Whitey Grandad Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 Oh brilliant! Just when I needed to get home earlier. We're going to the Mayflower tonight. Thanks for the warning.

S-Clarke Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 A normal 30min journey home took me 2 hours 10 mins. And that was going Southbound. Think both directions were closed at one point for the Air Ambulance. Even routes in and around Southampton are absolute grid lock - do not even attempt Southampton road. Really hope everyone involved ends up ok, but it didn't look great to be honest.
dingbattigger Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 Reports now say; a serious accident involving a motorway maintenance lorry, another lorry and two vans.

LGTL Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 An articulated lorry hit into motorway maintainance vehicles that were on the hard shoulder. 3 people injured 1 seriously. The traffic was horrendous.
Toomer Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 I work in Tower Lane and live Rownhams it took me 1 hour 15 mins to get home southbound would have been OK if not for the rubber neckers the lorry drive has been arrested for driving with out due care and attention,
warsash saint Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 Does a day go by without an accident on this stretch?????
Grey Crab Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Any news on whether Whitey Grandad managed to get to the theatre okay? There was nothing about him missing the show on the news.

Thanks to the advance notice on this wonderful forum I was warned in advance and managed to leave Hamble early at 16:50, then through the town centre and up Shirley High Street to North Baddesley and home in Chandlers Ford just after 18:00. Not trusting the traffic we rushed to catch the 18:14 train with a minute to spare. Not a bad show if you like cats.

I did think twice about starting a new thread about it but thought if it helps one person out then it will have served a purpose. They'll make a socialist out of me yet #bigsociety

They'll make a socialist out of me yet #bigsociety Indeed. This incident is also a reminder to us all how dangerous the hard shoulder is. During my dealings with the Highways Agency I was told a couple of figures which I cannot verify. Life expectancy on the hard shoulder is not much more than twenty minutes. I think it's a case that those who had unfortunately been killed on the hard shoulder had been there for less than 26 minutes on average. The rumble strips between the hard shoulder and the near side lane have to be replaced every few months because they are worn out so quickly by vehicles wandering to the left. TopGun Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 My mum is not a forum reader, much to her cost. She decided to go to Romsey and the queue to the start of the M3 at Chilworth started by Highfield Church!

You share the same surname.
