SNSUN Posted 3 December, 2008 Share Posted 3 December, 2008 When do you think the best time is to put them up? Should they have gone up already? This is the first year I have had my own home, and me and the missus are putting them up next Thursday the 11th as part of a "get ****ed at home while doing it" evening. Is this too early, too late or spot on IYO?
Pip87 Posted 3 December, 2008 Share Posted 3 December, 2008 The 11th sounds good to me! If I were putting up decorations it would be around the same time. It depends on what you're happy with. If you want to put up your decorations in september in your own home why not. Personally I hate decorations being up really early but each to their own in their own homes! Jillyanne Posted 3 December, 2008 Share Posted 3 December, 2008 Spot on imho, I know loads of people who put decs up on December 1st which I think is a bit too early. I am having a fibre optic thee this year as my cats will rip a real tree to bits.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 3 December, 2008 Share Posted 3 December, 2008 I like the idea of putting them up on the 1st December. My Mum has always hated the hassle of doing it so when I lived at home she would normally put them up the weekend before xmas (no matter how close to xmas day it was). So when I got a place with teh Mrs, we put them up early, however, we now have cats, and their favourite hobby (Something Im sure you will both experience this xmas Jilly & Baj) is to climb up inside the tree and see how far they can get. As well as trying to 'paw' all the hanging decorations off the tree. We abandoned tree lights after 1 day (we purchased a nice new £20 set, only for the cat to bite through the wire while teh Mrs was getting them out of the box!) Thought it safer not to have any. I think last year, we returned home to a fallen tree every evening too! They also love eating tinsel and play football with the baubles (sp). I think this year, we may delay in putting them up, as it saves constantly tidying them up, and rectifying the damage they cause!

Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 3 December, 2008 Share Posted 3 December, 2008 ESB can you make it a bit bigger, Im struggling to see! Your written bit didnt make much sense either, but I think I know what you mean. That actually looks a lot like my cat! Although she is normally 'in' the tree! I have spent half an hour faffing around on Photobucket to get that image! They have changed the way you link and clicking on 'Direct Link' does not save the code. I had to Ctrl C and then paste the code. I apologise for the size. She's still a tiny cat at 17 months but is she feisty!

It saves us a fortune but would look rather sad in April!

Sounds very familiar, although so far the lights have survived, but the tree is normally on the ground or at an odd angle when we get in from work / up in the morning. And i have lost count of the amount of baubles I have put back on the tree over the years, although gets a bit much when the eldest cat wakes you during the night with one hanging from his mouth wanting you to play with him. Tinsel normally ends up hanging off the tree with bits scattered over the floor. They also love to investigate the presents once they have been put under the tree on xmas eve night, clambering all over them (with 3 kids there is alot) its like there own little assualt course. mack rill Posted 3 December, 2008 Share Posted 3 December, 2008 When do you think the best time is to put them up? November 5th. This weekend will be Purrrfect(see what i done there Jilly:smt008) That will give you two days to hang the decks, And go to the DIY shop. (if like me your decks are lost in the attic You just know during the search foot will slip through the ceiling:mad:)
