Mayonnaise, a jar of which Beasant dropped on his foot which ruled him out of playing.

I always thought it was Salad Cream. Google not helping. Luckily it was an unofficial question. Sorry Colin.

OK, slightly obscure one. In the early 90s a competition was held whereby each First Division club entered a player into a 100m race, which they ran in their kit and football boots. Who was Saints' entrant?

Neil Heaney?

It was Jon Gittens! Most random. He actually did quite well, got through his first heat.

If only he was as good at defending.

Which former footballer who scored 3 goals for Saints in the 80s committed suicide in the 90s?

Surely not Gittens? He's already been an answer - far too much airtime for one so ****e.

I saw him mark Ian Rush totally out of the game at the Dell and thought we'd signed the next Des Walker.

Then Barnsley permanent. (then - irrelevant to the question - Swansea for ever more...)

As abnormal dan is only a registered user I think he just used up his 3 posts for the day.

I've checked and you're right SaintBobby. Your turn.

OK - think that's well gone 15 minutes...

This season having been promoted, we witnessed a poor QPR side get relegated. However, when we were last promoted to the top flight in 1977, a QPR side featuring Rodney Marsh were one of the best teams in England. What was the score between Saints and QPR in the home fixture at The Dell that season?

1-1 unless I have my years wrong it was a foggy day if I am right

You are right - though it was of course 1978 that Saints were promoted. My recollection was that it was a 0-0 draw as it was the first game I ever saw, but having checked my facts, I was wrong. So, yes, 1-1! Over to you...! :)

Rodney Marsh left QPR in 1972. By 78 he was playing in the USA.
