Another reason TalkSport is such b0ll0cks!!

Did anyone actually read the article? All the stats are from Bloomberg Sports, not TalkSport who only reported it. There are plenty of players from teams all through the PL (obviously more from the top teams as you'd expect).

Jay Rod the only Saints player (as an Attacking Mid), to save others a few clicks.

Not only that but the data is provided by Opta, so can't even blame Bloomberg.

If Saints fans don't bother to take part in the nomination process what do you expect. I remember Luke Shaw was nominated but even the lad himself ignored by tweet, preferring to play games online.

The stats are provided by Opta and here is Bloomberg's method for assessing who the best players are. Take issue with one or both of those, not the fact there's only one Saints player because that is only a result of the system. Nothing to do with Talksport whatsoever!

It is odd that Schneiderlin's not in there though, considering all the Opta analysis we've been presented with this season has ranked him very highly. Just goes to show that you can bend the figures in many different ways and that they may well have been interpreted to make him look better at some points, as well as worse.

Morgan not even in the top 10? Wtf?

No lambert, no cork no Shaw no Clyne....?

Surely one or two of these should be in the top 10? Especially Morgan given his stats this season, and Rickie having such a good season.

The only thing that amazes me about this is that you care so much - TalkSH*TE are as you say, utter b*llcks.

I disagree with all the adverse comments on here. Talk Sport has lost a lot of good presenters (Mike Dickin, Jon Gaunt, James Whale, Alan Collins) but Alan Brazil is still excellent and H & J are very good. As for Goldstein now he really is Bxxxxxxs!. Get him off !

Not everyone did, it would seem. I guess the urge to criticise a media outlet for not saying that more than 1 player of a team that finished 14th in the league are the top ten player in their position in that league was a little too much.

This. As usual.

Thanks for your email. That is a keen perception, and Schneiderlin was a very tough call on this list. Ultimately his propensity to foul and low aerial numbers worked against him, but you are right in that he had a very good season, and deserves some merit. After a moan to bloomberg sports this was the email I received (yes I did go moaning)

I believe that given Morgans season (and stats back that up) he deserves a mention. Especially when players like Sidwell, Sandro who played half a season, Delph, and Diame are on there.

Yeh I asked why he never made the list given his stats , unlike you I dont just sit on here moaning !

Fair play to you. Question asked (in OP), question answered. Everyone else in here was just giving their opinions, mostly nothing to do with the question asked.

Now we know that the stats were biased more towards aerial ability and tendency to foul that most other measures being used for midfielders (tackles / interceptions / passing). Debate away chaps...

If you read the BSports methodology they rank things on efficiency so something like pass completion will get a high rating. Morgan will have attempted a lot of tackles and interceptions in the season, someone else might have done less but been more successful.

it's a flawed system as people don't buy footballers on efficiency. It shows why for example Andy Carroll has got in the top 10 strikers, he wins a huge amount of headers. Does it make him a good player? no, not really but statistically he will be very efficient at winning headers so gets a high rating. yet the rating has him at virtually the same level as Michu last year. Anyone who actually watches football would know who they would want in their team out of those two. It also has Torres in the top 10 which says it all really.

There are other threads if you are not interested in this one.

It's a perfectly valid question. Why are people up in arms about what has been reported on a radio station that has been hilariously nicknames on here 'talks*it' If you're unable to answe questions on your opinion then I suggest this isn't the mboard for you.

dont think anyone are up in arms. Just stating that talksport is a load of shyte. which is hardly a wild statement

How is Russell Martin of Norwich better than Clyne and Steve Sidwell a better holding midfielder than Morgan? Lol also at J Rod making the list as an attacking central midfielder (played equal amount of games as left attacking midfield and then CF from what I could see).

Really bad tables those. Lol

I actually quite like talk sport, I just don't take it as serious as some of you obviously do

Same. They talk about football pretty much all day (or on the way to and from work when I listen). Where else can I get that fix?

Don't read the Sun however, never driven a white van, don't watch TOWIE. Sorry Turks to spoil your wild fantasies. I look forward to the day you no longer post on here (not much specifically with this thread, just a general observation on your incessant childish ramblings and sarcastic postings)

There is an ignore button if you're so delicate that you can't handle my posts. Being someone of white van man intellect though I'm not surprised.

I don't listen to TS in the week day mornings and daytime so I can't comment on that, but I find the evening and weekend output to be fine. If you are after football chat and Five Live is covering something else then TS is fine, Danny Kelly is good. I would rather listen to TS on a 3 o'clock on Sat (I would rather be at the game) than Five Live; I prefer them constantly going round the grounds than 5L who have a live commentry and report on Saints goals 5/10 minutes out of date.
