lifeintheslowlane Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Man united 1969. I was in the Milton end and for most of that game we were packed so tightly my feet hardly touched the ground...and I'm 6'2" and 13 stone.
RonManager Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 I was in the Milton end and for most of that game we were packed so tightly my feet hardly touched the ground...and I'm 6'2" and 13 stone. I nearly died in the crush to get in, pinned against the wall outside the Milton end. Thankfully someone noticed and lifted me out. I still dream about it.
100% Saint Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 As 15 mins has gone can I ask a question? If so it would be: Who were the opposition on the 11th May 1979 for the Lawrie McMenemy testimonial match?
Right sider Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 What was the result of the first Ted Bates trophy match and why was the atmosphere muted that night.
The Kraken Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 What was the result of the first Ted Bates trophy match and why was the atmosphere muted that night.Pretty sure it was against Bayern, don't know about the atmosphere, other than that they thrashed us?
Right sider Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Was not a thrashing, far from it. Beattie nearly scored a screamer.
The Kraken Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Also, wasn't in November time and not a summer competition? I have no idea why the atmosphere was muted. All Saints Day?
Right sider Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 January, just before 4th round as we were knocked out and they were on mid season break
supersonic Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Pretty sure it was against Bayern, don't know about the atmosphere, other than that they thrashed us? they thrashed us 1-1...
Right sider Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Correct, the atmosphere was rubbish as the club sold just the itchen, the kingsland, then the two ends, meant that any vocal support was spread around the ground. They didn't think it would sell but it was nearly a sell out iirc. Ormerod opened the scoring.
Colinjb Posted 19 June, 2013 Author Posted 19 June, 2013 If supersonic is about. His question.... if not. In 15 minutes the floor is open.

Big Bad Bob Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Stephen John "Steve" Finnan (born 24 April 1976) is a retired Irish international footballer who played as a right back. He is the only player to have played in the World Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, Intertoto Cup, all four levels of the English league football and the Football Conference. Finnan is known for his attacking role and "ability to cross the ball. Oh bugger, it's got World Cup in there, you never asked that!

Turkish Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Need a clue. He only actually played for one club, most of his appearances below premier league level came whilst out on loan elsewhere.
Saint Garrett Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Absolutely no idea then. Was thinking maybe Earnshaw but he's played for Wales. Stumped!
Big Bad Bob Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Already had him and its not him, he played for his country. I know, I was trying to point out the text but I'm on my phone and fecked up!
