No revelations in there. Just seems to be a 2 minute showcase for his English language skills :)

- Happy to have signed Lovren so early on in the window

- Everyone is very busy working in the background - no holidays

- Looking forward to the fixture list coming out

That's about the size of it

Matey needs a few weeks on the Flower Road estate, mush. We'll have him talking proper.

So many Spanish speakers do the "in this moment" lark to start with. Important is also an easy word to remember :)

Yes, both broadcast and written press.

Who and where and when.

And you are making claims against the entire "broadcast" and "written" press so there must be literally hundreds you can find.

Or, you're just lazily making stuff up.

I'm not going to bother looking for links for the smug, patronising people asking for them - but I know for a fact I read articles and heard people on radio shows criticising his inability to speak English when he took over. As well as a lot of people on here saying it would massively hold us back.

Quite funny that the MOTD season highlights included a quote from Pochettino though, saying "In football there is only one language...which is the language of football". I distinctly remember all 3 of the pundits on there laughing at the managerial change when it happened.

I also specifically remember an article from a journalist/columnist or some such saying that he hoped Southampton went down for their treatment of Adkins (treatment which, by the way, simply amounted to firing him).

For a start...

Paul Merson on Soccer Saturday and Martin Samuel of the Daily Mail.

Paul Merson, the guy who said Lambert wouldn't get more than 5 goals this year?

Not a very good witness for the defence buddy.

His second English interview.

The press can't use this as a stick to beat him with anymore.

links?

I was merely answering the question who in the press have used Pochettino's levels of English as a stick to beat him with. Not if those members of the press have a clue what they say.

Plus as Saints Clark pointed out, it has also come up on Match of the Day.

Then laughably use Martin "anti Saints agenda" Samuel and Paul friggin Merson as your evidence. So "the press" consisted of a recovering junkie, alkie washed up ex footballer who can hardly say his own name and a fat **** with and anti Saints agenda. Bravo MLG, Bravo.

Why is that laughable? Both Samuel and Merson are part of the football press, I was answering the question who in the press used it as a stick to beat him with. By naming those two, that is answering the question. The question wasn't "do those members of the press have a clue?".

As Saints Clark also pointed out, it came up of Match of the Day and other written publications.

Bloody hell Turkish, talk about taking my words out of the context they were written! You are very much "Mr Wrong" this time, not me.

I'm bored with you now.

Are they in the press? Yes

Did they use it as a stick to beat him with? Yes

Did I say they were just a couple of many examples? Yes

Did Saint Clark state some more examples from the press? Yes

Did I say everyone in the press did it or that respectable members of the press did it? No

Did I answer the question I was asked which was to name some examples? Yes

Pointless argument imo. Regardless of whether or not he was criticised on the press, a lack of ability to speak English well (not haltingly in simple sentences) is a big drawback in any organisation. That 'football is a universal language' argument is specious. IT is a universal language, as is burger flipping. You still need to speak to your staff, not only to convey ideas but also so they get to know and trust you as an individual . Obviously its possible to succeed without language initially, as long as you learn it fast. Having English speaking assistants also helps. But to argue not speaking the language well isnt a handicap is plain stupid.

To be fair he was stitched up a bit by Sky when they covered his first home game in charge against Everton. They did make a seem to dwell on his lack of English as a reason Adkins' sacking was "crazy." I'd be hard pushed to offer up any concrete evidence that he was the victim of any agenda but they certainly didn't do him any favours...
