CB Fry Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Le Tiss on twitter suggesting it is Arse away too, or at least saying that's what he heard. Way back when I "worked in the media" (hello local daily in Gloucester) we would get the fixtures the day before, the embargo just prevented publication, it didn't prevent the sports dept and the likes of me eyeballing them. Were I on SWF back then, they'd have been straight on. These days will be slightly different but not a surprise if some opening/key fixtures squeak out before the deadline.

Media only get them an hour before these days, pretty open as to who can get them at that point, websites etc, think it costs £100.
Appy Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Can confirm SSN don't get them until about 2 hours before the announcement tomorrow.
Saint Garrett Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Arsenal fans seem pretty sure it's us at home. Not sure how that works. Wouldn't be an awful fixture, we'll sell out, not too expensive, and a decent away game. Plus we owe them one for the shambles last year.
LGTL Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Was the worst away game of last season so will be good to get it out the way. Souless place. Quite how they'd allocate for it I don't know!
Saint Garrett Posted 18 June, 2013 Posted 18 June, 2013 Hopefully they'd allocate it on last seasons 'points'.

Must be able to base any allocation on last season's away ticket purchases surely? Agree, utterly s**t away at the Emirates, didn't enjoy it all, regardless of the score.

Agree it would sell out but it wouldn't surprise me to see it classed as a higher category game for the Arse this time. First day fixture, we'll be a stronger side and the fact we sold out in hours last year could see tickets at £50/£60, similar to City away last August. That could may make 1 or 2 think twice.
alpine_saint Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Hasnt it been confirmed to be Arsenal ? I think the fixture list is a set-up. All the big 6 get an easy early run to provide as tight (and entertaining) top-of-the-table as possible, and to allow the CL teams to come up to speed for that competition. Remember our first 10 games last season ? Expect something similar next season. Anyone remeber Wengers whine in a press conference about 10-odd years ago ? David Seaman came on and said it was cobblers.
trousers Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Arsenal is wrong! Can you list all the other predictions that are wrong too? Thanks @SteveGrant1983: Some interesting and some annoying fixtures for #saintsfc next season. Go to @SaintsWeb at 9am for the full list.

Thanks @SteveGrant1983: Some interesting and some annoying fixtures for #saintsfc next season. Go to @SaintsWeb at 9am for the full list. Well Alpine is well off in his general predictions above. Don't think we'll have too much to complain about with these.
trousers Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Everton have a "long trip" for their opening game apparently...make of that what you will...

Add the cryptic clue from Saints Paul Watts and I reckon thats right. Albion being the highest ground in England, snow on high lying ground etc etc

Saint Garrett Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Our Christmas fixtures are absolutely Can only imagine Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Utd are all in there somewhere...?

Saint Garrett Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Got to pick up points early. Got some very winnable first games. Finish home to Man Utd.
Minty Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 This geezer was right then That geezer is probably going to have some questions to answer...
100%Red&White Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 What happened the last time we had Man U home last day in the Premier League? Payback time, do you think we could send them down?
trousers Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Got to pick up points early. Got some very winnable first games. Finish home to Man Utd. Aka: the title decider...
Bananaman Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Got to pick up points early. Got some very winnable first games. Finish home to Man Utd. The though of a finish at home to man utd makes me feel sick
Sour Mash Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 The though of a finish at home to man utd makes me feel sick Why?
Hatch Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 12 points minimum form first 4 games Done the BBC predictor and we will celebrate the title in early March and finish with a record 122 points.
lifeintheslowlane Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Last game at home to clinch our CL place.
forever a red and white Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 December and January looks a bit sticky doesn't it!
Saint Garrett Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 (edited) 12 points minimum form first 4 games Done the BBC predictor and we will celebrate the title in early March and finish with a record 122 points. No reason why we can't be top after 4 games tbf.... Makes a big difference to last year playing Man City, Man Utd, Wigan, Everton, Villa and Arsenal in our first 6 games to playing WBA, Norwich, Sunderland, WHU, Liverpool and Palace. The only one which doesn't look winnable out of those is Liverpool away. You could really go with we've got an easy start until mid November... Edited 19 June, 2013 by Saint Garrett
beatlesaint Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 The home games through until the start of December look very very winnable !
Sour Mash Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Are you for real ? How are your predictions shaping up?
Hatch Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Man United could possible only get 3 points from their first 5 matches.
pingwing Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 Really happy with that, best of all Cardiff away on boxing day is the one day I wanted that fixture, no public transport means I have no incentive at all to go... (saving money at a key time). Norwich away in August will be a blast! I know a cracking owl sanctuary for that day out...
Saint_Tony Posted 19 June, 2013 Posted 19 June, 2013 It's a much better spread of fixtures than last season, first 7 games are all very winnable. Could be vital in setting us up for the rest of the season to avoid the panic of last season Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
