New badge / branding?

It struck me looking at the footballshirtculture site how many clubs seems to be changing their badge/ branding - many going for a simpler, more corporate style logo.

Ours was designed by a fan in the early 70's as a competition I believe and is rather detailed. Can't be long before Cortese decides to give us a corporate makeover surely?

Would you be in favour? And if so, what to go for? Perhaps back to our previous badge with the Hampshire rose, but modernised? A simpler version of what we have now? Something new, more corporate??

Clubs alter their badges all the time, every club in England has made numerous changes over the years.

Just two examples of badge changes this summer.

Bolton Wanderers badge from 2002 to 2013...

I quite like the new Crystal Palace badge this summer compared to the one it replaces. Shows it is possible to keep many of the key elements of old badges and modernise them. Same could be done with...

The Palace eagle badges are from the 1970's when Malcom Allison arrived as manager in 1973 and totally rebranded the club. He changed the shirt colours to red and blue stripes and introduced the Eagles nickname. The Saints badge is also a relic of the 1970's and could do with some modern styling.

I would be interested to see how that could be modernised?

An artistic styling of an Eagle will always allow more versatility then a pre-determined shape and five instantly recognisable items (The Ball, Halo, Tree, Hampshire rose and Solent 'ripples.')

May have a play myself.

I'd like to see 1885 somewhere on the badge.

Just sketched a few ideas. To be honest, I don't think the exiting badge can be beaten. May update the font and re-style the badge's boarders/key features... But otherwise I think it's essentially perfect.

I had assumed that the crest, as shown on the Adidas thing on Twitter, was out official new crest. i.e. no longer in colour but instead in gold on a black background.

I too had made this assumption. I also quite like the subtle change.

Here was the 'best' I came up with incidentally.

I would be very surprised if the monochrome badge lasts longer than a season.
