CB Fry Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Mayonnaise, a jar of which Beasant dropped on his foot which ruled him out of playing. I always thought it was Salad Cream. Google not helping. Luckily it was an unofficial question. Sorry Colin.
Turkish Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 OK, slightly obscure one. In the early 90s a competition was held whereby each First Division club entered a player into a 100m race, which they ran in their kit and football boots. Who was Saints' entrant? Neil Heaney?
The Kraken Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Neil Heaney? It wasn't. This would have been 1991 or 1992 I'd have thought, just slightly pre-Premier League era.

The Kraken Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 No and no. I'll give a clue; this was the player's second spell with us.
Turkish Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 No and no. I'll give a clue; this was the player's second spell with us. Jon Gittens.
CB Fry Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Surely not Gittens? He's already been an answer - far too much airtime for one so ****e.
The Kraken Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Jon Gittens. It was Jon Gittens! Most random. He actually did quite well, got through his first heat.
Turkish Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 It was Jon Gittens! Most random. He actually did quite well, got through his first heat. If only he was as good at defending. Which former footballer who scored 3 goals for Saints in the 80s committed suicide in the 90s?

Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 which 5 teams did garry monk go out on loan too whilst a southampton player? and who did he sign for after saints? Remember, the point will go to the poster who finishes the set.
SaintBobby Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 which 5 teams did garry monk go out on loan too whilst a southampton player? and who did he sign for after saints? Torquay, Stockport, Sheff Wed, Barnsley and Oxford.
John Boy Saint Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Here's your chance johnboy.... Blast!! I was watching the Golf and got distracted!! I thought that was Hassan Kaschoul who nearly stole Mattys glory!!
Chez Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Surely not Gittens? He's already been an answer - far too much airtime for one so ****e. I saw him mark Ian Rush totally out of the game at the Dell and thought we'd signed the next Des Walker.
Turkish Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Torquay, Stockport, Sheff Wed, Barnsley and Oxford. When he left He went straight to Swansea didn't he? When they were in the lower leagues.
SaintBobby Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 When he left He went straight to Swansea didn't he? When they were in the lower leagues. yep, but direct transfer I think - not loan then transfer

SaintBobby Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 nope , he didnt turkish. had a short and unsuccesfull spell at another club I'm saying Barnsley (and after this spell on to Swansea)
SaintBobby Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Torquay, Stockport, Sheff Wed, Barnsley and Oxford. Then Barnsley permanent. (then - irrelevant to the question - Swansea for ever more...)
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Torquay, Stockport, Sheff Wed, Barnsley and Oxford. Then Barnsley permanent. (then - irrelevant to the question - Swansea for ever more...) As abnormal dan is only a registered user I think he just used up his 3 posts for the day. I've checked and you're right SaintBobby. Your turn.
SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 OK - think that's well gone 15 minutes... This season having been promoted, we witnessed a poor QPR side get relegated. However, when we were last promoted to the top flight in 1977, a QPR side featuring Rodney Marsh were one of the best teams in England. What was the score between Saints and QPR in the home fixture at The Dell that season? (NB I'm only a registered user so I will only respond if someone gets the right answer - or else, Colin, email me at jacko_neil@yahoo.com)
John Boy Saint Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 1-1 unless I have my years wrong it was a foggy day if I am right
SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 1-1 unless I have my years wrong it was a foggy day if I am right You are right - though it was of course 1978 that Saints were promoted. My recollection was that it was a 0-0 draw as it was the first game I ever saw, but having checked my facts, I was wrong. So, yes, 1-1! Over to you...!
