Why does gaston only ever play 70 minutes I here you say?

Hear******** sorry!

Well, today I spoke to my uncle I don't see very often at a family gathering. He said to me that he's heard a rumour that the reason gaston doesn't play a full game is because he has an underling heart condision that wasn't picked up in his medical and was discovered later on.

Now I know that there isn't a whole lot of substance to that, but my uncle was director of finance at manchester united and general bigwig so he may know someone who knows someone, if you know what I mean haha

Just passing what I heard on, make of it what you will :) ahah

Gaston played 75+ minutes 12 times this year......... 16 times last year.......and that´s only stats from league games, not national team games where he though is more or less 12th player and coming on as the first sub more than starting so far...

Almost certainly. A Spuds boy I see.

It seems too random to make up and therefore rings potentially true to me.

How'd you get spuds from that? :s haha

How does having a heart problem mean you can only be top athlete for 70mins? I would have thought they would not l

et him play at all after the scare at tottenham?

Might be an idea to ask a mod to delete the thread if you're worried about revealing your source. It wasn't exactly rocket science to work it out from your OP.

Dont think its libellous, but nonetheless probably a good idea for Wrensup, his uncle and Gaston. Ive deleted my posts maybe you could too.

Yep, already done. Self modding rules OK :)

I only suggested it's dodgy ground because obviously a claim like this could affect the player's reputation and future career, and equally as the claim is medically based it would be very easy to prove or disprove in court. And let's face it, he's going to know about it if it IS true, so...

Unless he's genuinely unsettled and worried he's not starting, I can't see any reason why we'd want to sell him now. Next year's a World Cup year and he'll be busting a gut to be involved in the first team every game by the time the spring comes around so he's starting for Uruguay - assuming they qualify of course.

It is often easy to put 2 + 2 together and make 5.

However a month or two back a mate of mine was due for a visit to the Spire in Tremona Rd for a consultation with a Cardiology Specialist.

His appointment was bumped as the Consultant had to see a Saints player at short notice.

We speculated at the time who this could be and thought perhaps Adam Lallana who had a heart related matter as a youngster.

Perhaps it could have been Ramirez, then again it could have been part of routine checks after the problems with the Bolton player

'We're considering putting a bid in for this Ramirez fella'

'I wouldn't be so sure. Have you seen what's been on SaintsWeb lately?'

I'm pretty sure this is libellous.

I'm pretty sure it's bull****.

If you've got an underlying heart condition you don't play for 5 minutes, let alone 75 minutes. You get it fixed or you retire.

Anything I said about Spire in Tremona Road would most certainly be libellous, so I'll stfu.

No way would his transfer to us would have been passed through all the medicals and insurance processes if that was known to be true. Bo***ks!

He has a Clause In his contract that he only has to play a maximum of 70 minutes. FACT

I believe Ramirez has the same agent as Guly and for next season the agent is negoyiating to tie it into a 70/20 clause for the pair of them. SFC are obviously tied in to Gaston's 70 minute clause, nothing they can do to change that, but from what my ITK sources tell me they're not keen on extending the terms of Guly's current 15 minute clause.

Presumably the Bolton player Patrice Muamba, would have had to pass a thorough medical and given the all clear (and there have been other professional footballers and athletes who have suffered significant heart related problems not picked up by health checks)

There are some players, such as Asa Hartford who played for Man City at the top level for many years with a hole in the heart, which required regular screening

To be fair he might have a point. If there is one thing you could expect the director of finance at Man United to know its the health condition of a Uruguayan midfielder who had previous played in Italy that no one else, not even the clubs doctors picked up on.

My thoughts exactly. Sometimes I wonder why they bother hiring Doctors, just hire a team of finance directors and never worry about medical diagnosis again.

Aren't the medicals done at the local hospitals in liaison with the club doctor?

think they do them up at the Uni med school annexe up Chilworth /Baddesley way. Doc's son used to post us all the salient facts but guess he's been gagged now.

it's true! Apparently the Glazers are negotiating a large loan for Moyes next season with a famous Cardiologist!

If we are looking to buy another Uruguyan surely we wouldnt be keen to ship an exisitng young one out on the basis he doesnt like living here or hasn't settled in! Wouldn't be very clever would it?

Especially when he says he does.
