Playing Crystal Palace Next Season

His job is to be professional and to manage a football team, not to get all worked up over a bit of banter between two sets of fans. To me he comes across as incredibly bitter and frankly unprofessional. I know part of his image is that whole "straight talking" thing, but I don't think you'd get too many other managers saying the same thing - not ones with a decent sense of humour and the ability to laugh at themselves anyway...

You seem to be getting incredibly worked up about it some three years later.

Great, we now have their soppy little Ultras group in the premier league.

With Holloway I'm sure it started with us when he was manager of Leicester and we won 2-1 there and Surman scored a penalty. Or it might have been 1-0 actually. But I seem to remember him being a nob after that game.

My god we have a real element amongst our fan base now don't we.

Anyway well said Kraken nothing wrong with Holloway he's a character and football needs more of them. He stands up for the teams he manages and I respect that. If you can't take it don't give it out, if he was our manager we would absolutely love him.

Anyway three perfectly decent clubs joining the Premiership next year. They've all been on a similar journey to Saints so welcome and as Rut says if you think they are all going straight down then you are a mug who doesn't learn the lessons of history.

They'll be amongst the relegation crew that's for certain but lets face facts so will Saints unless the club can genuinely step up. One thing that's guaranteed is that all three will fight like terriers to stay in the league and will be no pushovers.

At least one of them will take points out of Saints... guaranteed.

And we get to have a night out in Cardiff again... great memories.

Good away day with the Waetherspoons even if the ground is awful with subterranean dark places that pass as toilets. Another opportunity to show our warmth and affection to loudmouth Holloway and wish him well in the Premier League.

In what possible way can an away day be good because of a Wetherspoons of all pubs?

How pathetic are some of our fans. Still getting worked up about a man getting worked up 3 years ago

I really hope not but our end of season form didn't inspire confidence. If MP can buy some decent defenders then I think we could be looking at 'one of those seasons'. I am old enough to remember the last.

That's a big if because every other club wants the same. Second season in the prem is notoriously difficult.

Lets face facts last year everyone had Saints as certain to go down. I think next year won't be dissimilar.

Less pathetic than a grown man pretending not to be himself on an internet forum he's signed up to again after being banned.

No, not everyone had Saints certain to go down at the start of the season. It is very likely that Crystal Palace and possibly the other two promoted teams spend the majority of next season in and around the bottom three. I expect Palace to go down. Edited by Sour Mash

Don't think TDD was actually banned. More of a request after reading his final posts (have been accused of being him a few times)

And the owners of this site have to personally verify an ISP email address

So, I'm sure if I was TDD and portending not to be whilst banned. They would know

No one has the same IP address for life. Not sure why you are even bothering to pretend. At least others who have done the same have made some effort to disguise who they once were. It's so blatently obvious, it's dumb that you keep trying to convince others otherwise.

I'm not really getting worked up over Holloway's comments, I find it hilarious how precious he gets whenever he's on the receiving end of a bit of stick. Just trying to make the point that I think he's an utter bellend is all.

Btw Holloway is not a character, he's a complete f*ckwit. To quote (verbatum) Sean Lock on the subject...

"If anyone ever says to you: "you have to meet my mate, he's a real character", my advice would be don't get your hopes up. The extent of his "character" will be sticking his c*ck in your pint when you go to the toilet."

I must have missed the offensive part of what he said there, if I'm honest. Holloway is a bit of a goon, but I can't see much wrong in what he said there. Apart from if you're massively precious, of course.

I'm not offended, I said he was a plank. "Premier League you're 'avin' a laugh!" is in chapter 1A of football chants and yet it clearly rattled him a bit.

much prefer a trip to Selhurst than Vicarage Road so glad the Eagles won. Like all teams coming up they will be regarded as fodder, but they will have a shed load of cash to play with so will be far from it come August.

OK then lets see how this claim holds up.

TDD a very prolific saintsweb poster stops posting at the end of February and does not actually give any reasons why.

Batman an equally prolific poster starts posting about a month later using a similar style.

This new poster Batman seems to know an awful lot about the previous history of this forum (he knows who MLG is for instance and gets as annoyed at him as TDD used to) and racks up 595 posts in a month.

The new poster Batman is supposedly from Camden, coincidentally where there happens to be a naval base. Thedelldays famously works on naval bases and also travels around a lot so is likely to have different IPs.

The new poster Batman expresses political views that are strikingly similar to thedelldays and posts in very similar topics to the aforementioned poster.

The new poster Batman talked about boycotts immediately after one of my posts when the only other person I had had extensive conversations about that topic with was Jamie AKA thedelldays.

Now either this is all a coincidence and this mysterious new poster has appeared and read an extensive amount of delldays posts in order to copy his style or it is actually delldays pretending (and failing) to be someone else. Hmmmm.

Care to address the other points? Odd also do you not think that TDD was not banned and just happened to be last week as you ramped up your posting?

Going by the last post. TDD stopped ages ago. And guessing by this thread only very recently banned.

Anyway has nothing to do with crystal palace

So the answer is no you don't wish to answer the other point Jamie. TDD stopped posting about a month ago and was banned a few days ago.

I've been quite impressed with Holloway's approach to the playoff games and surprised that he played as defensively to stifle the opposition compared to the swashbuckling attacking with reckless abandon associated with his time at Blackpool.

That said given the amount of airtime he'll now get as a Premier League Manager he will be highly irritating as he most definitely likes the sound of his own voice.

Well, if you're not Delldays then I for one am ****ing glad. You obviously wouldn't have met him but the guy (gay?) was a total tool. I would have gladly given him a slap in real life but he was a cowardly sod who wouldn't put his money where his mouth is. You would have found him a right pain in the arse I'm sure Jamie ... I mean Batman.

with the £75m available they will be able to buy the players they need to make them competitive (ie far from fodder), just as long as they buy the right ones.

They're spending it on the ground...maybe...And following Saints' example apparently.

"Crystal Palace: Selhurst Park set for a 40,000 makeover - Football - Sport - London Evening Standard

Crystal Palace will step up plans to redevelop *Selhurst Park into a 40,000-seater stadium after winning *promotion to the Premier League."

Hilarious. PMSL. How thick can you get? There is a canal in Camden but I cannot see one of TDD's nuclear subs sailing down that.

TDD is definitely not Batman. Batman talks much more sense than TDD and he hasn't yet got anywhere up Turkish's arse.

Anybody remember a particularly ill-tempered Saints v Palace match at the Dell in the late 70s?

A warm sunny day but that was not reflected in Palace's mood. Palace tried to cripple the Saints team with scything fouls from the kick off.

When Palace emerged after half time it was to the sound of 20000 chanting "animals! Animals! Animals!"

Their fans were barely more cordial - a coach full broke down just off the Avenue and I remember looking on horrified but at the same time fascinated, as a long haired, flared jeaned, Palace thug with the then de rigeur scarf tied around his wrist, proceeded to kick and dent the door of a white escort van shouting and foaming at the mouth to the driver "are you Saarfampton?"

Quite an education for a ten year old lad from the leafy villages of Hants.

So you think that pointing out that a suburb of London is not the site of a nava base makes me a cretin??

You really have some problems don't you?? And I am not just referring to your laughble ignorance of geography.

Have a look at yourself, mate. Why are you so obsessed by this?

Back to Palace - good to see them back in the prem, always enjoy a trip to selhurst. Am I right in thinking they've been immediately relegated after their last 4 promotions to the top flight??

The thing with Holloway, for me, is that he thinks he's got banter. If you go giving it out, you've got to be able to take some, and he can't.

That said, I'm glad it's Palace rather than Watford. Always had good times at Selhurst and Watford's loan army getting promoted would've been all wrong IMO.

I'm chuffed Palace made it up! Living in their back yard and having pals supporting them has given me a soft spot for them so I join the wellwishers on this thread. I took the ball & chain up to Palace on Sunday for a ruby and the place was buzzing with Wembley returnees. Next season? Bring it on.

As for Holloway, yeah he's a bit of a plank but definitely a likeable one. The game needs characters as opposed to more boring Wenger style managers and I'm wondering what odds I can get on him making another viral "in the taxi" tyoe comment at some point next season!

I hope they stay up. :smug:

They won't. :uhoh:
