Grey Crab Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Good stuff, but I'm not sure that we need another Japanese player. I think we've got the market covered over there already with Lee and Yoshida.
trousers Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 "I want to stress that the deal could have been done sooner, but this shows that we do business on our terms" Was wondering Turks if you still think I was wrong to say "the agent probably backed down"? I mean after all when someone else is wrong you like to make sure they and everyone else knows they were wrong. So will you hold your hands up and say you were "probably" wrong? But anyways welcome to the club Wagamama. Sure he will do a good job for us. Kinda feel bad for Cork as looks as though he will be the one to get squeezed out. Not sure where this leaves Davis either. To be fair to Turkish, he was technically correct: there was no 'evidence' that the agent had backed down. But that's missing the point. We never claimed there was any evidence, rather we had a hunch that was likely to be the case. Anyway, water under the bridge...
Bwanamakubwa Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 The song in Swahili "jambo bwana" would welcome him nicely. Thinking about it, replace that with "victor wanyama", which works, and you've got a song for him already.
Window Cleaner Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Well he´s not built like the normal Kenyan athletes you´ve seen through the years, thats for sure... Talking about the long distance runners... you obviously don't remember Douglas Wakihuri then. He wasn't from the Rift Valleys either but he was quick.
St Marco Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 To be fair to Turkish, he was technically correct: there was no 'evidence' that the agent had backed down. But that's missing the point. We never claimed there was any evidence, rather we had a hunch that was likely to be the case. Anyway, water under the bridge... I didn't say that though. I said there was a history of our club holding to their guns (I mentioned the premier league agents table where we were last). So while there was no evidence to suggest his agent backed down there was a lot of evidence to suggest Cortese is one stubborn bastard who rarely backs down. Which is why I said it was more likely the agent backed down. That was the issue we were arguing.
itchen_dan Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 SimonPeach: I understand #SaintsFC forked out more on Wanyama than the £12million spent on Ramirez, making it bigger than Flo deal & McGeady's departure
Olallana Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 you obviously don't remember Douglas Wakihuri then. He wasn't from the Rift Valleys either but he was quick. true, but one off doesn´t make it "normal" (had forgot about him though)

Window Cleaner Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 true, but one off doesn´t make it "normal" (had forgot about him though) back in the days when Brits ran fast marathons as well, Smith,Smith,Jones and Spedding. Marathon running is in the mind once you have the tools to do the job. If Steve Jones was running the marathon at his best now Kenyans would be back in the pack.
SNSUN Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Then he is not doing it right. Or he's not found a fanny big enough to satisfy him...
trousers Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 @MichKatami: @VictorWanyama just called me to rely the message that he's finally signed for Saints...He is so happy ..
Bearsy Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 what's the skinny bout sell-on clauses? I hope there ain't one, cos it really bit cortese on arse with Forren deal.
Turkish Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 "I want to stress that the deal could have been done sooner, but this shows that we do business on our terms" Was wondering Turks if you still think I was wrong to say "the agent probably backed down"? Not sure where this leaves Davis either. How do you know Celtic didn't pay him? Also interesting to note the fee was originally £12m, now £12.5m. I may be wrong, I may not be, but what is clear is that there was a compromise.
TheSpankBoy Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Or he's not found a fanny big enough to satisfy him... Aside from Kerry Katona i am not sure there is a woman alive accomodating enough.

itchen_dan Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 VictorWanyama: The club as been great you fans incredible... 67 will always be in my HEART. I hope you wish me well.
ART Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 I guess Victor makes a very welcome birthday present. I will keep this in mind when he doesn't play well. Lord forbid. No more losers ...............please Senior Pochettino.
Bearsy Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 this helmet needs to stop banging on bout celtic & start kissing the collective rings of saintsweb massive.

trousers Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 @MichKatami: @VictorWanyama's move to #EPL to #Southampton is a breakthrough for Kenyan football.. Massive move,
MadDogMatt Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Very impressive interview on Player very mature responses to both Saints and Celtic questions #welcomeVictor
LGTL Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 http://www.talkceltic.net/forum/showthread.php?t=134996&page=5 Celtic thoughts. Oh and please, no helmets sign up and start irritating them.
DuncanRG Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Very impressive interview on Player very mature responses to both Saints and Celtic questions #welcomeVictor Really? He's clearly a smart lad but I thought it was PR-approved drivel other than when he was talking about Celtic. But then, it always is these days.

We never claimed there was any evidence, rather we had a hunch that was likely to be the case. Anyway, water under the bridge... No, originally you were suggesting that NC had "won" against the agents, when there is no evidence that is the case at all. In all likelihood, bot parties negotiated and showed some flexibility to get to an agreement, I'd still expect the agent to have done alright out of this.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Cracking signing. Brilliant stuff. Looking forward to seeing him destroy some Premier League midfields. Right, who's next???

In all likelihood, bot parties negotiated and showed some flexibility to get to an agreement, I'd still expect the agent to have done alright out of this. Reckon the agent stalled to try to see who else was around for the client, we put a time limit on and an agreement was made between thr clubs. Quality quality player though
Convict Colony Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 this helmet needs to stop banging on bout celtic & start kissing the collective rings of saintsweb massive. My thoughts exactly, he should be saying shizzle like "I heard tokes bathed with his in-laws and I am into that vibe so knew Saints were the club for me" etc.
Convict Colony Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Am not too impressed by Vic's glasgow digs so maybe we offered him a lounge that was bigger and had its own entrance way ?
Smirking_Saint Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 he's not even mentioned our stadium plans Surely he has seen them ? Either on Celts web or jonas forum
Convict Colony Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Exclusive pic of Vic reading the Saintsweb and the muppet show !!!
Convict Colony Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Nice champagne in the background, thats how every forum member rolls when surfing, I'm on my 2nd bottle already of Tatinger
Bearsy Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 I hope he does well, i really do, but he just don't look like a prem player to me. Where is tattoo's? He don't even seem to have xbox.

Nothing is truth until the club release a lovely polished PR release. We do our business in private, see?

Nah mate, that's so 2012/13 season when we had a clueless bumpkin manager who was out his depth, now we've for the new Mourinho in charge, the man to take us to the next level, we name our targets in interviews and openly discuss them. That's the new improved way we do business.
