None apart from I didn't score enough points, even though I've used finance for tickets since its been available.

All I can guess is, a change of finance company = different credit score calculator

I've had problems trying to renew online so decided to go down to the ticket office, now I've got 3 days to conjure up £750

All donations welcome :)

It is different, they are using zebra finance now, last season they it was DD, which they cocked up and didn't end up taking any payments out until September.

Yes,I know it was kept 'in house' last season but I've had finance for season tickets when it was offered a few years back without problems so obviously something has changed.....I'm no longer deemed the right person by the looks of it.

No always paid on time no problems and had 4 tickets on finance for a couple of years.

It's not just paying for your previous season tickets on time that matters - this new company would've had no idea you would've done that. They would've just got a general credit score for you which takes into account all sorts of things like paying any direct debits on time, going overdrawn on your bank, being rejected for credit previously, the amount of debt you're currently in etc.

Some people can't afford to pay all at once you fool.

That's a bit harsh. It's called planning; he was just offering advice. I get paid bugger all but I know it comes around each year so when I've got my new ST I just save maybe a tenner or so a week. You'd save in the long run.

Ever had a payday loan? (Wonga, Quid Quid etc...)

Some companies will refuse to lend to people who have used these organisations.

not the first time i've heard this, sounds like ******** though. any source?

The mortgage adviser I met with two saturdays ago. ;)

I can confirm as a Mortgage Advisor that lenders (for mortgage purposes) certainly do not like clients who have used pay day loans. They have a pidgeon hole'd view that it shows a sign of financial despiration and poor financial management which doesnt bode well when you are trying to get a mortgage. I would assume it is the same for other forms of finance like personal loans, credit cards and anything else which may require a credit check.

It could also be something you simply were not aware of. You can get a copy of your credit file from Credit Expert. Feel free to use our link http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-5438454-10366638 or just Google them. Check you have no defaults or county court judgements as that would affect your ability to get a number of forms of credit. Late and missed payments on credit cards and loans as well as going over overdraft limits also affect your score as well as a large number of recent credit checks. Credit Expert give you handy tips on how to improve your credit score too.

If anyone needed any mortgage advise by the way, feel free to drop me an email: ben@powermortgages.co.uk we're based in Southampton so nice and local to most of you and always keen to help a fellow Saints fan! (I know, shameless plug...)

From a rugby forum, posted this evening

News for anyone who has renewed via zebra, I rang the club regarding no news on zebra going through and was told their has been some sort of problems and anyone going through zebra has been extended to beginning of season as it could take some time to sort out

so it could perhaps be a general problem at Zebra rather than with fans' credit records

It doesn't seem on here that there are too many that have been rejected but as this forum obviously doesn't represent a fair cross section of the fan base there could be loads of people rejected,I know 2 others that have been rejected that don't post on here.

I contacted zebra but had a standard reply which I was expecting tbh,it seems they are so automated that there is no scope for common sense, liaising with the club to find out about previous payment history is too much to ask I suppose.

As with most companies these days they do a credit score check and if you dont meet criteria that is that, they dont have time/scope to go checking with the club to see if you are a good payer in the past.

I also got rejected but applied in my Mrs name out of my bank account as a few on here seem to have done.

Try putting the application through in a relative/friend's name but keep your bank account details (as advised above by a few).

I renewed on 3rd June through Zebra, and ST renewal shows on my transaction history on SFC's ticket website but not received my pack through the post yet. Anybody else had theirs? Tried phoning the club but had no luck in getting through on the 0845 no.

no not yet...........i take it that they will not be sent out until the 1st payment has gone through which is the 24th June for me.

Has anybody got their Season Ticket yet. I certainly have not although the Club were'nt slow in deducting the money from my bank account.

hahaha, cheers the info. for the record i am not personally affected by these type of loans, but finding the debate surrounding them interesting. I think its quuite hyporcritical for mortgage lenders to use that sort of criteria when they are the very people forcing a lot of people down that route by witholding regular forms of finance, that would have been available to those people a few years ago. it's a disgrace imo

You can understand that a lot of people have got into difficulty in recent times by borrowing too much without realising the full repercussions of the commitment? It's a difficult balance to get right but it did need to get tighter.

A friend of mine who didn't have the financial means to maintain his desired lifestyle accumulated 30k of debt.... all borrowed. He simply should not have been allowed to do that.

Thanks for the tip for free credit check, just done it but it states that if I don't cancel the free 30 day trial then it will be charged monthly. Can I just cancel by email (I couldn't see from a quick check) or something more formal. Very interesting report although it was nothing I didn't expect.

Yeah of course absolutely I do understand that. Your friend is a prime example. But here's another example for you: Person A has £5k in unsecured debts, occurred through whatever personal circumstances that could happen to anyone, and not necessarily on purpose. Say £4k is made up of credit cards, and they have a £1k overdraft. They get 3 weeks through the month, need to buy food or have an unexpected bill. Run out of overdraft and credit cards are maxxed out. If the mainstream banks are refusing a loan to consolidate these debts what choice do you have, pay day loan or not eat? (assuming you can't borrow off family/friends). This is the situation a lot of people get in to. A personal loan is not the greatest solution but at least it would give people a chance to get back on their feet, often repaying significantly less a month back

They should have tried not to get into that situation in the first place I would say and attempt to get savings behind them. It is difficult. The banks now have tightened up a lot more than they were (good thing). But payday loans IMO are the absolute worst thing you can do. The interest rates are phenominal and for most financial insititutions turning to these shows financial desperation.

I have always be one that preaches from the, if you cant afford it dont get it camp.

Everytime you apply for credit, whether you take it or not, it will affect your credit rating.

I think everyone agrees that its better to earn the money before paying for things, but people can and do get into difficulty and its not always their fault. Its become harder and harder to save money due to tightening of wages and general lack of decently paid jobs.

To be honest, the banks underwrite these loans and know exactly what they're doing, squeezing the most amount of money possible out of their customer base. It's all about balancing risk, which is how their business works.
