SaintBobby Posted 28 May, 2013 Posted 28 May, 2013 Can you amend the poll to include Rank Xerox/Ajax reversed/whatever you want to call it?
Batman Posted 28 May, 2013 Posted 28 May, 2013 I think the Pony tick kit is awful, but at least it makes an effort at stripes, unlike this and (apparently) next year's. You would rather have that pony kit than the current one? You really are precious about your kits!! It's just a football top. It will be red. It will have bits of white on it. It will change a year or two after It would be quite dull if we had red and white stripes every single season as there is so much you can tweak the design. That pony kit is probably one of our worst ever

Batman Posted 28 May, 2013 Posted 28 May, 2013 The Pony one was sh it but about a gazillion times better than our current abomination. I don't agree. So there we go
CB Fry Posted 28 May, 2013 Posted 28 May, 2013 I don't agree. So there we go I remember you saying so this time last year, TDD.
Batman Posted 28 May, 2013 Posted 28 May, 2013 I remember you saying so this time last year, TDD. I am not TDD You do seem bitter towards the club though
hypochondriac Posted 28 May, 2013 Posted 28 May, 2013 I am not TDD You do seem bitter towards the club though Give it up Jamie it's not even worth pretending.
The9 Posted 28 May, 2013 Author Posted 28 May, 2013 You would rather have that pony kit than the current one? You really are precious about your kits!! It's just a football top. It will be red. It will have bits of white on it. It will change a year or two after It would be quite dull if we had red and white stripes every single season as there is so much you can tweak the design. That pony kit is probably one of our worst ever It's almost certainly one of the worst striped efforts, but at least it's stripes. FWIW it will definitely change one year after not two, all adidas kit deals change all shirts every season nowadays, plus the sponsorship deal runs out at the end of 2013/14 as well. It wouldn't be dull if we had red and white stripes every single season, there is an infinite amount of tweaking, adidas change all their templates annually anyway, and it didn't seem to be a problem from 1989-2010 when we changed purely striped shirt styles eleven times without suffering from kits looking too similar (and in the couple of years before that we had the arguably striped Denmark-style hummel too).
The9 Posted 29 May, 2013 Author Posted 29 May, 2013 Anyone who hasn't voted yet ? I see the adidas "all in" announcement has used plain red with 3 white stripes...
SaintRobbie Posted 29 May, 2013 Posted 29 May, 2013 S ave O ur S tripes! (Please!) Good voting result - the people have spoken.
Marsdinho Posted 29 May, 2013 Posted 29 May, 2013 Surprised we haven't had more votes on this, even the "don't cares" have an option ! If they didn't care, why would they vote?
St Steve Posted 29 May, 2013 Posted 29 May, 2013 Has to be stripes, anything else just is not Southampton. Wrong. Rank Xerox/Air Florida hummel kits all the way.
St Steve Posted 29 May, 2013 Posted 29 May, 2013 What is it with the stripe brigade, bloody hate the kits we have had in the last 20 years that had stripes in them. I would be interested to know the age brackets of the stripe loving fans.
The9 Posted 29 May, 2013 Author Posted 29 May, 2013 Wrong. Rank Xerox/Air Florida hummel kits all the way. All of which were also striped.
Colinjb Posted 29 May, 2013 Posted 29 May, 2013 What is it with the stripe brigade, bloody hate the kits we have had in the last 20 years that had stripes in them. I would be interested to know the age brackets of the stripe loving fans. Interesting. I'm 29.
The9 Posted 29 May, 2013 Author Posted 29 May, 2013 If they didn't care, why would they vote? Because they feel it is important that their lack of strong feeling on the matter is taken into consideration. And at the moment they're 4% ahead of "plain colour".
The9 Posted 29 May, 2013 Author Posted 29 May, 2013 Interesting. I'm 29. 40, love the stripes, didn't support Saints until first moving to Southampton in 1991 though. Also love the Patrick Rank Xerox, and both the Denmark Hummel and the hummel regular stripe. Dislike the plain red Patrick kit with the shoulder flashes, which until the sash was the only non-striped Saints kit for about 100 years. Absolutely detest the current home kit.
aintforever Posted 29 May, 2013 Posted 29 May, 2013 Wrong. Rank Xerox/Air Florida hummel kits all the way. Both of which had f*ck off big red and white STRIPES.
SW11_Saint Posted 29 May, 2013 Posted 29 May, 2013 We are Southampton. There is only one answer. Liked the sash kit though and would like something like that for the away kit.
CB Fry Posted 29 May, 2013 Posted 29 May, 2013 What is it with the stripe brigade, bloody hate the kits we have had in the last 20 years that had stripes in them. I would be interested to know the age brackets of the stripe loving fans. So you liked the sash and this seasons kit. And you hated all the other kits. Hated. All of them. Fair enough. "Stripe loving fans". LOL. It is our actual, you know, kit.
SaffaSaint Posted 31 May, 2013 Posted 31 May, 2013 This seasons kit was the best for many years for me and would like to see something similar
theyin Posted 1 June, 2013 Posted 1 June, 2013 This seasons kit was the best for many years for me and would like to see something similar dear oh dear:? Stripes for me, the lesser the better IYKWIM;) 80's kid
lloydie Posted 1 June, 2013 Posted 1 June, 2013 Don't care, liked this years kit to be fair. Long as we dont end up with the same kit as stoke or sunderland im happy. (Same manufacturer, etc. chances are they'll chuck a template the same as them at us)
The9 Posted 4 June, 2013 Author Posted 4 June, 2013 So, the results are in for June 2013, after one season of a plain red kit : Stripes 64% Sash 14% Don't Mind 13% Plain colour 10% So it looks like our rumoured next kit will be the least popular choice, again. We can but hope for stripes. Note the quirky rounding error to 101%, pedants.
sotonian Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 When was the last time a team in stripes won the top English league? I don't think it's happened in my life time and I'm quite old!!
The9 Posted 5 June, 2013 Author Posted 5 June, 2013 When was the last time a team in stripes won the top English league? I don't think it's happened in my life time and I'm quite old!! Liverpool in 1984/5 ish if you believe the pinstripe apologists on here.
stmusicdude Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Liverpool in 1984/5 ish if you believe the pinstripe apologists on here. 1936 i think
The9 Posted 5 June, 2013 Author Posted 5 June, 2013 1936 i think Yup, I can't find one more recent than Sunderland either. Though for those making the obvious mental jump here, can I suggest we also move the club to the North West of England, which has produced nearly 30 times as many title winners as the South East.
The9 Posted 21 June, 2013 Author Posted 21 June, 2013 This is worth a bump now we've got sight of the twitter "leak of what is believed to be the 2013/14 kit : Though you can discuss it here if you like : http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?41881-Pointless-Early-2013-14-Kit-Speculation-Thread/page41#.UcRNCDv_mSq The point being that if the poll is any indication, it's only supported by 9.66% of fans, which is fewer than even the "don't mind"s.
The9 Posted 21 June, 2013 Author Posted 21 June, 2013 Looks like it should be a Liverpool shirt... You can't quite see the predominantly white sleeves...
stevegrant Posted 21 June, 2013 Posted 21 June, 2013 You can't quite see the predominantly white sleeves... It's more Latvia 2004/Trinidad & Tobago 2006, IMO.
The9 Posted 21 June, 2013 Author Posted 21 June, 2013 It's more Latvia 2004/Trinidad & Tobago 2006, IMO. I'm quite pleased, as the owner of a Latvia 2004 shirt. It IS about the only thing around this shirt that I'm pleased about though.
Badger Posted 21 June, 2013 Posted 21 June, 2013 You can't quite see the predominantly white sleeves... to make it an Arsenal shirt !
Colinjb Posted 27 June, 2013 Posted 27 June, 2013 I think this is my first post on here today... You havn't missed much.
oldskoolsi Posted 27 June, 2013 Posted 27 June, 2013 One question. If some people are saying it must be borigg having stripes every year, how must Man U, Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham fans feel having to only have one colour? The argument that we need to change to something completely different is moronic.

Colinjb Posted 27 June, 2013 Posted 27 June, 2013 man united had some sort of red quaters, didnt they? Had an odd V for a time but essentially unbroken in red since the 1930's. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Manchester_United/Manchester_United.htm
