Hmm the plot thickens.... Tom do u know who it is? If so give us a clue

No, sorry I don't, except that drinks brands are not in the running. And neither does my source. He's a former employee.

Does anyone know when it's out? It really annoys me that they wait until July most years. During the winter months I only wear it on match days. It would get most of its outings in the summer meaning that I spend half the summer only able to wear the previous seasons shirt.

Call me sad but I like sporting the new kit on my hols having people coming up to me commenting on the new shirt.

Cortese out.

Cheers for the insights Tom. Any idea whether the new sponsor will be a relatively unknown company, like aap3, or is it more likely to be at the well known global brand end of the scale? Cheers :)

What about Cardiff's latest kit...

...looks like he's taken a pair of shorts out of the ****ing lucky dip bin in the school changing rooms.

**** kit, what do you expect from Puma though. Given the rivalty between the 2 Dassler brothers at one time you'd think they could do better than that really. Never forget those 1 piece combination kits that they made for the Cameroon national side, think it was for an ACON about 20 years back.

adidas are a well know kit manufacturer and thats great but I just hope we get a decent kit design this year. This seasons kit took some getting used too. I didn't mind it in the end but it would be great to have a more fan pleasing design this year. I know from what I've read on here that I should expect another bland mostly red shirt again. I just hope it's not going to be as bad as some are making out.

Just for the record, Adidas do not 'manufacture' anything !

They are a sports 'brand' which buys from a few hundred manufacturers, mainly in Asia !

They design, develop and market many different products but do not actually own any factories !

I realise that I am being pedantic but (having been in the business for many years!) there is a big difference !

Yes, yes they would. That black with gold panel pretty much confirms what we've been discussing on the Pointless Kit Thread for months.

It appears the home kit will be plain red with some white under the arms, the away black with gold in a similar design (and probably using the monochrome gold badge design on the away kit). Let's just say I like the sound of the away kit.

I don't think it confirms anything. All the literature released at the end of last season had a silver badge, but our kit had nothing of the sort.

Think most of us regulars of the 'pointless early 2013/14 kit speculation thread' already knew it would be Adidas, but it's nice to have it confirmed now.

Personally I'm pleased, some may not be happy but we could do alot worse than Adidas in my opinion.

I will laugh my arse off if our shirts are sold in the Adidas outlet store in P*mpey hahahahaha

I'm happy with Adidas if they keep it simple and classy. Unfortunately they do have past history of having panels in odd places, odd shiny bits (see Chelsea last season) and tints to make it look like even fat footballers have a six pack (apologies if I've mis-remembered this).

I'm not as hung up on the one colour vs stripes issue myself. Would be nice if Cortese could actually clarify the situation with the lack of stripes though. At least Cardiff got a warning. Yeah I know, good luck with that.

As a noted Cardiff City hater, I am LMAO right now. That is truly awful, the two shades of red and white don't go well at all.

Yes, but that was already known to be corporate branding and came along after we already knew what the kit was going to look like last year, this apparently random use of the gold badge has started from the end of the last season, is in line with the rumours already doing the rounds and has also appeared on the adidas ads when there would be no reason not to use the normal Saints badge otherwise.

Ok Thanks for pointing that out. I stand corrected :)

Most classy looking suppliers. Very happy.

Makes not the blindest bit of difference to me if they keep producing non-striped shirts.

Wouldn't mind a red/white one of these for Saints though :

Presumably it will just be this, but with some fanning about with black trim on the collar or something (see what I did there...?).

Am hoping for stripes on the back too - hate those plain backed shirts - but doubt we'll get it. Frankly after last season's monstrosity I'll be happy with anything that resembles our traditional livery.

Pretty sure the plain back thing is a Premier League ruling - something to do with making the numbers out on TV (clearly nonsense, of course). I am sure MLG/The9 will confirm within seconds.

Seems that I am in a minority, as I really couldn't give two hoots who provides the clothes for the players.

I don't care either who supplies our clothing either. Its just another name but then again I have never been a fashion victim .

Why not? Plenty of folk from Southampton shop in Gunwharf Quay. My car resplendent with Saints badge has been OK down there these last 10 years, which rather suggests that few down there give a stuff about all this rivalry crap that seems to turn people like you on.

I do love this board.

My first thoughts were -

"yes, adidas, my brand of choice, probably still now, as it was when I was a kid" (donthelookcuteinhisadidatracksuit)

"Hmmm, Hummel style strips across a plain red? Why not, whatever, its adidas"

And

"Look at the terrible rendering of that graphic, someone's slipped on the 'save for web or devices' slider there." (Although I do quite like the blocks of black - tres moderne.)

Come on here, and read the exact same thing from you lot. Nice.

Yes that is sad if you are over 14.

So everyone that buys the shirt is sad then. Surely, with the exception of catering for sad people they should only sell sizes youth and under then.

I wear my shirt on match days, maybe for a day or so after getting one and maybe for one day when I'm on my hols. What a miserable b@stard I must be.

Why do people care so much about which brand makes the kit? The players wear it, they play football. They can do the same in any manufacturer.

Tsk. Then why spend so much on the design and manufacturing? Why not just let them kick about in Cotton Traders polo shirts?

This is sports science of the highest order my friend.

Champions wear Nike or Adidas because it makes them better at what they do.

You should feel the same!

Pretty sure it won't be stripes, and that's a cheapo teamwear kit anyway. At the very least we're getting a half decent proper pro club template with a bit more customisation than just sticking the club badge on something.

Only just seen that, it's not a Prem rule, it's a UEFA rule for UEFA competitions. Sunderland have worn striped backs for the last 2 seasons and so have Stoke.

I'm not really interested in the brand either, just the design. Mildly perturbed that there's not going to be much mystery about it other than whether we'll have an unpopular red kit or a popular striped one (not this season), as the adidas templates are usually out there and well known as soon as the MLS teams launch their shirts in February/March.

Rivalries are an integral part of football my friend.

I just think it'd be genuinely hilarious to imagine a skate going into the Adidas store in Gunwharf having a casual look around and that BAM! Saints shirt on the rack and him becoming irate at this prospect.

Is it genuinely OK to go to P*mpey with a Saints sticker on your car?! I've always removed mine whenever I go down to Gunwharf for a spot of shopping (admittedly only a handful of times in the last 10 years) for fear of getting the car window broken, the car bricked as I drive through the city, or getting abuse off inbred skates whilst driving through the city and having to resist the urge to run them over.

Who knows, he did tell me he had not seen it.

He obviously has contacts through business but like everything on this forum - needs to be taken with a pinch of salt unless fact or beyond doubt.

I have learned that on here over the years.... Even if you hear it from the horses mouth.

When I went to Southsea I came back to the car to find a PFC engraved in the bonnet...so maybe they do!
