doggface Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 In the interests of fairness, we have quite a clear picture developing of the initial reaction to the home. Although I think it's alright I don't like it enough to buy it, and 2 red shirts on the trot is one too much - I am not going to buy it. However, what does everyone think of the away? Another poll perhaps? My opinion, although it is a template design it really works for me with the black, white and silver. Wish it had silver numbers but not in the premier league range I believe. If it is good enough for Spain it is good enough for me! Will order one.
The Kraken Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 Don't particularly like the V effect. Not really bothered about colours of the away kit; yellow is traditional but its good to mix it about a bit. Not really a fan of this one, but then I'm not a big fan of black kits in general.
Turkish Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 Whats the song to replace "yellows, yellows" Blacks, blacks, blacks. Or for the racist fans coloureds, coloureds, coloureds.
doggface Posted 28 June, 2013 Author Posted 28 June, 2013 We associate kits with memories from seasons gone by. Hopefully we can get some famous away wins in it this year, god knows we got none in the white! lol
stevegrant Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 Difficult to go too far wrong with an away shirt (although obviously they managed it quite impressively last season ), you've basically got every colour other than the one(s) used in the main shirt to choose from - even blue has been acceptable in the past. The black one's smart enough, albeit still pretty basic, and £50 for a shirt that'll get worn half a dozen times or so is still obscene.
Ziggy Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 Bought the white one last season as the home one was ****e. Won't make that mistake again!
The Kraken Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 Black and silver is good, but the v neck is awful. Shame as those colours in the home template would look smart I think. Not quite what you were saying, but Aberdeen have the away template for their home kit.
aintforever Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 Whats the song to replace "yellows, yellows" 'Come on you blacks' just seems wrong.
Olallana Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 In fairness to the home shirt I´ve never heard anyone singing "come on you stripes"....
View From The Top Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 My nipper wants it instead of the home shirt.
Lazlo78 Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 'Come on you blacks' just seems wrong. Come on you african americans?
Saint_clark Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 I like it but £50 is too steep, and don't want the sponsor logo - easy solution, buy the template direct from Adidas and get an iron on club crest.
RonManager Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 I expect the same songs at away games, as in 2010-11 when we last had an african-american away strip..
Saint Garrett Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 It's ok. Would have looked much better yellow with blue trim
pingwing Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 I hate it, I see why it was picked after the white kit clashes with EVERYTHING fiasco last season, but it just looks like a newcastle kit when the stripes have washed out. It's so unsaints like, though I do have a horrible soft spot for the 09/10 away kit so my opinions on away kits are some what tempered because of the unconditional love of that royal blue and yellow kit.
tajjuk Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 I really like it, always liked black kits and think it looks smart.
SarniaSaint Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 10 times better than the home shirt, but it's still carp.
The9 Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 I like the away, decent bit of design. Still would have looked better with gold trim though. Unlike the home kit.
The9 Posted 28 June, 2013 Posted 28 June, 2013 Not quite what you were saying, but Aberdeen have the away template for their home kit. What you need here is the Estudiantes kit.
sussexsaint Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Black and silver is good, but the v neck is awful. Shame as those colours in the home template would look smart I think. This
Kenilworthy Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 The problem with the away kit is that when it will be used clearly hasn't been thought through. It will only be used in the black shirts, white shorts combination at Liverpool and Cardiff. The shorts will have to change at United, Stoke, Arsenal, West Ham and Villa. Black shorts would have been much more sensible and I guess we will get them as an option, unless we wear the red shorts. There is no need for a 3rd kit though until we get Bournemouth in the cup.
bjk Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Black with red trim would look better i think but i like it and will be buying it.Home one is growing on me.
obelisk Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Just can't abide that V shape thing. Looks awful to me. I can live with the grim colour (or lack of one) but it just doesn't look good in my opinion. Zero chance of me buying either shirt but that's because I'm approaching 60 and blokes my age shouldn't be prancing about in football shirts.
Saint86 Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Lots of chav saints fans in v-necks incoming. Its like Portsmouth fans have switched over already. Kit would be good without it. With it it is horrendous. Worse than the home. Home kit is at least smart. Just not saints. If he wanted to change the clubs image and make us Stand out in the prem, then an all white "miss Southampton" style was the way to go. Smart, well liked, and distinct in England bar leeds' all white kits. Our marketing department are regards.
Badger Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Repeating what I said on the main kit thread, the away kit is just drab, has a quality of "nothingness" to it. Someone else made the observation that the white 'v' collar makes it appear like a Rugby League shirt. The worst thing about the white 'v' for me, is that it looks reminiscent of those vile Everton blue Le Coq Sportif 'Hafnia' shirts from the 80's. Anyone who was at Highbury in 1984 will probably realise why it 'brings me out in a rash'.
doggface Posted 29 June, 2013 Author Posted 29 June, 2013 As I said Spain have the same template too but the v is not filled in.
southamptonbairn Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Selling for under £20 for kids and £23 adults http://www.clublinefootball.com/products/view/113280?gclid=CIPguPilibgCFTHJtAodL1EAxA with the bonus of no sponsors logo and an iron badge for a fiver
Andre Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 It's good other than the big V, I just don't think it fits on a football shirt well.
BlakeySFC Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 I don't like it. I love it, one of the nicest away kits we've ever had. Far better than the bland, boring yellow/blue combo dross in my opinion.
ericofarabia Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 Difficult to go too far wrong with an away shirt (although obviously they managed it quite impressively last season ), you've basically got every colour other than the one(s) used in the main shirt to choose from - even blue has been acceptable in the past. The black one's smart enough, albeit still pretty basic, and £50 for a shirt that'll get worn half a dozen times or so is still obscene. They've not done a bad job on the away keepers shirt .... about 2 tones of darkness away from the players kit ...... don't think it will get many airings unless worn with our home kit!! Does anybody actually think these things through?
skintsaint Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 I like the away strip, i'm hitting on that rather than the home one this season.
100% Saint Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 I love the away kit and I find the home kit average for any other club but IMO it's not Saints. I will probably get the away and wear my 11/12 season shirt for home games.
Dr Who? Posted 29 June, 2013 Posted 29 June, 2013 I do like te away kit, also the silver instead of gold, gets a tick from me!
