Big Shirt Rip Off!

Would have sold a bucketload if they'd chosen that design. A pleasant protest indeed, until NC does something mental like banning anyone in stripes from SMS.

Too many Stone Islanders to get a proper protest shirt-wear sorted. :D

Not always that blatant though is it.

Someone out there can work on some iron on saints badges right? I think lots of fans wearing the shirt without the sponsor would be quite good.

If there's one thing Cortese doesn't give a toss about, it's the current shirt sponsor. We've already sent promotional stuff around 6 months ago trying to replace them AND already replaced them only for the replacement to back out (apparently).

Wearing stripes and not buying any new stuff is the only protest they might take the remotest bit of notice of. Even buying cheap lookalikes just makes it look like the kit is more popular than it is, even if they're not getting the money from it.

If seven people wanted to buy one of these together... http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Products/adidas-Tiro-13-Short-Sleeve-Football-Shirt-Mens-Football-Teamwear-University-RedWhite-60786.aspx - one cpuld do the buying once they'd received money from six peeps. This would attract 20% discount on each shirt - i.e. £18 - £3.60=£14.40! With or without the logo, to wear team colours, why pay £50 a pop???!!!

that would be counterfeiting .Use of the club logo is restricted because it's a copyrighted trade mark. Doubt if they'll turf you out of your seat for it though. Not an expert on the subject but I think you could use just a Southampton City logo on the shirt without falling foul of anyone though. Just not the scarf and football and stuff.

Thats a different red than ours and a slightly different design. It's the same as Bristol City's though.

It's not exactly a new idea for manufacturers to sell replica shirts at high prices. Its been happening since the 80's

Got a feeling it is only illegal if you are making money out of it though. If you own two shirts and you want to move the badge from one to the other that is your Privilege as long as you don't try to sell it. I've ordered a plain shirt as an alternative but if the red is too different I'll go back to last years.

You could go anywhere and get a polo shirt that looks near as dammit the same as a ralf Lauren or whatever brand you care to think of for a fraction of the price.

Yes and then you wash it twice and your lovely new polo is gone.

I'm hopeful one of those Chinese websites will start making those terrible rip-off versions and selling it for £8. I still won't buy it, but for the bizarrely-impressed, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Im sure they do

I am in fact buying the same Adidas shirt not a cheaper or lesser product

But i am adding the correct football club crest/badge and not infact some cheap rip off gold tacky cheap screen print badge.

By the time I have the badge added it won't necessarily be cheaper but it will be better.

Same here. I refuse to pay £50 for a shirt when an identical product is available for less than £20. The gold badges & sponsorship look **** so I don't want them anyway.

Congratulations, Saints. A masterstroke in how to **** off your fans. First you deliver a shirt that the majority of fans were opposed to and secondly it's a kit design that's available for a 1/3 of the price that the club charge. What a bunch of ****s!

I bet the club shop are still trying to charge full price for last seasons shirts too.

More ****ing premiership bull****. It's all about money and it's ruined football.

I have just purchased the away kit on line for £11.50 and will be having the correct club badge added not that **** the club are selling.

Where did you get the shirt for £11.50?

A mate got his Tiro in red today. A note to anybody who is considering doing the same... It's a VERY different shade of red compared to our home shirt.

The black Adidas Campeon looks to be identical to the away shirt pictures on the saints website. Guess we'll have to wait for the physical product to confirm this though.

You might want to dry your eyes and take another look at that "screen print badge"

Is it an embroidered crest? Not looked up close as queuing up at the ground or west key to desperately buy a mass produced peice of garbage isn't my cup of tea! Either way anyone who thinks the badge is a good thing needs there head read!

Also I find it quite funny the club knew they messed up with the home shirt and know everyone will buy the black! So they delay the black in order to get all the impatient fans who can't wait so they buy the home shirt!

It's also insulting they won't let you use the discount voucher in the season ticket until August ! Because they know the majority of people will have one by then!

At the end of the day it's just a shirt! I'm

Not worried if they make what they do on the shirt as that's just life and expected. It's just a shirt shirt and pathetic crest.

Well I for one like the monotone crests...They're sure as hell an improvement over the tin pot piece of garbage designed by a 16 year old in the 70's, that we've had to put up with over the last 40 years.

NC has found a way to make it a little more presentable, yet still maintain some tradition...who'd of thunk it!

Some peeps just don't do 'class' very well

The idea that you think "class" can be achieved by wearing a football shirt with a monochrome badge is quite amusing. Bless.

They took the Umbro kit out of the store on May 31st and they told me in the Megastore on June 1st that you could still buy the shirt but it was still full price and they'd get it from the stock cupboard for me. I laughed and said I wasn't going to pay full price for something that would never be worn again.

They weren't allowed to display any of it from June 1st because that was the date the adidas contract started.
