Victor Wanyama - Officially Signed

Hardly fills me with dread as it will take Everton weeks to scramble together the pennies for this deal, unless of course, they are close to selling Fellaini/Baines. Not sure why the headlines reads 'Saints interest cools'. Nothing in the body of the article to suggest this, and all the stuff on the OS suggests we are very much in the hunt.

Everton got 11.3m for finishing 6th!

Baines and Fellaini should raise £25m.

True, but I'm sure Martinez would loathe to lose both, and unless either of these deals are close to completion, I'd be surprised if Everton were in a position to make a firm offer any time soon.

Close to spending £5m of that on Kone. New TV deal might free up some more money for them, but can't see Kenwright (tight wad) parting with £12m + agent fees before selling.

Paid £15m for Fellaini

Yeah true, but they've not got close to spending that in last 4-5 years. Moyes was always forced to be creative with finances (not in the offshore account called 'Rosie' sense) to bring new players in. I'd definitely be surprised if they brought Wanyama in before shipping Fellaini out. Definitely could not see those two in the same midfield.

VICTOR WANYAMA’S £12.5million move to Southampton is back ON.

Neil Lennon revealed last night the Kenyan midfielder is holding fresh contract talks with the Premiership club. Saints tabled their whopping offer to the Parkhead club last month — which was accepted — only for the player and his agent to snub their deal.

Cardiff then entered the race before pulling out last week.

Lennon revealed: “We gather Southampton have reignited their interest.

“If nothing materialises he will play some of the next game on Tuesday.

“His fitness levels won’t be a major worry for me it’s just getting his football up to speed.”

Just read the talk celtic site

Whilst I believe wanyama will improve our squad and is a very good player.

Why are they saying he is really a £25m player that is good enough to walk into a top 4 side

He will go for less than half that amount and so far, the real offers have been fr Cardiff and saints

Why are the arsenals of this world, who like a bargain, not snapping such a player up and such a give away price?

Because its not a giveaway price.

I can't believe we're prepared to spend £12m on him. He's big and athletic, but not a great footballer.

£12m does not buy you a great footballer these days

It should buy better than that. 12 yellows a season playing against average players and a terrible range of passing doesn't excite me, especially at £12m

so should we trust your judgement against that of the saints scouting team who have probably seen him play live on more than one occasion?

out of interest how many times have you seen him play? i havent and dont know a great deal about him.

Whoa wild man. I thought this was a forum where opinions are expressed.

IMO (having seen him play several times) he's athletic but erratic in the tackle and not a good passer. If you can't win a clean tackle against Scotland prem midfielders you're gonna struggle against the prem finest.

When he's not suspended he'll help our pressing game but from what I've seen he won't help us keep the ball or hit accurate passes like MS or even cork.

At the end of this article on Beram Kayal, Lennon says "it's too big a deal not to go through". Seems to sum up Celtic's position throughout this drawn out saga. If he's going, it's to the club paying the most to them!

was just interested in understanding what reasons were behind your opinion of him. its interesting that you are concerned he has a really poor range of passing skills, when i would have thought that would be very high up on the list of attributes that any player we are after has in his locker, particularly when you look at our style of play and history of recent signings.

does this mean we are changing our position on what is important in a player or that the scoutning team have just ****ed up in your opinion?

Didn't know that was my opinion, but thanks for your opinion of my opinion.

My opinion is that he's a more athletic player than we have but a lesser footballer. You've never seen him play so its probably best not to express an opinion, or speculate about the opinions of others.

Any, footy is about opinions so allow people to express theirs.

Classic SWF! Nobody has seen him play, but everyone is happy to write him off.

Anyone that has seen him play will have seen that he's dominated every game he's played in..... Including champs league games.

What more can he do?

Well said...he is a very good young player, not the finished article but no one is at that age.

I'd probably say 75% of people on here haven't even heard of him and write him off due to his price tag...even more haven't seen him play. I have and know he will be a very good player down here if he joins.

hee hee, I love the retrospective contradictory posts I make lol!!!! My second thought prevails unfortunately

You're about a week behind as deal was most definitly dead = agents + Cardiff + other 3rd party interference!!

However as i posted 3-4 days back the deal is back ON!! SFC reignited their interest last Tuesday and fresh contract talks are looking positive.

You can only play the team in front of you ... the spl may not be up to much but he's looked decent in champions league and the scouting team tend to get more right then wrong imo.

oh my mistake i thought you said he wasnt a good passer. is not being a good passser not the same as a poor range of passing skills then? the rest of my post was my opinion on whether that was an important attribute to saints and asking your opinion on whether it is still important or if its is have they ****ed up.

feel free to read my post again and then give me your opinion as im actually interested bearing in mind unhave seen him play amd i havent?

That's not what my mate said. He went to see him play in a game against Inverness and he was awful. Couldn't pass wind, constantly gave the ball away, couldn't control it, scored two own goals gave away a penalty and got sent off. The fenians call him the Kenyan Terry Hurlock. One to be aw avoided.

You're an idiot mate. I haven't said that my opinion is that the transfer committee have messed up. I just don't rate this player as highly as some. That seemingly includes you, despite you never having seen him play.

I never thought I'd call you the voice of reason Del but on this occasion you are. Completely over rated.
