Some interesting names on that list:

John Cofie (Very Green Mile....)

Thierry Racon, Linked with us back in the League 1 days

Scott Arfield, Missed a sitter that would have made it 0-2 against Huddersfield... we went on to win 4-1.

Jerome Thomas

Stephen O'Halloran (Remember him?)

Ricardo Fuller

Brian Howard

Mathieu Mansett, Saw him play a few times for Hereford, simply couldn't understand why Reading bought him.

Neal Trotman

Charlie Sheringham, not following in his father's footsteps.

Darren Purse

Jody Morris

Luis Boa Morte

Mido

Darius Vassell

strange, Butterfield is on their list but i couldn't see any of the other Saints players that will be out of contract soon.

We might have offered them short term contracts matching their existing deals.

You could probably build a half decent chsmpionship team out of that lot

Now Noel Hunt, Nicky Shorey/Ian Harte, Jay Tabb, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Titus Bramble, Matt Kilgallon, Dave Jones, Simon Church, Carlton Cole, Jerome Thomas, Mark Gower, Simeon Jackson, Stephen McPhail, Stephen Hunt, Keith Fahey, Steve Simonsen... there's half a Championship team in that lot.

Add Gonzalo Jara to that list.

I mean this in a respectful way (honestly) - you eitherhave a lot of time on your hands, or are a totally football fanatic – which areboth good in my books BTW :-)

No offence taken. :) I don't have as much time as I used to... but i'm certainly something of a fanatic.

At least 1 will end up at Pompey.

I don't think they can afford any of them any more. They've already released worse.

Most will probably be on the skates books before the start of the season.

I think we had 'signed' Jay Tabb at one point too?

Not Tabb, another lad at Coventry though... a centre back who had a brother at Wolves... can't remember his name though.....

I see Vicente has left Brighton, god their fans milked that for all it was worth.

Did you see his massive parting shot at Poyet ? Hilarious.

Also I wouldn't mind Chris McCann from Burnley from that list. Decent CM, can play LB and LM too. Big ball winner.

If we were in the NPC, I'd agree. But he would add absolutely nothing to us, we'd basically be signing a worse option than Cork/Morgan and Davis. Not saying he's a bad player, but he's not at the level we're aspiring to be at.

If we're losing Chaplow though, McCann would be a decent squad player. Agree that he's not better than what we already have though.

Hey now that's not true, just the worst one he'd met, there could be loads of worse people he's not met yet. :D

We should introduce him to Tommy Forecast, Vicente would be singing Poyet's praises within a few minutes ;)

Give the man his due! I certainly would not have done the search, and appreciate that someone did and posted the result for a lazy bum like me J Interesting info BTW.

Signing players like this limit the chances of our own youngsters from progressing to the first team by getting game time. If he were already with us, we'd be talking about him being released this summer. No thanks. I know he was talking about when we were in the nPC - Simon Church likewise, but really no thanks.

McCann is a championship player, if we are looking at him with Cortese's ambitious plans i will be worried.
