Nope, it's Leeds 0-1 Saints, 29/10/66

Ron scored with a header from a corner taken by David Thompson (in for Sydenham). Leeds battered us but McLaren kept them out. I went to game with my Dad and older cousins and we managed to get back to their house, in Wokingham, in time to see MOTD.

OK then, here goes:

Which player's interview with the Echo led to Gordon Strachan banning any player under the age of 21 speaking to the Press without the managers permission?

(Anyone who knows me and probably knows the answer as a result, is not allowed to answer! ;) )

Neither of them... interestingly I can't find any mention of it on the web anywhere, so if someone gets this by remembering it, I will be impressed. Clues to follow if need be.

Nope.

Here's a clue: He never appeared for the first team, and the interview that led to the sanction was about that exact fact.

How about those of us that know you but still don't have a bleeding clue :?

We have a winner!

Jacinto did an interview in the Pink at the same time I was working for the Echo covering the Youth Academy... he was basically saying that he thought he deserved a chance in the First Team. Strachan didn't like and put the ban in place, but I didn't know about this when I went along for my regular weekly interview with an Academy player...

I pitched up at Staplewood, told Stewart Henderson who I wanted to speak to that week, and he said 'OK' and nothing else... so I'm then stood pitchside interviewing (I think) Matt Crowell, and WGS comes striding over, shouting at me 'Hey, stop that, stop what you're doing!'... then proceeds to launch into me about 'you lot' meaning the Press (even though I was just doing an hour a week freelance), right infront of David Coles, Paul Jones, Neil Moss doing their keeper training in the corner of the training pitch. They just laughed, and I felt rather small!

Stewart Henderson came back out afterwards, and I told him about it... he just said 'Oh yeah, sorry about that, I forgot!'

It was my own little taste of what a half-time team talk must've felt like from WGS!

Cheat!!!

Are we not allowed to use research material then?

I have to ask a question now don't I....I can't actually think of anything hard enough for you boys, can I defer to someone?

We went 11 years without winning an away game having been behind until 2006, What game was it? and who scored?

Arsenal, Villa, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Man U and Spurs are the 7 teams who we have played every season we've spent in the Premier League.

Name the 8 teams who we have only played against for ONE season whilst in the EPL.

Ok, I will make this a bit more specific:

Name the only Saints manager who has also played for both Southampton and the skates.

Hint: He was the first ex Southampton player to take the job as manager.

Well Alan ball played for and managed us and managed them and Steve Wigley played for them and managed us. Not sure any managers that have played for both.

Okay I cheated and there is one, is be amazed if anyone other than fitzhugh fella knows the answer though!

Could be an easy point for him!

It has to be one of these (from a prevoius question) - Arthur Dominy, Arthur Chadwick, Tom Parker, Bill Dodgin, Ted Bates, Ball, Nicholl, Gray, Wise.
