itchen_dan Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 @solentsport: Kenyan Football Federation have a statement on their website saying that Victor Wanyama has signed for #Saintsfc. No comment/confirmation

sfc1976 Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Looks a done deal then. After all, most things coming out of Nairobi can be taken on face value, as most email spam folders will confirm!
Saints foreva Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 BBC Solent Sport @solentsport 3m Despite Kenyan FF statement, we understand Victor Wanyama move to #Saintsfc NOT completed, yet. Due to be finalised before weekend. #celtic

raynesparksaint Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Its on the Grauniad - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/10/victory-wanyama-southampton-transfer-celtic He's already said his goodbyes to Celtic team-mates er tomorrow... make sense of that
aintforever Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Not sure about spending £12.5mill on some one from the Scottish league, bit of a gamble.
pingwing Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Not sure about spending £12.5mill on some one from the Scottish league, bit of a gamble. 2 seasons in the SPL one of which he performed amazingly in the champions league = a bit of a gamble? I do agree it's a steep price to pay, but I doubt he'll be a flop considering the position he plays at the strong positive attributes he displays in his general game.
supersonic Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 We will get this wrapped up before then no doubt as things such as VO2 testing and other pre season testing will need to be done on him before they go away. Expect announcement tonight or early tomorrow morning I think. SuperSonic did say yesterday that he heard NC saying something about "being there about 8" so maybe 8 o'clock tonight for an announcement at 9? Who knows? NC was stating what time he was arriving for work this morning
Stepgar Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 2 seasons in the SPL one of which he performed amazingly in the champions league = a bit of a gamble? Guys your average price for a player when you are in the prem is most likely to be excessive of true value. Carroll is a prem example. Just get used t it and stop moaning. You would all be moaning if we paid 2/3 mill for a player who t ironed or to be crap stating that we should have spent more money on a player. Club spends little - people moan, club spends big - poeple moan.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Wanyama to be announced tomorrow, allowing Shaw to sign a new deal on Friday and round off the working week by capitalising on the feel-good factor... ...I like it.
Wopper Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Whats the holdup is he still trying to shaft us for more money?

I know all of this really I just like the idea of getting a good deal for a player, I am hopeful the £12.5m on him will pay off, it's just a big transfer fee, not something we're really used to...

I do agree it's a steep price to pay, but I doubt he'll be a flop considering the position he plays at the strong positive attributes he displays in his general game. He might be a great player I don't know enough about him to judge. My only concern is that the Scottish league is garbage, Neil McCann looked good at that level. As for the CL, buying a player on the back of a handful of games at any level is a bit of a gamble. I'm not moaning but we did spend alot last season on average players, hope they get it right this time.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Whats the holdup is he still trying to shaft us for more money? Had to fly in from Germany and then needs a medical, I guess.
VectisSaint Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Wanyama to be announced tomorrow, allowing Shaw to sign a new deal on Friday and round off the working week by capitalising on the feel-good factor... ...I like it. He better sign now, just purchased my first ever season ticket after 47 years of following Saints. Gulp.
alehouseboys Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Whats the holdup is he still trying to shaft us for more money? Probably medical tomorrow then, if all goes well, signs on the dotted line. Next.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Just had "Wanyama 7" printed on my new home shirt
itchen_dan Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 @SimonPeach: Wanyama close to #SaintsFC deal, but there will be no official announcement tonight. It is not yet confirmed, despite what the Kenyan FA say
Olallana Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Just had "Wanyama 7" printed on my new home shirt So we´re selling Lambert now then....
Chez Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 he'll need to be bloody good to dislodge Morgan or Cork, who were both sensational last season.
farawaysaint Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Yes all done I'm not sure I can be friends with a liar
david in sweden Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Not sure about spending £12.5mill on some one from the Scottish league, bit of a gamble. well, better said that..... he's playing in an SPL club, that doesn't mean he's a less than excellent standard (by English standards)
CB Fry Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Too many people jumping the gun here. You know it's a done deal when Dalek rolls out this rib-tickler. See you next time, twenty-four ours before our next signing.
Jonnyboy Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 he'll need to be bloody good to dislodge Morgan or Cork, who were both sensational last season. I expect Corky will be benched.
THEVMAN Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Too many people jumping the gun here. As Saint Armstrong said all being well he signs tomorrow
Saint Garrett Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 I expect Corky will be benched. Not convinced. Cork was sensational last season. Wanyama is a good signing but he'll still need to earn his place.
Jonnyboy Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 As Saint Armstrong said all being well he signs tomorrow Thanks vaginas man!
itchen_dan Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 As Saint Armstrong said all being well he signs tomorrow There we go. As I said earlier, I'd be shocked if this didn't go through now. There's no way we'd put all this effort in for no outcome.
SuperSAINT Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Fantastic move if we can land him. Massive potential and perfect for our formation. Quality signing.
Bewildered Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Looks like the only thing that could stop this going through now is if he fails his medical.
Saint Charlie Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Good sign that Wanyama is certainly a first choice for us. Possibly Lovren was too, bodes well for other targets and shows we will only sign quality.
mcjwills Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Not sure about spending £12.5mill on some one from the Scottish league, bit of a gamble. Same as paying an Italian club 12m for a relatively unknown player
EBS1980 Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 I've been told (from an employee of the club) that the deal has progressed but not quite signed and sealed. Hopeful it'll be sorted in the next week ready to go on the pre season tour. As said last week, all on track to be done, everything agreed just medical to go then signing the contract baring any medical issues. Working hard on other deals but nothing close yet.
Saint Charlie Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Nice piece: http://celticjournal.org/2281/interview-on-victor-wanyama/
100% Saint Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Come On You Saints . Please sign him tomorrow will be a pretty good b'day present. Then Luke can sign a 5 year deal on Friday. Jobs a gooden .
JackanorySFC Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Nice piece: http://celticjournal.org/2281/interview-on-victor-wanyama/ Excellent piece that. Celtic fans seem to love the guy, respect he was going to move and suggest we have both an absolute weapon of a player and an asset worth a lot more than £12m. Really happy with this signing (once confirmed).
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 'ITK' guys, any idea on what time his medical is? And is it in Southampton or London, which has been reported? Thanks.
Crab Lungs Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 'ITK' guys, any idea on what time his medical is? And is it in Southampton or London, which has been reported? Thanks. I'm not sure, but I'd imagine either Staplewood or the Uni?
