Saints boy in Leeds Posted 3 June, 2013 Posted 3 June, 2013 Everything seems to of gone quiet on possible transfers, in or out. Just wondering if anyone's got any thoughts on when and who ?
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 3 June, 2013 Posted 3 June, 2013 Hopefully soon, it is around the time that deals start to get moving now seasons across Europe have finished. Btw, Jay Rod was our first signing last summer, and although we expected it to happen, officially went through on June 10th. Hopefully something will happen in the next week.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 3 June, 2013 Posted 3 June, 2013 Astori will sign by the weekend. For Milan.
SNSUN Posted 3 June, 2013 Posted 3 June, 2013 joan verdu Someone's having a giggle on Wikipedia and edited to say he's signed for Olympiakos. Would be a good signing though from what I've heard - and free. Not too old either - the Jimmy Case of the modern era. http://www.ftbpro.com/posts/joel.amorim/209459/joan-verd%C3%BA-is-on-southampton-s-shortlist First signing guess - Figueroa. Strengthen up that left back slot.
SaintBobby Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Best guess: Astori by June 15th. Qualifier#1: Is he in the Italy squad for the Confed Cup? Qualifier#2: The answer to the OP's question has more than a million possible answers, I reckon mine has a 100/1, or tighter, chance of being right though. Which is pretty good!
BristolSaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Everything seems to of gone quiet on possible transfers, in or out. Just wondering if anyone's got any thoughts on when and who ? Luke Shaw on the day of his 18th Birthday. So no signings till July.
old_southy Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Best guess: Astori by June 15th. Qualifier#1: Is he in the Italy squad for the Confed Cup? Italy: Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Federico Marchetti (Lazio), Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint-Germain). Defenders: Ignazio Abate (AC Milan), Davide Astori (Cagliari), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Mattia De Sciglio (AC Milan), Christian Maggio (Napoli). Midfielders: Alberto Aquilani (Fiorentina), Antonio Candreva (Lazio), Alessio Cerci (Torino), Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Emanuele Giaccherini (Juventus), Claudio Marchisio (Juventus), Riccardo Montolivo (AC Milan), Andrea Pirlo (Juventus). Forwards: Mario Balotelli (AC Milan), Stephan El Shaarawy (AC Milan), Alessandro Diamanti (Bologna), Alberto Gilardino (Bologna), Sebastian Giovinco (Juventus).
eurosaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Nic will delay any incoming transfers for as long as he can ! This is not a strategic business move, it is purely intended to rile Alpine_Saint who is no doubt itching for a re-run of his predictable "we've left it too late, we are doomed !" postings ! At least we will know that the new season is about to start when his apoplexy really sets in !!
ericb Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 In a shock turn of events just before the close of the transfer window Barcelona will sign Ian Branfoot as a surprise manager and he'll offload Neymar and Messi to us in exchange for Guly and De Ridder, commenting to irate Barcelona fans that De Ridder will score more goals this season than the pair of them put together. We will then realise the error of our ways about Morgan and release him on a free to free up a squad place for Paul Wooton who will arrive back in southampton on an open top bus ride as a hero to the 5,000,000 fans waiting to fill the new Red Bull Solent All Stars stadium. At this point the FA will declare that the premier league is ours and since we don't need to play to win it we will instead spend the season building our global brand around the world like the Harlem Globe trotters. This in turn will lead to Southampton Solent All Stars franchises being set up in every country we set foot in. Matt Le God will spontaneously combust with excitement after claiming that we are about to build a Mega Stadium in a purpose built island in the Atlantic that will house half the worlds population. You heard it here first.
DuncanRG Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Italy: Defenders: Ignazio Abate (AC Milan), Davide Astori (Cagliari), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Mattia De Sciglio (AC Milan), Christian Maggio (Napoli). I think that tells you all you need to know about the quality this guy has, he's in world-class company there.
alpine_saint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Certainly seems the target of having everything tied up by July 1st was utter b*ll*cks.
Spudders Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Certainly seems the target of having everything tied up by July 1st was utter b*ll*cks. Yes I agree, there is no way anything could happen in the next 24 days.
Window Cleaner Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Certainly seems the target of having everything tied up by July 1st was utter b*ll*cks. perhaps we need the ST cash first.
The9 Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 perhaps we need the ST cash first. Yeah, that Prem prize money is all going to pay off the billion pound BVI loan the Skates say we've got and are unaware of. You know, the one stated as being £3.1m in the last accounts.
Saint Lindford Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Certainly seems the target of having everything tied up by July 1st was utter b*ll*cks. Oh FFS, I wish someone would tie you up. Maybe stop you posting drivel all the time. What is to stop everything being tied up by July 1st? IF we are targeting any players who are in action at the Confederations Cup then the final of that competition is on June 30th. Sure that any players involved in the final can fly into the UK the next day JULY 1st and sign on the dotted line. Neymar managed to play for Brazil against England and then appear in Monaco the very next day.
jjsaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Double swoop. And on a free. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22687567 Europe here we come!!!!
Marsdinho Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 "Astori is set to report for duty with the Azzurri at the Confederations Cup later this month and would prefer his future to be cleared up before the start of the tournament in 11 days' time" http://www.clubcall.com/southampton/cagliari-defender-auction-to-kick-off-1596684.html So, maybe one deal will be done in the next 11 days....?
alpine_saint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Who had fourth of June in the sweepstake? Whats your problem now, troll ? I do not see our transfer activity being wrapped up in 4 weeks consideing the level of activity that there appears to be currently. I dont consider it to be an outrageous statement. Maybe the 1st July deadline was just another pressure tactic agains Katharina Liebherr.

I was under the impression that a troll was someone provoking an opinion out of the majority by making unfounded statements. Guess where the majority is on this subject ? Clue : it isn't sh111tting ourselves that we haven't signed anyone by July 1st until it's actually July 2nd, because, you know, a lot can happen in 4 weeks.
JN9 Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Andreas Weimann 18th June unveiled along with the new kit... you heard it here first..!

alpine_saint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Andreas Weimann 18th June unveiled along with the new kit... you heard it here first..! Highly rated over here in Austria.

You know, the one stated as being £3.1m in the last accounts. not that there was in fact much prize money, about 6 million ? ST sales will bring in over 12 milion £.
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 4 June, 2013 Author Posted 4 June, 2013 Certainly seems the target of having everything tied up by July 1st was utter b*ll*cks. I guess there's still at leat 3 weeks before then.
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 4 June, 2013 Author Posted 4 June, 2013 Here you go.... http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/10461969._/ I guess that's thread closed then.
JN9 Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Highly rated over here in Austria. I watch Aston Villa a fair bit (for reasons not very interesting...), and I think he is a very good player... Not that I genuinely think we will sign him, or that we're even considering it but if it was up to me I'd be having a look. Having said that I'd be a lot happier, if say, Rooney signed...
david in sweden Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Double swoop. And on a free. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22687567 Europe here we come!!!! surely these two come into that " special category " that Di Canio referred to ...and he wants to see the back of them ASAP ....
Matthew Le God Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Here you go.... http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/10461969._/ Not sure that really counts.
Appy Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Bloody hope not! Astori a week thursday for me. Why? Would be an excellent signing.
Batman Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Bloody hope not! Astori a week thursday for me. weimann is a class player
The9 Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 not that there was in fact much prize money, about 6 million ? ST sales will bring in over 12 milion £. Yeah but that's just the finishing position money, there's the tv facility fee as well.
pingwing Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Why? Would be an excellent signing. He made some huge misses last season, is a long way from the finished article and realistically isn't quite the striker/attacking midfielder that will fit into the free flowing front 3/4/5 we tend to play. We need a striker that can compete with Lambert when Weimann is more in the Billy Sharp mould...
DuncanRG Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Billy Sharp? I'd have counted him as one of the three who will move centrally to shoot when possible ala Rodriguez

The9 Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 I'm not really sure what point is being made about Weimann or Sharp here to be honest. Weimann's a Villa youth product (or at least he was in their academy system before he made the first team, dunno at what age they signed him), is he holding them up for more cash or out of contract, because I can't see him leaving otherwise, especially if Benteke goes.

Can't compare Weimann and Sharp certainly, Weimann is fast, runs from deep, Sharp is just a goal hanger.
