Sour Mash Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Saints and particularly NC , are professional and do not announce anything until the deal is done> Thats the way it should be done. not this squabbling by some clubs and agents. I would imagine saints moved on straight away from this transfer if indeed it was true in the first place. Most clubs don't announce anything until the deal is done, we're not particularly unique in that.

70's Mike Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Most clubs don't announce anything until the deal is done, we're not particularly unique in that. eXCEPT THE SKATES who are signing Messi and Ronaldo
O_RLY Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Bearsy spotted him on the Jonus bros forum earlier as well! http://fanclub.jonasbrothers.com/community/topic/756732-what-is-the-best-venue-u-have-seen-jonas-brothers-play/ He saves his golden posts for TMS thou. Ahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. First time this forum has made me laugh since the good old days of the Steve Mclaren phone thread, the O_RLY thread and the Peter Crouch can do anything thread.
Suomi Saint Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 The agent's comments don't show either of them in a good light do they? Even complaining he didn't get a big pay rise by moving to QPR last summer? Surely he views that as a lucky escape in a footballing sense, but that doesn't seem all that important to them does it - all about the money. If we did offer terms as they claim, given the chat about Gaston's big money, I doubt it was a derisory offer either. Bit bored of this one now I think we are all bored of this one now - time to move on.....
Bearsy Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 I'm a little disappointed MLG hasn't gone in with a few more posts. I've checked out that Pantages Theatre. It's tiny. It holds only 3,000 people. Surely SMS, with over 10x capacity and nearby catering facilities at the King Alfred, would be a better fit than that sh!thole. to be honest it is v.time consuming being MLG! I have massive respect for him, i dunno how he does it. I see he's given more infos now but it don't really seem to make much sense. It's almost as if he is just cut+paste from other forums!
egreog Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Simply time to move on. No doubt Cardiff and other clubs will discover the reasonable demands or otherwise in due course. I have to think that this sort of language and posturing does nothing for the reputation of agents and even less for their client, the player who seems to be a puppet in this whole affair, whoever it may be. Its a reputation that will build for the player & agent and follow them the next time they need a move. For Saints , would this be a long term committed signing.?? I think not and would cause more issues than it would resolve
Olallana Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Safe to say that comments from Neil Lennon confirms that we are professionals and the agents not so much... If people that hasn´t followed all the stories might wonder...
Matthew Le God Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Official confirmation that Celtic accepted a bid from Southampton for Wanyama... Celtic Football Club @celticfc 14m Neil Lennon speaking to media on Victor Wanyama situation: "Lot of talk. We accepted a bid from Southampton, done nothing wrong." Celtic Football Club @celticfc 14m NL: "Ball firmly in his representatives court. Unhappy, as we dealt with it as professionally as possible." Celtic Football Club @celticfc 14m NL: "All we did was accept a bid from Southampton, a very good, progressive club." Celtic Football Club @celticfc 14m NL: "But there seems to be other parties wanting to block the deal." Celtic Football Club @celticfc 13m NL: "We felt the money was right for us, a good business deal for the club. Whether it resurfaces again, I don't know." Celtic Football Club @celticfc 13m NL: "The fact we accepted a bid tells you we felt it matched our valuation of the player. Don't know where we are with it at minute." ................ Nice words from Neil Lennon "Southampton, a very good, progressive club".
MOSaint Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 (edited) Seems Celtic think his representatives are crooked too. Edited 26 June, 2013 by MOSaint
St.Patrik Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 The positive thing here is that we now know we have at least £12mill to spend on players : )
Olallana Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Nice words from Neil Lennon "Southampton, a very good, progressive club". You will be using that on the Celtic fans forum I presume...??
St Marco Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Really hope we walk away from this guy now as can see his agents causing problems in the future which could disrupt us. He is a decent player but I think for that money we could get someone better.
Saint Charlie Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Hopefully it will be sorted, the agent will bow to the pressure and Wanyama realise we are the right club to push him on. He is a very good player...
MOSaint Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 http://extratime.es/team/imodia.html Apparently, Ivan Modia (the more vocal of his agents) is an ex-journalist who used to write for the Daily Mail (amongst others). Guess that explains why he gives them so many quotes.

Cabrone Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Hopefully it will be sorted, the agent will bow to the pressure and Wanyama realise we are the right club to push him on. He is a very good player... He does look like a decent player but we already have 2 decent DMs and there are plenty of other good players out there for £12M. If we do get him then great but it won't be the end of the world if we don't. I don't want it dragging on TBH. The biger issue is that the club is doing the right thing not giving into greedy agents. The Don has made his statement.

Big Bad Bob Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 This all happened two weeks ago, you would think Cortese has moved on for someone else? He probably has, we haven't..
Saint Charlie Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Not sure you spend a few weeks agreeing a 12m investment to just walk away at the first hint of hassle. To those who say we already have two good DMs I would suggest that if we had 3 we wouldn't have had 4 points from the first 10 games last year....its a squad game.

Very true, take Cork and Spider out and we are very weak. I often believe that football is like a game of chess, if you control the centre then you dominate the game.
Saint Charlie Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Lennon: Lennon responded today by saying the club were not trying to force Wanyama to move, but he did add that he felt St Mary’s would be a good fit for the midfielder. "We accepted a bid from Southampton," said Lennon. "We've done nothing wrong in our eyes, as always, and the ball is firmly in the court of Victor's representatives. "We’ve dealt with it as professionally as possible. All we did was accept a bid from Southampton, a very good, progressive club. "Me personally, I think it would be a very good move for Victor in terms of his career going forward, but there seem to be other parties wanting to block the deal. "These negotiations take a long time. We felt the money was right for us, a good business deal for the club. Whether it resurfaces again, I don't know. "The fact we've accepted a bid would tell you that we feel that matches our valuation of the player, and if a club does that you look at it. I don't know where we are with it at the minute but there seems to be a bit of a stand-off.”

VectisSaint Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 The positive thing here is that we now know we have at least £12mill to spend on players : ) The negative thing here is that everyone else knows it as well.
Saint Charlie Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 You understand that MLG will soon point at post #1111?? Oh I just made it for him... He missed out the key quote. "Me personally, I think it would be a very good move for Victor in terms of his career going forward, but there seem to be other parties wanting to block the deal. Hopefully Lennon can get in his ear. Also interesting Lennon doesn't say Wanyama doesn't want to come here.
Window Cleaner Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 The negative thing here is that everyone else knows it as well. well I doubt that it was a very big secret anyway especially after the "I'll reconsider my position if I can't carry out my plan" stuff. Doubt if it's ever been confirmed by anyone really in the know that the bid was for 12 million on the nose.

So there you have it, Lennon admits that Saints are superior to Celtic in footballing terms.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Stand down MLG, Lennon has read your posts and has decided to surrender.
sotonist Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 The negative thing here is that everyone else knows it as well. only a problem if the next option we value at less than 12m. If we're working up the scale it's a good negotiating point each time.

Wade Garrett Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Move on to the next target Nicola, dont want money grabbing gits and thier agents at our club. That wouldn't leave much to choose from in this day and age.
Smirking_Saint Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 Move on to the next target Nicola, dont want money grabbing gits and thier agents at our club. You never asked for more money at work ?
Colinjb Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 With the kind words from Neil Lennon.... I have a feeling this has a little longer to run.
ericofarabia Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 I thought it was being touted about that he is a beast of a Centre Half, and that was why we were in the hunt for him.
.comsaint Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 You never asked for more money at work ? To be fair - this is a totally different matter. I've no doubt Wanyama is getting paid handsomely at Celtic - and our offer was probably even more generous. The issue here is the gutty greedy agents.

It is what it is, until Fifa do something about agents then its gonna happen. I am talking about the 'we dont want the greedy bastard here' when in fact, those players that arent greedy bastards tend to be those that have little to offer.
Batman Posted 26 June, 2013 Posted 26 June, 2013 MLG. get off TalkCeltic and stop acting like a helmet on there do you really think Celtic fans give a flying about computer generated pictures of a pipe dream of a new stadium/development. or how good young Shaw is.

I was referring more about the greedy agent than the player, have no problem with a player earning a very high wage as long as WIN bonus's are a large percentage of the wage.
