MOSaint Posted 21 June, 2013 Share Posted 21 June, 2013 U-20s world cup started today, JWP is in the England squad and Cody Cropper is in the US squad and currently playing for them against Spain. Spain are 1-0 up after 19 mins.
Olallana Posted 21 June, 2013 Share Posted 21 June, 2013 USA really doing a good first half against Spain but Spain has some serious quality going forward. Deulofeu and Jese is not players I would say no to.... 2-0 now, cant blame Cropper. Great finish by Deulofeu.
MOSaint Posted 21 June, 2013 Author Share Posted 21 June, 2013 Make that 3-0. Cropper being hung out to dry by his defence. Deulofeu and Jese are different class to everybody else on the field. Deulofeu in particular.

MOSaint Posted 21 June, 2013 Author Share Posted 21 June, 2013 4-0. Deulofeu with his second. Would definitely take him on loan for the season if Barca want to send him out for a season.

MOSaint Posted 23 June, 2013 Author Share Posted 23 June, 2013 England on later. Also uruguay playing soon. Bueno, who has been linked and is supposedly worth 8m is only on the bench.
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 June, 2013 Share Posted 23 June, 2013 Will Spain ever lose a game, at any level??? No because they have complete confidence in themselves. They build a team at the lowest youth level and play the same system all the way through enduring the players gel and understand that system. I reckon you could put nearly any of there players from any level into any team and they would function with little coaching. Basically the opposite of England

mulletsaint Posted 23 June, 2013 Share Posted 23 June, 2013 Taters building it up but not enough possession play for my liking. To much trying to hit long balls to the front man early.

leithsaint Posted 23 June, 2013 Share Posted 23 June, 2013 Great passage of play, terrific double save by the England keeper, then a fast break down the right, ball across and a tap in from Luke Williams for 2-0.
mulletsaint Posted 23 June, 2013 Share Posted 23 June, 2013 Great counter attack for the second. Unfortunately that seems to be the way we focus our football in the academies. It's great when we don't have the ball but when we're in control it seems to mean too many long balls and losing possession easily.
mulletsaint Posted 23 June, 2013 Share Posted 23 June, 2013 2-2. Last minute equaliser. That's what happens when you can't take care of the ball and keep possession.

mulletsaint Posted 23 June, 2013 Share Posted 23 June, 2013 Anyone seeing a pattern emerging throughout or respective national teams? Indeed. JWP was neat and tidy on the whole but never really saw enough of the ball. As Saint Charlie said little in the way of creativity from England. Then the geniuses who make these decisions will still be tehre scratching their head going "I just don't understand what we're doing wrong"

Personally I couldnt give a flying f^ck about England until they kick out those at the top, stop focussing on money over success and look at successful European models which show a real emphesis on gelling teams through the tournaments in their respective age groups. I wouldn't call them decent. I'd call them below average. "Decent" would be the likes of Rob Lee in his pomp, not the above, who offer nothing creatively and struggle to pass to their own team. Christ, even Neil Maddison would get near the England team these days. Well, maybe if he was warming the bench at Citeh or something.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 June, 2013 Share Posted 24 June, 2013 (edited) The US got a 1-1 draw against France just now so things are looking up for them after their initial shambles. A point of interest here, Pogba is supposed to be the best thing since err Patrick Viera but today's game proved just how ordinary he is. So there you have 2 points, Morgan must be absolutely hacked off that the lad is picked in front of him for the Full France side just because he plays for Juventus reserves more often than not and that all that glitters is not gold. All Im saying is Rodwell and henderson are certainly better than you have given them credit for, christ even Cork and JWP are technically nothing compared to some of the European youngsters. I agree with you BTW. England are knackered, and I honestly wouldnt expect anything for the next 5 years, we need to sort coaching from the ground up and have to force/make youngsters believe that the way to get first team full England team caps comes from progressing through the youth levels
Saint Garrett Posted 24 June, 2013 Share Posted 24 June, 2013 England have the problem that anyone that is any good at a young age, gets fastracked through, expectation thrown on them, get given ££££ and they never properly grow as they should do. Brainless kick and rush football JWP looks very uninterested, I'm sure he's not though. Just seems to wander around a 15 metre square most of the time. In the main his team mates don't seem to want to pass to him at all.

In the main his team mates don't seem to want to pass to him at all. Yeah he isn't really involved in the game at all. Most attacks seem to revolve around either giving the ball to Barkley or the ginger lad and them mindlessly pushing forward until they lose it or a simple hoof at Kane. Danny Mills is tearing them to pieces on commentary and he's right.

He's so negative, he'll be taking over from Mark Lawrenson soon. Sure we're poor but for all chile's possession, they've created nothing whereas we've created a fair bit. JWP has been one of the better England players, always finding an England player, never panicking and dangerous from set plays. Didn't realise that Chelsea and arsenal are interested in him though, although I agree with the Man U example of sending players out on loan that Mills mentioned. Olallana Posted 26 June, 2013 Share Posted 26 June, 2013 For me looking at these England u21, U20 teams I would say that english football really need new influences already in academy levels. Cant say that I know that much about the setups at academys but my feeling is that there are a lot of coaches that has been playing before in the old English style and mould. There is one thing with all the foreign managers, assistants and coaches on the PL level but that is too late. Those influences are needed at a younger age, at the academy level. Seems like these U-teams are playing the old english style and that tells me to think that there are too little new influences at academy levels..... (yes my grammars are horrible but aint got the time to write it better now )
