alpine_saint Posted 27 June, 2013 Share Posted 27 June, 2013 Just found out where the training camp is in relation to the Austrian matches. Its a place called Velden, just on the western edge of the Wöthersee, about 12 km from Villach. They are training there between 23. and 30. July. Anyone know how I can find out if they do any public training sessions I can take the kids along to ?
Saint_clark Posted 27 June, 2013 Share Posted 27 June, 2013 Only by phoning or emailing the club, I'd imagine. Maybe by tweeting Jordan Sibley
stevegrant Posted 27 June, 2013 Share Posted 27 June, 2013 You're unlikely to get a proper answer out of the club. The first time they went to Interlaken in Switzerland, I tried to go through the "correct" channels to get information on what times they'd be training, etc. We found where we presumed they were likely to be based on the early photos and the surrounding area, but saw that it was about a mile and a half from where we were staying so couldn't be bothered to wander up there on the off-chance that we'd be able to watch. The club kept stalling me on which sessions would be outdoor and which would be in the gym etc, so we missed out. We had reason to travel up to where the training venue was as we were getting a train up the mountain, and it turned out that the place was completely open and we could have just wandered up there and watched at any time. Summary: don't bother asking the club, just wander up there at a suitable time and you'll probably be able to watch.

Interesting, because I always thought there was a socialising/community interraction with the hosts type of event. Any idea of what consititutes a suitable time ? mid-morning, perhaps ? Any idea of what consititutes a suitable time ? mid-morning, perhaps ? In Interlaken they had one session relatively early in the morning (about 9ish) and then another from around 2pm. Not entirely sure whether that was ideal for them as that was when the sun was at its hottest (got up to 40 degrees one day), but there were daily storms you could set your watch by at 5pm so I guess it was partly due to necessity as well.
