Smirking_Saint Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 What exactly is the CC? How do these teams end up being involved? Its the winners of all the major tournaments... Great comp but probably why as an England fan its often brushed over
S-Clarke Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 What exactly is the CC? How do these teams end up being involved? It's basically all of the winners from all over the world, so the Euro 2012 winners, the 2010 world cup winners, the Asian cup winners, the Copa America winners etc. Basically like a mega-champions league.
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 What exactly is the CC? How do these teams end up being involved? They are the winners of the individual regional cups (European Champions, South American Champions, Asian Champions, Oceania etc) and the world cup hosts... it serves as a trial run for the world cup facilities. Basically an all star battle royale (including Tahiti), love it!
Batman Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 What exactly is the CC? How do these teams end up being involved? it the winners of the 6 confederation championships, like the Coppa America and the Euros. Plus the following year world cup hosts and the current world champions that is why italy are there as they came runners up to spain
Batman Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Do the USA often feature? dunno, mexico are the current champions for that region
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Do the USA often feature? They got to the final in the last tournament in 2009. Even led against Brazil before they rallied.
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 (edited) Ah thanks. How did Tahiti get this far?? They won the 2012 Oceania Nations Cup. Beat New Caledonia in the Final, first country other then New Zealand and Australia (who now compete in the Asian confederation instead) to do so. Oceania is by far the weakest of the 7 confederations. Edited 16 June, 2013 by Colinjb
saintmatt Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Amazing to see a saints player in the hole behind 2 of the best strikers in the world right now!

Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Amazing to see a saints player in the hole behind 2 of the best strikers in the world right now! 4 years ago, when this tournament was last taking place we were still in administration. The progress is crazy.
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Ah that's confusing, when it comes to world cup qualifying, aren't Australia etc in the same pot as Japan etc?? Yep. Japan qualified for the tournament by beating Australia in the 2011 Asian Cup final. Tadanari Lee scored the winner.
Jonnyboy Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Yep. Japan qualified for the tournament by beating Australia in the 2011 Asian Cup final. Tadanari Lee scored the winner. Very good. You seem to be an aspiring MLG this evening. You'd think theyd keep it simple and stick to the same groupings as the World Cup ffs.
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Very good. You seem to be an aspiring MLG this evening. Steady on now!!
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Spain controlling possession. Ramirez sitting in with the midfield trying to contain the Spaniards but looking to break forward and feed the strikers when given chance.
JackFrost Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 9 mins in and Spain have had 92% of the possession
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Fabregas has just clattered the post. 'Keeper was beaten.
Batman Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 When you look at the players not starting today, Spain are frightening
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Spain 1-0 Uruguay Lugano o.g. Deflected volley that Lugano turned into his own net.
Wrensup Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Spain do my head in, especially Ramos such a ******
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Soldado, Spain 2-0 Uruguay Just after Uruguay had a chance to equalise. Perreira played him onside from a through ball.
smackalec Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Feel quite lucky that I've got to see such a special team in my lifetime.
Crab Lungs Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 I do agree. Though it seems the Spain love-in has ended for many. For me, I love watching them, don't understand why people don't.
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Uruguay are trying here. Their passing is beginning to look a little more fluid. Lugano there... free on goal after a free kick and utterly miss-controls the ball and falls over.
Jonnyboy Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Steady on now!! I notice you are winning the Summer boredom quiz thread too. Careful, you'll get a reputation!
Turkish Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Uruguay are trying here. Their passing is beginning to look a little more fluid. Lugano there... free on goal after a free kick and utterly miss-controls the ball and falls over. If Wellbeck did that he'd be slaughtered for it.
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 I notice you are winning the Summer boredom quiz thread too. Careful, you'll get a reputation! It obviously needs a few more people giving it a go then.
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Spain really are going down like a bunch of cheap tarts here. They don't need to sink to that, so frustrating.
Smirking_Saint Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 I do agree. Though it seems the Spain love-in has ended for many. For me, I love watching them, don't understand why people don't. Their movement, pressing and passing is breathtaking
Colinjb Posted 16 June, 2013 Author Posted 16 June, 2013 Gaston Ramirez off, Alvaro Gonzales on at half time. A bit harsh on Gaston, he was starting to find his feet.
Saint Garrett Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 At least we can all go to bed now. Just need to see Justin Rose lift the trophy first!!
The9 Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 Just need to see Justin Rose lift the trophy first!! I have no idea what this is about.
Saint_clark Posted 16 June, 2013 Posted 16 June, 2013 If Wellbeck did that he'd be slaughtered for it. And rightly so. Why should we care whether a Uruguayan player f*cks up, however? I'm sure their fans weren't impressed.
JackFrost Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 I fear for Tahiti, Spain's next opponent. Judging by how Spain played last night that could be carnage. Tahiti are playing Nigeria tonight so we'll get an indication of where their at
Colinjb Posted 17 June, 2013 Author Posted 17 June, 2013 Judging by how Spain played last night that could be carnage. Tahiti are playing Nigeria tonight so we'll get an indication of where their at Well, if the national anthem is anything to go by, they look terrified!!!
badgerx16 Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 Judging by how Spain played last night that could be carnage. Tahiti are playing Nigeria tonight so we'll get an indication of where their at Why can't they do their Haka ?
Colinjb Posted 17 June, 2013 Author Posted 17 June, 2013 Nigeria 1-0 Tahiti Really cruel deflection. Tahiti actually started very brightly and then that happens.
Colinjb Posted 17 June, 2013 Author Posted 17 June, 2013 Nigeria 3-0 Tahiti. All total gifts, the keeper actually dropped the ball into the striker's path for the third.
JackFrost Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 3-0 at HT First goal was a ridiculous deflection off the ref that landed kindly to a Nigerian whose shot then took a ridiculous double deflection off 2 defenders and wrong footed the keeper. 2nd goal - defensive howler 3rd goal - goalkeeping howler Have to say going forward they've looked very good, they've carved the Nigerians open a few times and could have easily had a couple of goals. Defensively they've been naive but that Chong Hue looks a handful.
Colinjb Posted 17 June, 2013 Author Posted 17 June, 2013 All credit to Tahiti.... they are trying to give it a go!
