tpbury Posted 9 June, 2013 Posted 9 June, 2013 Announced he had terminal cancer a couple of months ago and is now dead. I always sought out his new books and would have liked to have met him because his writing made him seem such an insightful and humane bloke.
LVSaint Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 RIP. Remember reading the Wasp Factory years ago, couldn't put it down.
Ken Tone Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 An excellent author -- unusual in working in 2 genres under almost the same name, one as Iain Banks and one as Iain M. Banks. I recommend his books to everyone. His death at only 59 has robbed us of many more that he would have written. I read 'Surface Detail' only a few weeks ago -- what an extraordinary imagination!
SNOWY Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 So talented. Wasp Factory is an incredible book. RIP Iain.
Ziggy Posted 10 June, 2013 Posted 10 June, 2013 I read Wasp Factory one year when on a week's skiing holiday. A brilliant and memorable book. RIP.
