Arizona Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I've watched adverts for several of these and wondered just how sad your life has to be to play some of them. I've just seen one, can't remember the name, which featured various games including basketball, darts and throwing bean bags. There's also that one featuring Bagpuss Jnr. as the "casual athlete" Is actually buying a dartboard, basketball or beanbag really that bad that you have to play by staring at a TV screne and waving two white sticks at it instead? Rant over.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Wii's are amazing. FACT. Has anyone seen the new Rayman Rabbit game advert. The first computer game released to be controlled by your bum  (Using the wii fitness board) Looks quite funneh

Scummer Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Is actually buying a dartboard, basketball or beanbag really that bad that you have to play by staring at a TV screne and waving two white sticks at it instead? I'd get in trouble with the wife if I started throwing darts or basketballs around the living room.
Arizona Posted 4 December, 2008 Author Posted 4 December, 2008 I've no doubt Wiis and many of the games are amazing INS. It's just games like the ones I mentioned seem absolutely ridiculous.

ozzmeister Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I love the Wii, the only games I really play though are Mario Cart and Guitar Heros.
Ponty Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I haven't seen a advert for any Wii game that doesn't involve something that's relatively straightforward to do in the real world. I'm sure there are games out there which don't fit that mould but the the ads always push the ones that do. Seems a touch pointless.
Pip87 Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I guess it saves you the hassle of going out and purchasing a dart board, a basketball and a beanbag. I wouldn't want to have to carry home a beanbag. I would dislike waiting in for one to be delivered even more! Not a game I have. I enjoy wii fit a lot. Mario kart too (sadly I will have to purchase a new copy of this now though). I found the sonic game awful, which surprised me.
Dog Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I used to be into a bit of the old water sports myself. Are there any Wii porn games out yet?
scott_saints Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I had a Wii and played it once in 6 months. I'd much rather play on a console that doesn't make me look like a complete arse throwing my arms about all over the place etc.

Wii fit has skiing - MUCH cheaper and easier, mario kart, all the games such as super mario, my personal favourite of super monkey ball... I don't think it would be simple to find a monkey, put it in a giant hamster ball and make it roll round a maze picking up floating banannas.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Mario Kart and Wii Golf are my personal favourites. Managed a hole in one without the ball trickling in the other day. First time ever. I wanna get the Wii fit and the Rayman Rabbit thingy ma bob. Cant decide whether the Wii Music game looks genuis or gash?

Best way to play the wii is sat in a chair. Wii golf sat down and mario kart sat down. Easy!

But you could go indoor skiing in MK or Pontefract for less than the price of the game, same with go karting. As for Monkey Ball, it sounds a bit w*nk and I haven't seen any ads for it.

I see your point with monkey ball, although I like it. I was just making the point that there are games of things you can so easily do in real life.

I was just making the point that there are games of things you can so easily do in real life. Serious point... I have only driven in anger on the Brands Hatch circuit once in my life. I spent a day racing single seaters, not much bigger than go karts, and I happened to do very well, winning a couple of awards on the day. Like I said, I did it once, several years ago now, but I remember everything about the day, even the stench of the toilets as I spent a good half hour 'bricking it' before the day got going. It cost me a fraction less than a Wii console to compete for the day but, you're right, I only got to do it the one time for that money whereas I could play Mario Kart every day for a few quid more. The thing is, I'm pretty sure you can't remember every minute of a game of Mario Kart in ten years time. There is no substitute for the real thing, and the sad part is people are paying a lot of money to do things 'virtually' that they could easily have a go at in real life. Oh, and don't even get me started on Guitar Hero.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Oh, and don't even get me started on Guitar Hero. I know, addictive isn't it!
Pip87 Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I see your point but personally I wouldn't be at all bothered about driving round Brands Hatch. My partner races so I can always have a go in his on a track day if I was really bothered. I enjoy the social side of the wii, it's a nice thing to play on with mates, have a cheap night it. I also enjoy the fact that it's always there and doesn't have to be arranged blah blah hassle etc.
Ponty Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Whooooooosh Oh no, I got it, and it was quite clever tbf, but I took the opportunity to drive a point home.
Saint Martini Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Mark Cavendish got injured playing on his Wii and might miss the start of the season (cycling) now.
Scudamore Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Mark Cavendish got injured playing on his Wii and might miss the start of the season (cycling) now. That wii bowling plays havoc on the quads doesn't it?
JohnnyFartPants Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Maybe Nintendo could bring out a Wii game of a bad computer game, but do it really well on Wii. That way we could play a really bad game really well and the world would be a much better place. I hate the concept of Wii. It's fundamental purpose seems to be for useless people at sport to be able to brag that they can now do a sport really well. It is utter rubbish and is yet another demotivation toy for kids today in stopping them going out climbing trees and burning peoples allotment sheds down like we did.
bungle Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I have a Wii. I enjoy Tiger Woods golf on my wii. I also very much enjoy mariokart. However, there are not enough good games.
Hatch Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 My Mariokart internet thingy ranking score is about 4850.
bungle Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 My Mariokart internet thingy ranking score is about 4850. Mine has crept up over the 5000 mark. Therefore, I am better than you.
Michelle Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Mario Kart is still, IMO, the best game on the Wii. No other game that I've bought has yet provided as much entertainment as Mario Kart. In fact, I might just go and play it now. Toodle pip.

It's fundamental purpose seems to be for useless people at sport to be able to brag that they can now do a sport really well. Funny you should say that, as although I am considered to be a Matt Le Tissier esk footballer (just waiting to be signed) I am totally she-hite at Golf, which was compounded by my 58 over par after 9 holes when i recently played. However, I am better than Tiger himself on Wii Golf, my record being 8 under after 9 holes
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Oh, and my ranking is about 6,200. I rock. I currently hover around the 6500 mark having got it up to 7500 only to lose it again, playing two player with my mate, the combination of a smaller screen and being inebriated, meant I lost points quicker than the bank of england base rate!
Michelle Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Highest mine has ever been is around 6,600. I am about to go and improve on my 6,250.
Ponty Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 There is only one thing sadder than Wii and that's Wii online.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 There is only one thing sadder than Wii and that's Wii online. Come on, there is nothing better than kicking a Jap or Yanks ass online!

scaramanga Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 super mario galaxy has to be one of the best wii games.
CabbageFace Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 super mario galaxy has to be one of the best wii games. 3 nipples out of 2?
jawillwill Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 SWF MarioKart competition anyone? I'll thrash all of you! P.s. Why don't people who spend all day playing Fifa on the XBox go and buy a football?
Pip87 Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 P.s. Why don't people who spend all day playing Fifa on the XBox go and buy a football? Now that would be cheaper. You can use it again and again too.
Scudamore Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Now that would be cheaper. You can use it again and again too. Well that would depend on the quality of ball and any potential bramble bushes behind the goal...

Saint Martini Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Well that would depend on the quality of ball and any potential bramble bushes behind the goal... Or an angry neighour with a sharp device compaining about his rosegarden.:smt076
Michelle Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I will beat you all in a tournament. Bring it on.
hamster Posted 5 December, 2008 Posted 5 December, 2008 Can someone tell me why ToysRus keep selling out of Wii fit please? I could buy the Grandkids one on E-bay, but they are selling for anything up to £150! WTF is this all about, why don't they just make more of them?
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 5 December, 2008 Posted 5 December, 2008 The worst game on the Wii is that stupid ****ing Brazilian Samba game!

Because there are plenty of retards out there who genuinely believe waving your arms about in front of the TV for 20 minutes every now and then will get you fit.
hamster Posted 5 December, 2008 Posted 5 December, 2008 got hold of one yesterday. Sister in law was in toys-r-us just as they put them out. Good timing. I phoned the Southampton branch on Wednesday and was told that they had a delivery of 400 last week which had sold out by Saturday!
