reports state he's currently moving in to his new rental property in the local area, this image is proof, judging by the hair anyway

John-Mikel-Obi-Home.jpg

Image URL is from Nigeria Good News.com (Wanyama is Kenyan) and the image has the name John-Mikel-Obi-Home.jpg, are you trying to pull a fast one??

Apart from that, it's a nice house, where is it? Chilworth?

There's a report that the Cardiff bid is £11m, although that's just as likely to be an old story as it is to be untrue but much as I want to see SFC make some signings, I'm still not a fan of Wanyama and feel we could do better if Cortese is really working at it. Last season we had already dropped points by the time we made the final signings and we'd dropped even more before the new players were settled in. Let's not have more of the same this year because as the days pass the potential targets get their future settled elsewhere.

Not sure. An ITK on Cardiff forum says he hasnt signed but they are very confident they will sign him.

how will celtics fans deal with that.

a player who is easily good enough for top 4 of the prem is being signed by cardiff.

im sure he is a good player. but if he is good enough to walk into the arsenal or chelsea teams, why are they not snapping the celtic hand off for circa £12m

Surely if Cardiff want him that much and the Player wants to go there they will just up their bid.

It could also come down to the instalment plan. Maybe we are able and/or willing to pay a bigger sum up front.

Quite possibly. Which then makes it odd that we couldn't agree terms - unless Cardiff are willing to bung the agent some cash.

What would be the point of agreeing a very attractive fee with Celtic if we had no idea of what Wanyama and the Agent were looking for.

Could it be that agent said that they wanted a certain type of wages for the player, the club might have accepted that and when talks continued THEN the agent said "oh and yes I want this for myself too".....(not in those obvious words though I would presume)....

And that made the club to back off the deal cause they were accepting the "normal percentage" for the agent fee....

To put this into perspective, you can pick up 29 year old Mathieu Flamini for virtually "free" as a Defensive midfielder if we really want another one. He has loads of experience, undoubted skill, and can do the DM job at least as good as Cork.....Has just turned down a AC Milan two year extension at $150,000/month cos he wants three years at £280,000/month.

If we got him for "free" on £200,000 a month that means the £12,000,000 we would previously be giving to Celtic could go towards the superstriker and the full back. There is no resale value with Flamini and he is injury prone - but without a fee (or very little) it might be sensible, he would certainly add European and EPL "know-how" to our squad.

If you pay a player like him that kind of wages it will soon be very expensive cause you would have to pay a lot of players even more.

And is those figures net or not....

150K dollars a month is just top end championship pay. Would doubt if we have many first team regulars on less than that. works out at about 22K£ a week. 280K£ a month would be more than double that so I suspect you've got your currencies mixed up. Why would Flamini want to be paid in sterling by an Italian club anyway. Anyway at say an average of 30K£ a week with bonuses he would be an excellent addition for Saints.

not good enough for Arsenal, certainly not good enough for us (said with tongue firmly in cheek).

he was good enough for Arsenal, just didn't want to stay there and get paid in bottle tops and beer-mats. Arsenal do not pay at all

well which is why they have difficulty signing and keeping top players. Italian clubs now pay badly except for top top Italian players which is why they also are having difficulty getting top players.

Higuain?

Sid Lowe and Tancredi Palmeri have both said in the last few minutes that it's very close to completion.

not convinced that Higuain earns an awful lot at Real so Arsenal probably won't have much difficulty meeting his demands. If you believe Marca and As he's on a bit over 50K£ a week at Real so Arsenal should be able to land him at 70K a week fairly easily. In fact he'll be a snip compared to Rooney who'll want 200K+

We agreed terms with Celtic ages ago. That is not the issue.

Yes. But what is the point in doing that (apparantly a few weeks of talks) if as soon as we hear the player/agent demands we cannot fulfil them.

Agent would have known of our interest and we would have spoken to him whilst dealing with Celtic.

The Agent clearly encouraged us as we wouldnt have bothered with agreeing a fee otherwise.

probably some sort of dirty trick to encourage Cardiff to pay 12 million £ for a player who's probably worth about 5. did this not happen to us with Gaston ? Must be some sort of initiation rite to the EPL. You are not one of us until you've squandered 12 million on a maybe/maybe not player.:D:D
