That's just the tired media line, excusing a lot of managers and player from under performing and not giving a toss. Plenty are technically good enough an prove it at clubs and in Europe all the time. Youngsters have got better consistently, there's plenty of talent around and more intelligent players, rather than endless tryhard headless chickens.

Its harsh on the young players and all involved in coaching them to take the tired line and make out their efforts have been wasted. It's simply not true.

Of the English clubs who do okay in Europe, how many of their best players are English? When United, City, Chelsea & Arsenal play in the CL, it's generally not their home-grown players that the opposition fear most.

Isn't it? Walcott was deemed by Barcelona as Arsenal's key player. Rooney for United is always a marked man and has scored for fun in Europe over many years. Lampard and Terry have been the spine that Chelsea have based themselves upon for years, and Ashley Cole is rightly regarded as a world class left back. England have produced a number of excellent players; its how we play and backwards tactics and coaching at international level that lets us down.

Well not sh!t, but hugely overated.
Not even that. You don't score as many goals as he has, and get rated by as many top international players, without being exceedingly good. If someone like Xavi, one of the world's best players in CM, picks out Lampard as a player he admires a hell a lot, then I'd be prepared to sit up and listen to his opinion on it. Lampard has been an excellent player for many years.

Not talking about the last five years, I'm talking about now, at his level right now, I'm not conviced he'd play if he was in our squad....always looks so lazy.

Full backs better than we have? CBs? Welbeck? Bollo.xs.

Hart, Cahill, Rooney, Lampard, Walcott and after that?

The England team that in it's last two games against Brazil drew 2-2 over there and won 2-1 at home?

Full backs? Leighton Baines, Ashley Cole? Johnson is currently still better than Clyne, although there's not too much in it.

CBs? Jones, Lescott, Jagielka, Cahill - all better than what we currently have.

Then I don't quite understand what standard you're rating him by. He's been used much more sparingly by Chelsea as he's clearly approaching the tail end of his career; but even still attracted some major interest from some pretty big clubs. And if we were lucky enough to sign him, just for a year, I'd love to sign him. Class act.

Have to agree to disagree then ! Give me Morgan or Corky over him any day.

Now. He was integral to winning the champions league just over a year ago

Cork. The player Chelsea did not want?

3 years ago....yes Lampard was better then, but he's getting on now, not very mobile, and doesn't really contribute that much. Now, I'd rather have Corky, but that's probably more because I thin Cork is so important to the way we play.

Not very mobile? Still scores from late runs in the middle.

He is fit as a fiddle

Lets see if cork even starts now let alone so important

17 goals from 50 appearances (fair few off the bench) last season at the top level, including a goal every other game in the Prem, matching our centre forward Lambert as the highest English scorer in the League. This has got to be a wind up?

Ordinarily you'd have thought so, but it would actually seem not.

You're not actually ITK and know fark all. Almost come across as much of a pr*ck as Glasgow saint.

Jealous much? ;)

This is classic mongboardism from geezer garrett today. Good grief, just when you think you've seen it all on here.

Fixed that for you mate.

Just look on here. Both Hooper and Ince are generally dismissed. Yet a nutter in osvaldo is deemed 'brilliant'

also, getting excited about Bueno. is he really better than Ince? probably not

Has to be taken into context though surely? Osvaldo was 3rd top goal scorer in Italy probably the 3rd or 4th best league in the world & Hooper plays in Scotland. I know that doesn't mean Osvaldo is automatically better than Hooper but you can surely understand why Osvaldo would be a more exciting prospect to most?

Fûck me that's retarded. 15 goals a season from midfield Lampard wouldn't get a game for Saints?!

Osvaldo would be a massively exciting transfer...but a lot less likely to happen. He is a cracking player, but he has also said he doesnt want to come and known as a bit of a trouble maker. I would be inclined for us to look elsewhere.

Call it a night mate. Today's not been one of your best. A bit of sleep will do you good (hopefully).

Coming from the poster who just talks drivel in every single one of his posts?! I think I'll survive!

I seem to remember a while back you bragged that your posts were worth reading, I can assure you the comedy value of yours today have proven your arrogance was not misplaced.

I can't believe that someone's actually said this. He was left out in the cold when Benitez came in but forced his way back into the side and scored 15 goals in 29 games.

15 goals, in 29 games. From midfield. He was a substitute in 10 of them! I'd consider this season among his best if you consider his age and the scale of his achievement.

First time i've said this but I agree with 110persaint. You've had a mare tonight, maybe sit out the next few threads... Go on TMS for a bit, maybe watch some games of football... Then when you feel ready come back again.

Completely different players and to be honest Cork isnt even the best midfielder we have

No Morgan is better than Cork, and Wanyama - it will be interesting to actually see how good he is. Although its a very exciting signing on paper, ill reserve judgement until a few months into the season at least!
