Weston Saint Posted 28 May, 2013 Share Posted 28 May, 2013 Was the 91m inclusive of all current playing staff wages as well as budget for purchases? If so that isn't much at all.Yes it was for everything hence Cortese having a hissy fit. No one seems to know the final figure agreed upon. I was only reporting on the figure first put forward by the owners not the final figure.

Professor Posted 28 May, 2013 Author Share Posted 28 May, 2013 Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao is expected to move to Monaco for a French record fee of £51.3m. Unfortunately, that is the sort of money that the Champion's League sides splash about and much as I wish it were otherwise, I will find it hard to believe our ambitions are likely to be realised unless we look at players who are far more expensive than anything we have imagined in the past. So if we sign a superstar on a five-year contract for £50m and £3m a year wages, is that £53m or £13m out of next year's £91m budget?

Monaco is a case apart, the owner knows nothing about football and has recruited an agent to do his recruiting. Some Portuguese oufit I think; They'e probably got 200 million to spend and they're not wasting it on has beens or might be's. Hardly any tax in Monaco for foreign residents so their salarial mass will be far less than that of other European clubs. So they can buy Falcao for 51 million and pay him 10 million a year for 3 years and it will cost them 81 million in total. If he went to PSG the same salary would cost them nigh on double or more because he'd want that as net income and the club would get saddled with the outrageous tax and social charges payable on that sum. 81 million from Monaco is probably equivalent to about 50 million elsewhere because the governments have to have their share .
