BIG NEWS FOR CARDIFF CITY FANS!

WE ARE AT HOME TO TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR IN THE 1ST GAME OF THE SEASON AS A PREMIER LEAGUE CLUB.

AS FOOTBALL DATA CO CAN NO LONGER STOP PEOPLE FROM PRINTING THE LIST, I CAN EXCLUSIVELY REVEAL THE 1ST 6 FIXTURES:

(H) TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

(A) SOUTHAMPTON

(H) ASTON VILLA

(A) MANCHESTER UNITED

(H) HULL CITY

(A) FULHAM

If Football Data can no longer stop people printing the list then the 1st six fixtures can't be exclusively revealed can it. And why not reveal the whole list if it's been printed out. As you say, more than likely a load...

Might indicate we are away on the first day.... assuming there is some truth to it.

And the list I printed is obviously bull**** as the Football League have announced 6 anniversary fixtures to be played on the opening day and guess what, NONE of them tie in with the 'leak'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22894378

Football League opening day fixtures

Championship: Burnley v Bolton, Derby v Blackburn

League One: Preston v Wolves, Sheffield United v Notts County

League Two: Rochdale v Hartlepool, Newport v Accrington

Still hope we do get Chelsea though!

Here's an apparent fixture leak. Has us down as CHELSEA AT HOME. Ties in with Cardiff v Spurs first game but can't see us having back to back home games?

We won't be at Home to Chelsea and then at home to Cardiff, so I wouldn't believe this 'leak' at all

Maybe not be able to prevent people revealing the fixture list, but the fact that the fixture list doesn't yet exist is a pretty bit obstacle.

The list is signed off the day before its public release. It is a long consultation process which involves talking to the clubs and other parties (police/councils etc) since the end of March. So Saints will already have seen their fixtures as they would have to inform the list compilers of any potential issues and changes that need to be made.

Us, Bompey and The Skates all at home?

Most unlikely.

This bit might be slightly interesting:

Last season, for example, there was a requirement from the Metropolitan Police not to play high-profile matches until after 8 September because of the Olympics and Paralympics.

I assume by this they mean the likes of Man Utd and Man City would have been prevented playing in London in the opening few weeks of the season....so, could this one off "obstacle" in computing the fixtures have contributed, in part, to us getting 3 of the top 4 teams in our opening games, and thus we can blame our poor start, in part, on the Olympics...? It must have increased the chances of us (and other lower profile non-London teams) drawing the higher profile teams early on.... Excuse me while I think out loud, won't you....

Are we saying that Pompey, Saints & Bournemouth are all at home on the opening day?

Can't see the police OK'ing that.

Well firstly I Don't fancy a Big team first at home/away again like last season for the 2nd time in a row

tbh even though we gave it a good go at Man City so I wouldn't mind a nice Easy start with something

like Fulham/Cardiff/Norwich at home/away will do me but we'l see how kind the computer list is to us

this coming season!

COYR!!! :D

I reckon we will get Norwich or Stoke or Sunderland at home. We will lose and to some, that would mean the season is over, the summer was wasted, MP is clueless and the new signings are crap

SimonPeach: #SaintsFC kicking off their season at #AFC, according to @REDactionAFC. Easy three points then.

REDactionAFC: Opening fixture of the new season will be HOME to SOUTHAMPTON

Does it really matter that much? We've got to play everyone at some point and we're miles better than when we played there last season.

of course it matters. momentum is massive.

look at the shambles last season with the horrendous start we had

So do we want to start by playing Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool?

Or West Brom, West Ham and Sunderland?

Which ones will give us the most momentum?

(Or is it really not that important)

Get a good start and you're under less pressure as the season goes on. Look at West Ham and West Brom as the perfect examples. Both had blinding starts and despite both having pretty big wobbles towards the early end of the season, they were both still well clear of any danger because of the head start they gained.

We however were always playing catch up last season after our first 10 games. The stats prove after those 10 that our points ratios etc were of a top 10 team so if we had the same start as the previously mentioned teams, we would've been right up there.

The first 6 - 8 fixtures are more important than people think.
