Baldbarbarian Posted 24 May, 2013 Share Posted 24 May, 2013 I am really looking forward to this. I think Froch will edge it on points, there is a fire inside him for revenge in this one, a lot are saying Kessler is on the slide but he is still a very clever dangerous fighter. I fancy Chilemba to beat Bellew too, Tony is nowhere near world class.
Turkish Posted 24 May, 2013 Share Posted 24 May, 2013 (edited) Me too. I fancy Froch to stop him later on, about the 10th. Don't think Kessler is as good as last time they met, whilst Froch is and he's got a chin made of granite. Edited 24 May, 2013 by Turkish
Baldbarbarian Posted 24 May, 2013 Author Share Posted 24 May, 2013 A late stoppage could well happen if it is anything like the first fight! I heard a radio interview with Froch yesterday he was getting wound up that George Groves and Nathan Cleverly have been calling him out. Froch done the same with Calzaghe for years, doesnt like it now the boot is on the other foot.
Turkish Posted 24 May, 2013 Share Posted 24 May, 2013 I like Froch but Calzaghe was the best fighter this country has produced for years, if ever.
Baldbarbarian Posted 24 May, 2013 Author Share Posted 24 May, 2013 Yep totally agree with that. Calzaghe could box, fight on the inside, had good hand speed, could take a shot. I would have loved to have seen him in with Steve Collins but sadly that was not to be.
Turkish Posted 24 May, 2013 Share Posted 24 May, 2013 His demolition of lacy was the best performance I've ever seen from a British fighter, no one gave him a chance and he destroyed him. He was so quick and strong. People will say he only beat the like of Jones and Hopkins when they were past their best but end of the day to be world champion for 10 years and retire unbeaten in an incredible achievement. Baldbarbarian Posted 25 May, 2013 Author Share Posted 25 May, 2013 His performance v Eubank was very good too. Eubank was an absolute warrior and felt there was no way that Calzaghe could beat him, he also had an Iron chin and Joe managed to put him down in the 1st and pretty much shut him out for the whole fight. Calzaghe would have beaten Froch.
saint_jas Posted 25 May, 2013 Share Posted 25 May, 2013 Wish I was going to this now. Train down to London from Nottingham full of Froch fans. Take Froch to win in 8. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Crab Lungs Posted 25 May, 2013 Share Posted 25 May, 2013 That was absolutely brilliant, well done Carl Froch (and Mikkel Kessler). It'd be great to see Froch v Ward, but I do worry about how good Ward is. Still, if it's in England, who knows...

Dig Dig Posted 26 May, 2013 Share Posted 26 May, 2013 Great to see two solid fighters in there tonight. Great fight plan from Froch, that left jab was the difference.
Crab Lungs Posted 26 May, 2013 Share Posted 26 May, 2013 I love the arrogance of the US fans that I've been reading, it's great. I hope the fight happens - Carl Froch is a much different fighter from three years ago and with the momentum he's got, a fight in the UK would really be a closer call than many think. It's a big ask but stranger things have happened. I doubt Ward would want it though - let's face it, he seems pretty happy to keep "entertaining" his 500 or so fans in Oakland to a snore-fest so it'll take big balls to come over to the UK and face up Froch. If he does, fair play and I think, possibly, he'd win on points... but Froch would run him close and if Froch can steamroll Lucien Bute, who knows what he could do to Ward three years on in his own back yard? Come on Andre, prove you're a "legend" and fight outside CA for a change...
Turkish Posted 26 May, 2013 Share Posted 26 May, 2013 Good to see two decent guys humble in victory and gracious in defeat. After the circus acts of Haye v Chizora and Audley Harrison this is what boxing needed, a great fight between two good guys.
