I'm probably being stupid.. But could this be a possible clue to our new sponsor?

@JFBLucas: Back in England. Missed much?

@TomCoull: @JFBLucas We've announced the Adidas thing, but the Coco Pops thing hasn't been announced yet.

So that says Kellogg's to me! Do they do sponsorship? :S

Obviously kelloggs, not just coco pops ;) would the guy who does all the news things, really put quite an obvious clue on twitter. P

They put it on there so they can laugh when would-be detectives post it on football forums, probably.

Pop's the monkey on the shirt would be amazing!

Agree. Please can someone do a mock up of all the suggested kits so far, with coco pops monkey on the front, ta

Amazing, I would live in that shirt! Could even extend the brand to all the other coco pops friends and enemies on different players shirts, Boruc could have the crocodile!

I'm still not sure why you lot think aap would just give up their sponsorship deal...

They could get bought out of it. Particularly if it wasn't for that great an amount in the first place (which is likely given we achieved 2 promotions in 2 years). Other football clubs have done it in the past, so its not exactly as unprecedented as you seem to think.

As a successful banker with many billionaire contacts, now we are fully established as a Premer league club, I'd expect our chairman to bat off the small time organisations and secure a deal with a company fitting with our image and reputation as we dine at soccerball a top table.

I believe it was around £1m per season in the premier league.

a friends wife works for Checkatrade (based in dorset) and they were in talks with the club post sash kit. the price she told me (cant think of any reason for her to lie/make it up) was a deal worth £300k per season in the championship with that rising to around £1m per season if/when the premier league was reached with a get out option should they not wish to pay that in the premier league.

they decided not to go for it and ended up sponsoring a cowboy builder programme on channel 5 as that would reach their potential customer base and give them more value for money

maybe there is a 'get out' option for either side with AAP3 again this summer.?

who knows

Yes, I remember that lad who doesn't post here any more, thedelldays, mentioning checkatrade a while back, the very last post on this thread.

Could coco pops be code for coca cola

Coco - coca

Pops - cola

No. Coco pops are little brown cereals that you put in milk, milk is white and comes from cows, cows like in a field and provide meats like beef and steak, steak goes well with chips and you can also get chips at chip shops, take aways and Macdonalds, McDonald's is a fast food outlet with a global presence, other companies with huge global presences include Nike, Microsoft and Exon Mobil, who are the biggest company in the world and have a site in Southampton at fawley and have just signed a new sponsorship deal with the local football club. red Bull saints.

Oh for heaven's sake, just admit it's you and get it over with, you're turning yourself into more and more of a laughing stock at the moment. if you just come clean people will get over it pretty quickly. Jamie, EVERYBODY knows.

How pleasing to have inadvertantly been part of the outing of Bret/James.

I just don't get it personally. If I owned aap I'd be very happy at the fact that I'd sponsored a team on the cheap and they were now being seen by millions of people worldwide.

So they're just gonna give up that sweet deal for a few quid? Doesn't make sense to me at all.

It is only a sweet deal if you can afford it! It could be the best option for both parties to end sponsorship deal early.

Would be a bit f::cking stupid to sign up to a deal you know you can't afford no? I'll be amazed if they're not our sponsors this season. Perhaps not as exotic a brand as some on here would obviously like but that's just tough t:ts.

Even more stupid not to take an exit option if it exists! Especially if the exit option compensates you rather well.

Bin joke has been done :(

aap means monkey in Dutch, doesn't it ? Spooky. :shakey:

So for the dutch it looks like we have been sponsored by a cubed monkey?

Jesus Christ. Do you think clubs will pay the same amount to sponsor a L1 one club as a Premier League one?

Pretty sure Nintendo and Swatch watches have bases in Southampton/Eastleigh? Can't one of those sponsor us?

I worked for both of them, neither are based here anymore.

Nintendo was in Boyatt Wood but the Germans centralised the European Operations and made us all redundant.

Swatch was based in Eastleigh (opposite the train station) but hasn't operated there for a good few years. Omega, who had the last clock in St Mary's, were part of the Swatch Group.

Trust me on this I would know, Kellogg's shall not be sponsoring any team, the only ones I think they do are in Battle Creek seriously, no where else.

it could take some time if we go through a list of all the companies who WONT be sponsors next season ;)

I happen to know Kellogg's wont be sponsoring Southampton next year, as for Nestle I would say I'm 99.99999% sure. Most companies of repute are based in Switzerland and in a smaller capacity Ireland purely for tax reasons, that's changing soon so an awful lot of companies are ****ting themselves as their tax affairs may have to be wedged open soon (Amazon, Starbucks), trust me on this they are ****ting themselves but thats another Bazza story for another time.

Was it actually Nintendo ? I thought it was Bandai's Distribution centre. Could be both of course.

Bandai, then THE Games who I worked for. THE did all the marketing, distribution etc for Nintendo exclusively in the UK and were owned by John Menzies until the Germans pulled the Nintendo operation from the UK even though we were their most profitable subsidiary. Not that I'm still bitter.
