Leandro Damiao!

Bad news from our perspective, Pellegrini saying that Edin Dzeko is staying at Manchester City so that one less player that could fill Cavani's spot at Napoli. Really does look like its coming down to Damiao for them, unless they've got someone in mid on the quiet.

Napoli will soon have in Leandro Damiao and Julio Cesar the stars of the first magnitude. The striker for Internacional de Porto Alegre could leave for Italy early next week: the deal is in the home stretch. The gap between demand and supply is cut short-La Gazzetta dello Sport reported the deal could be close to 22 million.

It is getting ridicolous.....not that we didn´t expect that I guess...

Indeed. One report saying he's on the cusp of joining Napoli and the other saying Napoli are about to throw in the towel and he's going to Spurs instead...

All good "fun"...

Anyone wondering why transfers are drawn out need look no further. All these strikers about to move, but all being dragged out. Why? Partly getting the best deal and club for themselves, but mostly clubs needing to secure replacements. Damiao, Cavani, Higuain, Tevez, Dzeko, Benteke. There's a lot of clubs looking for a top striker and not enough to go around.

As I said before, the bigger deals are often so much more protracted whether they make it into the media or not. It comes down to sponsorship, wages, ambition, image rights yada yada yada

The thing with Damiao is similar to Ramirez we just arent in a position to convince these guys 100% yet so of course they are going to have a look at whether the bigger boys are coming in.

Personally I would make an acceptable offer and then give them a time limit, if it falls through atleast you can move onto the next target. As good a signing as he is, the importsnce of us getting a new striker this season means IMO we cant wait all the TW to get someone in.

Yeah that makes sense. But what if you have 3 targets?

You move on and the first target then comes back and says OK?

And is 20% better than your 3rd target?

This is clearly a game/negotiation. It is also completely normal. Any single poster on here received interest in their services as an employee from 3 different companies WE would want to explore every detail every piece of fine print and would no doubt have one we felt would be the best fit for us. We would also try and make sure that the best fit gave us the best deal as well.

Exactly, and that last bit was actually a position I was in this summer, but as one that was made an offer and the offering company there would have been no hard feelings if that offer was removed due to my over diligence.

Should Damiao reject an offer but then come back as we were negotiating another I would say 'look, we are 90% through negotiations with this guy, if your interested you need to sign' I said before leverage is an important thing, all the time he has offers elsewhere then its in his favour, as soon as those offers dissapear then it swings to our side.

Hi Deanovski

You weren't on the ITKPM2013mark1 list but you really should come to the muppet show for all your ITK needs.

My info is that NC met with this guys reps and agreed a deal in principle. It is just down to the player now. It seems the current way of doing things is for the players agent to agree a load of deals with a load of clubs and then let him choose. It is not first past the post.

See you on TMS in future.

Saw this earlier. Gotta love how they are covering ALL the bases in their striker hunt.

Tancredi Palmeri ‏@tancredipalmeri

Higuain price requested by Real Madrid is 40m €, not 30m €, according to Sky Italy. Napoli have contacted the player, but no development

That was in June and he is a winger, not a Cavani replacement.

Incorrect, he is a forward and it was in July.

No it wasn't, no he's not.

He's a winger and if PSV announce the deal is done on the 24th of June then I'd say the transfer was completed in June. Now stop picking on MLG.

Tell me mulletsaint... who doesn't love picking on MLG?

Much as I enjoy a good wind-up, when done well, I find constant bullying of certain posters pathetic. I also find it pathetic that some people can't even do the bullying themselves. They have to hang on others' words, only jumping in when someone else has got in there first.

MLG may be a bit of a tw4t at times but that's better than acting the arsehole like many on here. Give me a tw4t over an arsehole any day of the week.

No person of Naples at the time he talked to me and take me must Damiao the say". So to TuttoMercatoWeb.com , President of the Internacional de Porto Alegre, John Louis.

Damiao though is the first name on the list of Naples.

"Yes, but we have not yet spoken. So as far as I'm concerned there are no talks between Naples and the Internacional ".

Other requests?

"Something from abroad, Yes. Like many teams, but has a contract with us. And who wants it should consult us. "

And if I tell her Southampton?

"Like many Damiao".

I insist: courteous and Pochettino they put him in the crosshairs.

"It may be. Yes, maybe there is the Southampton ".

It's more of an admission.

"Damiao is a major player".

Then?

"England has been well received, like. Normal that so many companies have attentive. But what about the Naples, however, I should like to emphasise that there have been no direct contact between us and them. Expect contact me ... ".

Interesting...

Make your mind up pal!

Maybe rather than moaning about posters you should start posting on topic yourself? Your last 20 odd posts have been moans about 110%

Thats bullying in my book! :spaz:

Just read it in Italian. The translation is ok but misses important nuances.

paraphrased: first of all - confirming what he said the other day ie napoli have not formally approached him, and if they want D they need to do so. (which incidentally is a quantum shift from the obvious nonsense of "he's not really for sale, i have no value for him and i want him for next season which he said 48-72 hours ago...")

Secondly the interviewer pushes him into an admission that MP and NC from Saints are the interested other parties. Again we are admitted as an interested party- just like by Roma earlier today for osvaldo.

BUT suggests plenty of others in England fancy him as well and concludes by indirectly once again telling Napoli through the interview that if they really want Dam then they must go through him...

Looks to me like he has been outflanked by napoli, the player wants to go to italy and will be positive - he has been approached direct for sure via his agent - which means the price that Luigi can negotiate might be smaller so he may feel like being a bit difficult as he is currently showing so well (bit like what we did with cagliari and their president). With Saints he will undoubtedly get more for his club.....but would the player come ...again I have to say v unlikely.

Am I right in thinking that the Brazilian transfer window closes on Saturday? Should mean we get a speedy resolution at least and allows us to move onto other targets if all falls through (as is looking likely)...

You can sell players outside the transfer window.

Ah, fair enough. Is that definitely the case in the Brazilian league? Depends then on whether Internacional want an adequate replacement or not before their window 'slams shut' (oops pressed CTRL+SSN key) as they will need to time to do their own business as well.

I'm not even sure the don can beat Napoli to Damiao when they've got 54m in their pocket.

He can't but they will need a higher profile replacement than Damiao to appease the fans. So that might give us a chance, at least we have contacted them as it has been confirmed from both sides.. The Napoli thing may not be true at all.

A transfer window is just the period in which a player can be registered. There is no restriction on selling as far as I am aware.
