I've watched adverts for several of these and wondered just how sad your life has to be to play some of them. I've just seen one, can't remember the name, which featured various games including basketball, darts and throwing bean bags. There's also that one featuring Bagpuss Jnr. as the "casual athlete"

Is actually buying a dartboard, basketball or beanbag really that bad that you have to play by staring at a TV screne and waving two white sticks at it instead?

Rant over.

I'd get in trouble with the wife if I started throwing darts or basketballs around the living room.

I haven't seen a advert for any Wii game that doesn't involve something that's relatively straightforward to do in the real world. I'm sure there are games out there which don't fit that mould but the the ads always push the ones that do. Seems a touch pointless.

I guess it saves you the hassle of going out and purchasing a dart board, a basketball and a beanbag. I wouldn't want to have to carry home a beanbag. I would dislike waiting in for one to be delivered even more!

Not a game I have. I enjoy wii fit a lot. Mario kart too (sadly I will have to purchase a new copy of this now though). I found the sonic game awful, which surprised me.

Wii fit has skiing - MUCH cheaper and easier, mario kart, all the games such as super mario, my personal favourite of super monkey ball... I don't think it would be simple to find a monkey, put it in a giant hamster ball and make it roll round a maze picking up floating banannas.

But you could go indoor skiing in MK or Pontefract for less than the price of the game, same with go karting. As for Monkey Ball, it sounds a bit w*nk and I haven't seen any ads for it.

Only once, I can play on wii fit all I like now i've paid for it only once. I see your point with monkey ball, although I like it. I was just making the point that there are games of things you can so easily do in real life.

Serious point...

I have only driven in anger on the Brands Hatch circuit once in my life. I spent a day racing single seaters, not much bigger than go karts, and I happened to do very well, winning a couple of awards on the day.

Like I said, I did it once, several years ago now, but I remember everything about the day, even the stench of the toilets as I spent a good half hour 'bricking it' before the day got going.

It cost me a fraction less than a Wii console to compete for the day but, you're right, I only got to do it the one time for that money whereas I could play Mario Kart every day for a few quid more.

The thing is, I'm pretty sure you can't remember every minute of a game of Mario Kart in ten years time.

There is no substitute for the real thing, and the sad part is people are paying a lot of money to do things 'virtually' that they could easily have a go at in real life.

Oh, and don't even get me started on Guitar Hero.

I see your point but personally I wouldn't be at all bothered about driving round Brands Hatch. My partner races so I can always have a go in his on a track day if I was really bothered. I enjoy the social side of the wii, it's a nice thing to play on with mates, have a cheap night it. I also enjoy the fact that it's always there and doesn't have to be arranged blah blah hassle etc.

Maybe Nintendo could bring out a Wii game of a bad computer game, but do it really well on Wii. That way we could play a really bad game really well and the world would be a much better place.

I hate the concept of Wii. It's fundamental purpose seems to be for useless people at sport to be able to brag that they can now do a sport really well. It is utter rubbish and is yet another demotivation toy for kids today in stopping them going out climbing trees and burning peoples allotment sheds down like we did.

Funny you should say that, as although I am considered to be a Matt Le Tissier esk footballer (just waiting to be signed) I am totally she-hite at Golf, which was compounded by my 58 over par after 9 holes when i recently played.

However, I am better than Tiger himself on Wii Golf, my record being 8 under after 9 holes

Can someone tell me why ToysRus keep selling out of Wii fit please? I could buy the Grandkids one on E-bay, but they are selling for anything up to £150! WTF is this all about, why don't they just make more of them?

got hold of one yesterday. Sister in law was in toys-r-us just as they put them out. Good timing.

Because there are plenty of retards out there who genuinely believe waving your arms about in front of the TV for 20 minutes every now and then will get you fit.
