Matthew Le God Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 Notts forest http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Nottingham_Forest/Nottingham_Forest.htm What about them? Some years they have black, others no black at all.
Colinjb Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 So you agree that red and white stripes are Saints' traditional home kit? But cannot give a reason for changing from tradition? For how long had the previous traditional Leeds and Liverpool kits been running for? Tradition obviously means nothing to him. C'est la vie. Tokyo-Saint Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 What about them? Some years they have black, others no black at all. But they don't play in all black do they? Of course trim, collars and small tweaks happen but they don't move of the central colour of all red do they?

Colinjb Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 I thought tradition started last year? I'm so confused. No, it started before we were born. Come on you Red/White quarters! Pfft.... just because we played in Stripes for 100 years.....

Turkish Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 So breaking any tradition is fine as the new thing might run longer and then be tradition. It's not the strongest argument is it. I have no idea what MLG even thinks, it's just a neverending stream of pedantic history that ranges from irrelevant to so tedious you forget why you even bought a computer. If there is one thing you can be sure of he will defend whatever it is the club is doing at that time. You've got to admire the loyalty and persistance, even if it is wierd. Colinjb Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 (edited) So breaking any tradition is fine as the new thing might run longer and then be tradition. It's not the strongest argument is it. I have no idea what MLG even thinks, it's just a neverending stream of pedantic history that ranges from irrelevant to so tedious you forget why you even bought a computer. Tradition is obviously meaningless to him though. It's a problem when you try to operate purely on logical terms in sport.... like so many human endeavours it's a fundamentally emotionally driven. If you look purely for logic you will tie yourself in knots as he frequently does. If you also stick with it long enough, the question of identity and kit becomes pointless.... it will soon come down to questioning the very point of football in the first place! It all ends up with society existing in an Equilibrium (Christian Bale starring matrix rip off, highly unoriginal but quite entertaining) type emotionless hell. Edited 4 July, 2013 by Colinjb Really need to start mixing up my metaphors.

Colinjb Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 I like it at the end of the film where he bizarrely and needlessly exhibits some great footballing skill with a machine gun that's lying on the floor, flicking it over the back of his head. If Guly tries this we're all fcked. Implementing the 'Gun Kata' ideology into first team training could have potential though......
The9 Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 People should not delude themselves that a poll on here is representative. My guess is we will sell tens of thousands. A poll on here is completely representative, but it may well sell plenty anyway - though as we have no idea how many shirts we usually sell it's speculation what kind of numbers any Saints shirt has sold. I don't think we've sold "tens of thousands" of many shirts, and this certainly isn't a popular one. Even for those buying to have a Saints kit with adidas on it there's an away kit and a range of training stuff to choose from (both of which I'll probably get). The9 Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 Don't think that many people are all that bothered, their loyalty is to the club rather than any particular kit. You've said that you think the shirt will sell tens of thousands, how does that tally with people being not all that bothered ? You don't just wake up one morning and Saints have deducted £50 from your account and you've got a shirt on...
The9 Posted 4 July, 2013 Share Posted 4 July, 2013 The website for the 'save-our-stripes' campaign is now live incidentally. http://www.save-our-stripes.co.uk Cheers, I've been busy having a life and all that malarkey. Well ok, I turned up to football training in a team GB shirt last night, then met my wife at the pub. Tuesday I spent hours sodding about on FM13 having added the Gwent County 3rd Division to the game, and Monday night I played 5 a side in a Mexico shirt. So basically I've been doing other vaguely football things, though that basically IS my life, so... yeah, anyway. Not been "SOS"ing. Incidentally, considering this shirt is going to sell "tens of thousands" apparently, I've seen one person's kid with one on my FB feed and haven't seen anyone in real life wearing one. The sash was EVERYWHERE in the first week and I saw hundreds (though admittedly the World Cup was on and people wore them to England matches). The site would have been live on the weekend had inconvenient things such as work and human contact not interfered. Being immobile due to injury during the evening has helped a little in terms of the progress too! Have to confess, havn't seen many of the new red shirts here either.... will nice to get the house move sorted soon and get a real perspective. Patrick Bateman Posted 7 July, 2013 Share Posted 7 July, 2013 Indeed. Added to which, the current home shirt will not be appearing in our house for birthdays, or Christmas. Just to p*ss everyone off who doesn't buy one, I will. I'll give it to a charity shop or store it or something, but I'll have "made my point" [that it's just a football shirt].
