The9 Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 (edited) I know there are a few kit threads around already, but I think there should be a definitive poll indicating whether Saints fans (the ones on here anyway), feel Saints should wear red and white stripes, plain shirts (that could be red as last season, or white), the sash kit which was so popular previously, or if they're not really bothered what kit the team wears. Mods, any chance of a poll with the question "In home matches, should Saints wear : * Stripes * Mainly one colour * Sash * Don't mind" Could be a useful pointer for opinion when the new shirts are launched. You may note that I'm trying to be as neutral as possible here so as not to skew results. A week should be long enough to get a decent cross-section ? Edited 26 May, 2013 by The9
saintmatt Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Sash. + 1, a nod to our history and differentiates us a bit.
The9 Posted 26 May, 2013 Author Posted 26 May, 2013 (edited) Edited to add sash to the list. Edited 26 May, 2013 by The9
Wiggles31 Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 I know they would never go for the sash but that was one of my favourite kits. So distinctive and unique to other teams.
EBS1980 Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Sash for me. Nobody else has it so would make us stand out and recognised
The9 Posted 26 May, 2013 Author Posted 26 May, 2013 Well, so far all we've proven is that people want what they can't have.
kpturner Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Is there a "don't care" option? Can tell on my ipad.
Saint_Ash Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Like the sash and unlike many others I really like the current home shirt, stripes are our most used shirt in times past but I don't see why we have to always have stripes, I prefer us to be unique whether it's with stripes or not.
rshephard3 Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Sash great as a one off tribute to our heritage, anniversary shirts etc. But year in year out stripes for me.
St Chalet Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 I really don't mind. Grew up in an era of Rank Xerox, centenary shirt and the Hummell shirt so I don't have such an affinity to stripes. The sash was great as a one off, and shouldn't / won't be repeated. If you want a nod to history how about quarters of red and white?
Ohio Saint Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Stripes or sash for me. I hope we are going to be a force next season, and would love to attach some honour to the stripey teams. Sash is good also for historic reasons and identity.
Saints foreva Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Stripes. Sash was good for a one off, this season shirt is terrible, probably only sold the amount it did because of a return to the Premier League.
doggface Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 I like to mix it up as we have over the years. I certainly don't want to be Allred forever.
SNSUN Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 I have to say I liked the Sash - my favourite kit. That said I reckon it'll be between stripes and how it is currently - and stripes (or two-tone like the Air Florida kit) wins that vote, not that I have any major problems with the current shirt, it's just I grew up with Saints wearing stripes.
stardustonmyfeet Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 We looked boss in the sash and no other team wears anything like it. Bring it back, I say
Saint Martini Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 + 1, a nod to our history and differentiates us a bit. This is exactly what I thought when I voted sash. We've played in stripes almost every season since I started following Saints but that doesn't mean that you have to continue with it just because. We have several different designs that can make us stand out more and that also have a historic connection with the club. I'd like the club to go out and have the sash for a few seasons, so that that design becomes the one people identify us with.
aintforever Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Has to be stripes, anything else just is not Southampton.
bpsaint Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 I actually liked this seasons shirt, but then I like it when we mix the kits up a bit so it's not just a variation of stripes every time we change. 2 of my favourite shirts are the centenary one and the 99-01 home kit which barely counts as stripes either
Manuel Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Didn't like the sash, looked dull and dated. Indifferent about the all-red. Would like to see us in stripes again next season and hoping for a Sunderland and Stoke relegation.
Aardvark Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 This - I can't believe the number of people on here raving about that vile sash.
SNSUN Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 If we do go back to stripes, I like the idea of mixing it up a bit. A bit like: but not as ghey. (Although that is one of my favourite home strips since being a Saints fan...)
Badger Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Rank Xerox please. Yes. But voted stripes in this poll.
Colinjb Posted 26 May, 2013 Posted 26 May, 2013 Stripes, or at least proportional amounts of Red/White with black shorts and red/white socks.
niceandfriendly Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 I'd love to see a predominantly one-colour sash kit with stripes.
alpine_saint Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 I know there are a few kit threads around already, but I think there should be a definitive poll indicating whether Saints fans (the ones on here anyway), feel Saints should wear red and white stripes, plain shirts (that could be red as last season, or white), the sash kit which was so popular previously, or if they're not really bothered what kit the team wears. You may note that I'm trying to be as neutral as possible here so as not to skew results. A week should be long enough to get a decent cross-section ? I take it that you already know again, and this is some weird exercise in taking-the-p*ss. FWIW i am bored with stripes and want a Rank Xerox kit
rooney Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 Lets keep some of our tradition and history and have stripes. The club will be changing our crest next.
Dr Who? Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 I think one year stripes, then one year with a different shirt. Even better if they had the shirt for 2 seasons like they used to! No going back on this one now!
alpine_saint Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 Stoke and Sunderland are still with us. I want my club to stand apart from that sh*t. No stripes.
OnTheCross Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 Rank Xerox - but only when we're going for that Champions League spot in it, in a couple of seasons. Wouldn't want my childhood memories tarnished Beyond that, it can get mixed up a bit, just as the club have done in the past. I'm not a huge fan of just the stripes though.
Under Weststand Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 I loved the sash kit but the favourite was the 1977/78 promotion kit. So some form of stripes for me.
paulwantsapint Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 Voted stripes But would like to see a quarters shirt Sash needs to be kept for special seasons
Batman Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 If we do go back to stripes, I like the idea of mixing it up a bit. A bit like: but not as ghey. (Although that is one of my favourite home strips since being a Saints fan...) that kit is absolutely horrific. The worst example of stripes you can get
Restark19 Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 Definitely Rank Xerox, also go back to Yellow away. I know we only wore the white one twice this season but just get rid of it altogether and have Yellow/Blue as our official away kit.
Steeleye Saint Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 Rank Xerox reversed with a wide red stripe in the centre please.
Badger Posted 27 May, 2013 Posted 27 May, 2013 Rank Xerox reversed with a wide red stripe in the centre please. But that strip though would just be a copy of the Ajax strip. Although it would still be infinitely preferable to this season's effort.
The9 Posted 28 May, 2013 Author Posted 28 May, 2013 Surprised we haven't had more votes on this, even the "don't cares" have an option !
Hamilton Saint Posted 28 May, 2013 Posted 28 May, 2013 that kit is absolutely horrific. The worst example of stripes you can get Agreed. Total abomination.
The9 Posted 28 May, 2013 Author Posted 28 May, 2013 I think the Pony tick kit is awful, but at least it makes an effort at stripes, unlike this and (apparently) next year's.
