georgeweahscousin Posted 21 June, 2013 Share Posted 21 June, 2013 It frustrated me that Lallana was chosen ahead of Puncheon at times towards the end of last season. Do you think the captaincy meant he was chosen by default? Form wise he was way off. I am not for a second suggesting Lallana isn't good enough by the way, but he seemed to lose his way a bit and if any new wide players come in I can't see him being first choice. Thoughts? Stepgar Posted 21 June, 2013 Share Posted 21 June, 2013 (edited) I love what AL is all about but MP has already shown he Is not afraid to pull him off. So I could see a change in captain and I don't don't think he is first on the sheet anymore. Edited 21 June, 2013 by Stepgar Appalling spelling and gramma. saint-crinny Posted 21 June, 2013 Share Posted 21 June, 2013 If we sign another winger, you know it will be one made to improve the team. Add Banega's potential signing in there as well, and with MP's clear admiration for Jay, and it's tough to see Adam starting games, especially given the way he finished the season. To be honest though, a spell not being an automatic choice might not be a bad thing for him. He has had four seasons of being a shoe-in, and by and large, performing well. Suddenly fighting for his place might bring the best out of him - we all know he has bags of talent but the problem for the second half of last season was that there was rarely an end product. Competition for him can only be a good thing for me, not least because it will also inevitably mean we have signed a really good player as well! Saint Garrett Posted 21 June, 2013 Share Posted 21 June, 2013 I think we have to be careful that we don't disrupt the side too much. As much as I don't think Lallana deserved a place in the side at the end of last season, I can certainly see him starting, and if he's not doing it then drag him off. Great to have different options though, and I fully expect us to bring in another wide player to rival him. Be interesting to see whether we bring in another striker or not as well this summer, because if we do, then I expect MP sees J-Rod's role in the '3' rather than up top.
