As I say with all potential signings, if he signs he signs, if he doesn't who gives a ****. To be honest never heard of the guy, and is £10 mil a good buy, or are we being taken for a ride? Time will tell.

Erm, really?

From a Scottish journo/reporter:

I believe a deal between the clubs and player is now very close. Others want Wanyama but Saints are in pole position. Top player.

We've kind of done this in previous years, got in their first for ''sought after'' players, others then try to bid...but we're just too far down the line. Think this will be finished shortly. (Jack Cork being a recent example, Jay Rodriguez being another...)

Except Dejan Lovren, the second most expensive signing in our history.

And Jay Rodriguez, the third.

There was tons of stuff in the press anout Jay-Rod. What are you on about?

Lovren was quicker but hardly out of the blue.

The hilalriously dubbed daily Fail, the lying scum paper with the anti saints agenda, reported we had had a bid accepted for for him about 3 days before he signed. Yet here they are at it again, lying and making up stories that we've had another bid accepted for a highly rated player. This can only be an attempt to destabilise us.

If this is Wanyama's actual twitter feed, he's ''carefully'' retweed some fans (and saints fans) talking about the transfer. But he's made no comment.

I'm not surprised he's being careful. I'm sure Nathaniel Clyne got his knuckles rapped when he changed his profile on Twitter to say he was a Southampton player before the official announcement was made.

I've been having loads of fun on the scottish sun comments page with the Celtic fans

Make sure you mention our eleven cup semi finals. That in no way makes us sound small fry, no-mark and tin-pot.

Good morning MLG.

Quite how you belittle someone for only getting 45k at home to Inverness is beyond me

That is a great crowd for such a game

Celtic are a Goliath of a club. Far bigger than we will ever be in our life times.

Thy are massively restricted due to the league that are in and we can offer more wages and massive exposure in the prem.

That is more of a sad reflection on the SPL than how amazing we apparently are going to be

Wanyama really would be a coup. Considering that we have very little physicality in our squad he can add it in spades. The lad's not ridiculously built, but his strength belies that. Has a bit of an eye for goal too which, Morgan's purple patch last season aside, we have been lacking of late.

Haha, this twitter thing is such a pain in the arse.

Why is it? Twitter is no different to the gossip and banter down the pub. There's potential for BS everywhere you go.

Tbh, I'd never heard of wanyama before this (i dont watch scottish football) but the Celtic fans do make me laugh when they spout on about winning trophies and qualifying for the CL. Wanyama would play more games against CL opposition if he played in the EPL than he does playing for Celtic. It may not be the CL but it's clear theres a step up in quality from the SPL to the EPL.

Good video and looks like he would do very well in the prem. Celtic fans certainly rate him which is a great indicator.

The more I think about this one the more I think we'd be a perfect fit for him. We have a young, hungry ambitious team and he's 21 so he'd fit in, we are reknowned for bringing through young players which would benefit him and we would give him the 1st team opportunities to be watched by the world.

He could sign a 4 year contact and if he excelled could do 2/3 years at Saints and move on at the age of 23\4. We get a nice profit and the service of a top player, he gets some great mentoring and a move to a top club.

That's assuming we weren't gunning for a top 4 ourselves, sounds crazy but with NC at the helm and Saints after these kind of players who knows anymore? As someone who is more used to signings like Shipperly and Neil McCann it's hard to comprehend names like Osvaldo etc.

It's becoming easier mind.

Although if you read some of the posts in HCDAJFU it appears that many contributors on here also struggle to get their heads round the fact that we can persue these "better" players with pipe dream price tags.

But then on the flip side fans of other teams see the sale of a certain left sided player as a done deal simply because it is a necessity enabling us to continue putting 50p's in the electricity meter.

I think we need to set MLG on Jamie... ;)

yde6udyr.jpgy5a3amu3.jpgu8e3a6yg.jpg

That's essentially the same they were saying on their forums, they are upset and I suspect they will go into meltdown if he does actually sign for us.

I think all Saints fans know that they are a bigger club but their league is sub-championship standard and their team wouldn't be good enough for the premier league. They had guys yesterday telling me Joe Ledley was better than Cork . The reality is the premier league and the cash that goes with it is a big draw for players these days.

They may not want him to go to a small club like us but he seems worried about getting first team footie at the bigger clubs, plus we give him the chance to prove himself in the top leagues, he's 21 I'm sure if he continues to improve he'll have a shot at a massive club. Also the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd etc don't seem to have bid.

Also whatever the agreed fee, be it £10 or £12 (not upwards of £15 million ) It's going to be a Scottish Record Transfer if we sign him.

 Not another Obifem....

Hope we've employed Madrid's tactics and reserved shirt 67 to sweeten him up

Why would he want to wear 67 for Saints? You do know why he chose that number*? 76 would be more appropriate when he joins us but I think PL rules don't allow these "random" numbers.
