Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 (edited) Let's revive this idea and see how it pans out. The rules are as so. I will ask a Saints quiz question, whoever answers it correctly will then post the next question. - Only one question can be live at one time. - The first person to answer correctly will post the next question - If a new question has not been posted within 15 minutes, one may be posted by the first to react. - Each question must have one definitive answer, I will keep tally of who is doing well.... so this makes it easier to score things. - Also, it's my thread so i'm quizmaster...... First question: Who was our first signing after the Leibherr takeover? Scores (As of Post 639.) 12 - Colinjb 6 - Turkish, Chez 5 - The Kraken 4 - Right Sider, SaintBobby, John Boy Saint 3 - TheDellDays, Saint Scott 1 - MLG, Saint Garrett, Chewy, 100% Saint, dan abnormal, Bearsy, CB Fry, Sour Mash, Lets B Avenue, Minty, Big Bad Bob, stug 76 Edited 18 June, 2013 by Colinjb
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 1 point to MLG, have a feeling you will be good at this... Your question.
Matthew Le God Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Who was the last player to sign for Southampton whilst Rupert Lowe was the chairman?
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 If you mean permanent transfer rather then a loan, Ryan Smith?
Matthew Le God Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Zoltan Liptak? If you mean permanent transfer rather then a loan, Ryan Smith? I meant any kind of signing, so you were right with Liptak. I should have perhaps been clearer! Your question.
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 Which youngster made his first team debut at Elland Road this season?
Saint Garrett Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 How many league goals did Jason puncheon score this season? And who were they against?
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 Five Aston Villa Chelsea Reading QPR Manchester City
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 Which Saint achieved league victory with Helsingborgs in 1999?
Appy Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Which Saint achieved league victory with Helsingborgs in 1999? Anders Svensson?
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 Jesus is our right back? It wasn't Alex Ostlund, no.
Chewy Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Killer, mikael Nilsson or Jakobson? Running out of swedes here ...
Matthew Le God Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Andreas Jakobsson http://www.worldfootball.net/teams/helsingborgs-if/1999/2/
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 Killer, mikael Nilsson or Jakobson? Running out of swedes here ... I'll give it, it was Andreas Jakobsson. You just beat MLG to the punch. Your turn mate.
Chewy Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Hmm ok, probably a few variations on a right answer, but name a saints XI of players who were current England internationals when they played for us. Needs to be in a sensible formation!

Needs to be in a sensible formation! Stretching the quiz rules a bit.... the answers do need one definitive answer..... But it's an interesting one so i'll allow it just this once.
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 Should people be allowed multiple guesses? It was cheeky but he was the first to say Jakobsson.
Chewy Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Unlike mlt to be a stickler anyway, thanks for the leniency, but I can only think of one right back and one left back so I might be ok!
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 Right here we go, Using the most attacking 3-4-3 you've ever known: GK: Peter Shilton D: Mark Wright D: Mick Mills D: Wayne Bridge M: Terry Paine M: Mick Channon M: Le Tissier M: Danny Wallace S: James Beatie S: Peter Crouch S: Kevin Keegan Lining up like so: --- Beattie ------ Crouch ------ Keegan --- Paine ------ Le Tissier - Channon --- Wallace ---- Bridge ------ Wright ------ Mills ------- ----------------- Shilton ------------------

Not entirely sure if dave Watson played for England while with us, but i was thinking of a 4-4-2 of Shilton, mills, Watson, wright, bridge, Paine, Williams, Armstrong, Wallace, le tiss and Channon. Ball and Keegan were obvious, but well done on crouch (if true?) and Beattie .... Can't believe I missed him. And was shearer given his debut while a saint? Fairly sure he was. Anyway, your turn.
Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 (edited) Good call on Dave Watson!! I believe Crouch was still contracted to us when he made his England debut.... Shearer did make his debut for England while a Saint, he scored against France I think.... For my question: Who was Lawrie McMenemy's last signing as Saints manager? Edited 15 June, 2013 by Colinjb
Chez Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Shilton Mills Dave Watson Wright Bridge Channon Steve Williams MLT Armstrong BT Wallace Flowers Alf Ramsey Keagan Paine Crouch

Colinjb Posted 15 June, 2013 Author Posted 15 June, 2013 Case? Very good! It was Jimmy Case. Your turn.
Chewy Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 Oh, and I was talking tosh about Alan ball, his England days were well behind him. Great stuff with alf Ramsey btw.
Badger Posted 15 June, 2013 Posted 15 June, 2013 I know that one David, is it Princess Anne ? (with apologies to younger posters)
