Stripes for the first game of the season?

I won't be, but those who just have to buy it can do....be good if the whole stadium was in stripes again though.

Don't think that many people are all that bothered, their loyalty is to the club rather than any particular kit.

If you back the chairman and appreciate what he has done for us you will buy the shirt and you will wear it at the first game of the season. Can I just remind everyone where we were 4 years ago and how lucky we are to still have a club. We almost lost Cortese in May so i think you need to show your gratitude by stopping your whining, buy the shirt and sing his name non stop to show that you appreciate him and all he has done for us.

SFC started in red and white stripes. Blue shorts, blue socks.

Should we start a campaign for that kit then? After all you think that was the first Saints kit and you can't get more traditional than that. Those wanting stripes are merely doing so because in their lifetimes that is what they associate with the club.

You start a campaign for whatever you like, Matthew. Please don't ask me to be part of it though, thanks.

A 60/40 split isn't huge.

It is a majority. The 40% are also very split, with 15% (Saintsweb poll) not caring.

Therefore the vast majority that do care want stripes. 60/25 ratio.... over double those of contrary opinion.

Christ MLG, do we have to go through this kind of terrible routine every time?

60% have rejected the current kit (SaintsWeb poll) and wish for a return to stripes (Echo poll).

It's really not hard.

Its an affliction, he thinks it makes him look smart. Everyone else is smart enough to know it makes him look a ****. Its a standoff.

Only about 10% have said they actually like it.

Get those fecking photos godo!

Yep a ratio of 6/1 of those who want stripes and those who want the current kit.

Yes MLG, it's only a slight majority.

A 'retro kit day' would be a fantastic way of protesting. Those who actually care enough to own the kits and want stripes back will more then likely own a striped shirt already.

At least we've got a Facebook group now to hammer the message home to those that matter.

Yes, well done, you're getting it now. "The team that play in red and white today can trace their roots back to the club formed in 1885 by members of St. Mary's Church Young Men's association who played their football on the banks of the Itchen for 13 years before moving on."

Why stripes? Why not follow through this logic and demand the 1885 sash returns? Any deviation from a club's original kit is a break from "tradition".

Stop being a knob for just a minute. In the living memory of the vast majority of fans we have been in a kit (bar a few 80's hiccups, but even then the colours were still a R/W/B combo)) of mainly red and white stripes, and black shorts. To be honest I'd love a return to The sash, but it won't work with a Sponsor logo.

Ata-boy. We'll have you selling protest t-shirts on the Northam bridge yet.

No mate, I've brought a job lot of Adidas template shirts for £17 off the innernezz and white iron on AAP3 logos and SFC badges. Going to be knocking out home made Saints kits for £35 outside the chapel arms next season. Everyone seemed to love the ones with white badges.

At the risk of being seen to take MLG's side in an argument (never a comfortable position at the best of times), nowhere on the poll does it specify stripes, it's merely an appraisal of the new shirt, i.e. whether the voters like the shirt or not.

Certainly true that only 19% (rounded up) actually like the new shirt, 66% don't like it and only 17% will actually part with their cash. That's not a positive reaction no matter how you spin the figures.
