DuncanRG Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 Yeah, if we look further back than fair enough. But I can't think of a club below the very top level who only sign winners!
The Kraken Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 (edited) I think it's just admitting that in the vast majority of cases the people who do this for a living will know better. Doesn't mean they'll be right all the time, but they have a better ratio than any of us would. If you take that route then there's no point in discussing it whatsoever. Just leave all that to the experts. Kind of defeats the idea of a forum though, where the whole point is to discuss issues, whether (ill) informed or not. Have we really been hit and miss? Forren, Ramirez, Gazza and Mayuka haven't 'hit' to date but I wouldn't chalk them down as 'misses' quite yet, especially considering none were signed as short-term fixes. All the rest have been resounding successes if you ask me.It's entirely subjective, but yes I'd say we have been hit and miss, albeit more hit than miss. Edited 7 July, 2013 by The Kraken

Window Cleaner Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 (edited) I see that Everton are now supposedly interested...if that's the case we might as well move on to our next target. Agent has done his job, conducted an auction. Edited 7 July, 2013 by Window Cleaner
Window Cleaner Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 (edited) Why? There'll be competition for all good targets. Giving up easily doesn't seem like a good strategy. pretty obvious that the player doesn't really want to come here, wasn't he on record as saying he was "waiting for a top 4 club" Are Everton not in Europe ? that is a deal maker or breaker for many players, especially in a WC season, not that Wanyama will be concerned with that. Spudders Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 The longer this thread goes on the more I keep thinking I have accidentally gone onto the muppet show ! Good observation skills. Here's +1 reputations points. Keep the point somewhere safe as Bearsy will try and nick it off you to sell down at cash converters. Tokyo will be along later to post some pictures of boobs.

The Kraken Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 Aren't all clubs hit and miss when it comes to signings?I don't understand what relevance that has to, well, anything about this thread really. Other than to prove the point that its a bit daft for a fan of any club, let alone ours, to choose to implicity trust the club over every signing they make simply because they're professionals and its their job. Which was what the comment was in response to.

The people at the club who are professionals and charged with spending big money or some anonymous bloke on an internet forum. Whatever you answer is it doesn't stop debate. Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 Looking at Neil Lennon's comments, I wonder whether we'll here some positive news before Tuesday before Celtic next play again? Hopefully the Everton link is just a red herring.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 The guy on SSN said the deal is back on. See my post from few days back..... You're about a week behind as deal was most definitly dead = agents + Cardiff + other 3rd party interference!! However as i posted 3-4 days back the deal is back ON!! SFC reignited their interest last Tuesday and fresh contract talks are looking positive.
Saint Charlie Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 Nixon still adamant Wanyama wants to move to Everton.
itchen_dan Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 From our favourite tweeters @andrew_halford: @reluctantnicko Evening Alan, any Southampton news ? @reluctantnicko: @andrew_halford Waiting and watching Wanyama ...
itchen_dan Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 No one seems to have picked up on the news that his agent has flown into the UK. Make of that what you will. Was apparently part of the SSN transfer piece.
thorpie the sinner Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 Mr Nixon adamant he doesn't want to join us! lets see
itchen_dan Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 Mr Nixon adamant he doesn't want to join us! lets see There is no chance on this earth that we'd be stupid enough to pursue this deal this far, speak publicly about him etc without asking the guy if he wants to join us or not. Under previous management / chairmen, yes, but under Cortese and the committee, no chance.

Under previous management / chairmen, yes, but under Cortese and the committee, no chance. Agreed, think it will be tied up within next couple of days, possibly by tomorrow evening. News of agent flying over certainly bodes well. Andrew Halford ay? I should really stop following the guy but it's amusing to watch how someone can be so consistently wrong about everything Saints-related.

Viking Warrior Posted 7 July, 2013 Posted 7 July, 2013 Saint Armstrong very clever comments re Wanyama . You will be correct he could sign for anyone even a contract extension with Celtic
Bucks Saint Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 Wanyama will sign. That is all. I hope thats not all. I think he may play football as well
110_Persaint Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 So will it be Wanyama-Schneiderlin, Cork-Schneiderlin, or Waynama-Cork?
thorpie the sinner Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 So will it be Wanyama-Schneiderlin, Cork-Schneiderlin, or Waynama-Cork? or Wanyama-Feillani
ericofarabia Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 or Wanyama-Feillani So Everton are in for him then.
thorpie the sinner Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 So we are told, personally I think we should make a move for the big hair man instead alongside Wanyama!!!
Red Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 The longer this thread goes on the more I keep thinking I have accidentally gone onto the muppet show ! It is a flamingMuppet Show - and the gutless moderators are encouraging that with allowing theusual dozen or so kiddies in the playground to bully the rest! thorpie the sinner Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 Waiting for Evertons bid to be finalised! Could be a while if they have to sell first! Still think we have been too open here, convinced our main targets are under wraps!

Still think we have been too open here, convinced our main targets are under wraps! This is where saints web come into its own. Do you really think that transfer deals are done in the press Lets be honest. Hardly any... If at all have any idea on how this process works Deciding what is what by what you read/hear in the media is just silly

It helps the summer go quicker! I take anything with a pinch of salt until it is announced as definite but I do take store from trusted sources more than others!
itchen_dan Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 Kone to Everton complete. That also means they have £5m less than before to put towards any Wanyama deal.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 Kone to Everton complete. That also means they have £5m less than before to put towards any Wanyama deal. They got the same TV money as everyone else and may well be selling Fellaini or Baines anyway. Wouldnt read anything into this.
itchen_dan Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 They got the same TV money as everyone else and may well be selling Fellaini or Baines anyway. Wouldnt read anything into this. They're usually pleading poverty every transfer window anyway and Martinez seems to only want to sign Wigan players. Loan deal for Joel (Wigan goalkeeper at end of last season) also on the cards apparently. Plus, I can't see Fellaini going. Only Baines. And would he be that stupid to spend £12m on a CM when they'd need a left back? I really can't see Everton getting Wanyama.

(Maybe that's changed now Moyes has left)
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 Fellani can only leave if a bid of £23 Million or more is accepted, Baines will only go to a North West club as he is close to his family, City or United are the probable options.
thorpie the sinner Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 Now Saints 13-8, Everton 7-4 from 6's and Cardiff 15-8! Someone has popped in with a tenner!!

Just helps keep the fees down perhaps although I doubt if other clubs fall for their "we're skint" attitude these days. Nigh on 52 million £ in PL receipts, 36K+ home gates, big fee for letting Moyes go to Manure, yep, they've not 2 halfpennies to rub together.
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 July, 2013 Posted 8 July, 2013 People on here I understand are going to be a little bit biased about our club but such one eyed skewed vision is stupid, Everton, Liverpool and Spurs are all far far bigger than us so to secure the players us and them want we will have to pay more, thats the reality of it, why would a player choose us over them? Why?
