whelk Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Who do you think is our most intelligent or sophisticated player in current squad? Do we have any 'thinkers'? I follow a few on Twitter and most seem your stereotypical footballer who doesn't have much to say about anything other than Nandos or Fifa13. I suppose I could always ask Luke Shaw when he does his Twitter Q and A.
BristolSaint Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 There was a time when we had the "most intelligent" team in the top flight as both Iain Dowie and Barry Horne were playing for saints had they both had degrees.
ozzmeister Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Morgan seemed quite switched on in his interview recently.
hypochondriac Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 I interviewed kelvin once. Came across as an intelligent bloke
Toon Saint Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Morgan reads Dostoevsky and Albert Camus, while JWP has interests in Fauvism and fine-art restoration.
Alain Perrin Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Jose I reckon Yes, he's the fonte of all knowledge.... Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express
Mowgli Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Onj the pitch, Morgan. Off the pitch, probably JWP. Guly is probably close in an enigmatic way...
sydneysaint17 Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Shaw would be very much bottom of the pile on that one. Morgan, JWP and Kelvin have always seemed fairly intelligent to me but although an ex Saint, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has always come across very well in interviews - especially considering his age.
dinger Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Morgan reads Dostoevsky and Albert Camus, while JWP has interests in Fauvism and fine-art restoration. Is any of this true? I want it to be true.
JPTCount Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 academic snobbery qualifications do not equal intelligence, just as drawing skills do not define creativeness Morgan reads Dostoevsky and Albert Camus, while JWP has interests in Fauvism and fine-art restoration. “Everything I know about morality and the obligations of men, I owe it to football.”
Toon Saint Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 academic snobbery qualifications do not equal intelligence, just as drawing skills do not define creativeness “Everything I know about morality and the obligations of men, I owe it to football.” Don't think I mentioned anything about qualifications equaling intelligence, chap. I'm pretty sure it doesn't require a degree to read Dostoevsky or any classic literature. Reeks of inverse-snobbery your end.
hypochondriac Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Degrees do not equal intelligence but then if you have a degree (assuming it is a proper one) it is clear that you will have a certain level of intelligence to be able to pass.
Toon Saint Posted 12 June, 2013 Posted 12 June, 2013 Degrees do not equal intelligence but then if you have a degree (assuming it is a proper one) it is clear that you will have a certain level of intelligence to be able to pass. Aye, agreed. The ultimate benchmark of intelligence, of course, is being able to recite poetry off-the-cuff in press conferences.
Colbury Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 I interviewed kelvin once I bet he was bored sh*tless.
supersonic Posted 14 June, 2013 Posted 14 June, 2013 Yoshida always comes across as pretty intelligent
OfnPanad Posted 17 June, 2013 Posted 17 June, 2013 Jos is extremely articulate especially considering he's speaking his second language. Also a top bloke. Fraser has been released now which has raised the average IQ of the team about 10 points I reckon. Luke Shaw is an amazing prospect as a footballer... Luckily... His interviews remind me of the Brendan Fraser basketball player character in 'Bedazzled'.
david in sweden Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Who do you think is our most intelligent or sophisticated player in current squad? Do we have any 'thinkers'? I follow a few on Twitter and most seem your stereotypical footballer who doesn't have much to say about anything other than Nandos or Fifa13. I suppose I could always ask Luke Shaw when he does his Twitter Q and A. if you want to ask the question from an academic standpoint - Does any of them have GCSE's? ...(I dare not suggest a University Degree)....or do you mean " football savvy" .. Do they always know which way we are kicking? NEXT - define "sophisticated" please? Do you mean ..tattoos and earrings?...or someone who knows how to knot his tie correctly ...and doesn't turn up to the Saints party in trainers and with his shirt tail hanging out?
ericb Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Well it used to be Forecast, anyone who can paid the amount of money he did not to do his job is a fu.cking genius if you ask me
david in sweden Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Yoshida always comes across as pretty intelligent ......and he likes apple pie !
