Adam Lallana should not be Captain...

Taking the captaincy off Adam could cause more problems than is necessary. I appreciate that the captain has a role, but realistically with the characters they've got in the squad, theres a few who will be doing very similar things to Adam behind the scenes (Lovren, Fonte, Lambo etc.). Its nowhere near as bigger thing as a sport like cricket where clearly the captain directly influences the game with his decision making and tactics. No point in changing whatsoever.

I'm still a bit of an old fashioned curmudgeon about this, I like my skipper to be an agressive, passionate centre back or defensive midfielder (so, I'd probably go for Fonte).

But maybe the responsibility and status has helped Adam's overall game and confidence. He has been our player of the season so far by a country mile and the imporvement on last year (when he was still pretty good) has been jaw-droppingly good.

Lallana should 100% be our Captain.

He is a leader within the squad and drives the other players to maintain high standards.

Amazed anyone would even question it really.

He obviously had issues with the captaincy in the early stages. Kelvin Davis made reference to it:

"I think as well when he first had the Southampton armband, you could see it kind of held him back a little bit. But now the way he has matured, he doesn't find that a weight now. Again, that comes down to belief

I pretty much agree with that; I think it took Lallana a little while to adapt to the new responsibility. But now that he has done so he is a very worthy skipper; as would be Rickie Lambert or Dejan Lovren IMO.

People did question it last season but he has come through it and to question it now or suggest he shouldn't be captain is foolish.

Ultimately it has been the right call. As you say, others could do it, Morgan also. But Lallana is our leader on the pitch through his desire, work rate and performances.

Like thinking JWP's a tidy player but still not ready...

Remember that one, pal?

What are you on about? All I seem to see from you these days is lots of sneering comments at people whose opinion you don't agree with, but rarely commiting you one yourself. Like I said the other day, it's the role dull drums used to perform so well. You must be proud.

Don't remember? You were sufficiently interested in my views that you dug up my old posts on JWP - this at a time the mboard was going into overdrive about JWP -some even claiming he had a chance of going to Brazil- and expressing reservations about the lad was seen as heretical.

Likewise, when 'people' claimed we would be a better and more solid side without Lallana, I observed that his tracking back and defensive work had come on leaps and bounds and that this was an underrated part of his game.

The mboard doesn't lie.

Perhaps you don't remember, tho. Can't help if these views become the mainstream, the conventional wisdom

Not really sure what point you're trying to make pal, unless of course you're saying I was one of those who said he had a chance of Brazil, so good luck with that.

As for the Lallana thing, was a fair discussion point at the time, which is ashy mongboards are for, no? again easy to sneer over a year on when things have changed isn't it pal.
