The only racist thing I have ever heard at St Marys was when a black dude for the opposition went down injured, the trainer ran on with a bucket and someone in the Northam shouted "quick, get him some fried chicken". I thought it was funny because the black guys in the American movies seem to eat a lot of it, didn't know how offensive it was.

I'm not usually bothered by these overhyped racism things but what Garcia said was bad. After all Tiger has achieved in the game, for Garcia to not see past the colour of his skin is terrible. What a complete c*nt.

I'm sure Garcia didn't deliberately make a slave trade reference just to try and annoy an opponent.

It's not like he comes from a country with a horrific recent history of racism where fans shout monkey chants at England players, or motorsport fans black-up at F1.

I expect the chicken stuff was merely banter - the same as when fans hiss at Spurs games, it's only a funny little noise.

People need to be less sensitive.

On the subject of racism I am surprised to see not one polictician or any of the media describe yesterday's events as a racist attack. I'm sure they would have if it was two white blokes on a black bloke.

Yep

Thanks to those who have lessened my ignorance with regards to the fried chicken association.

I do find it difficult to Square why Tiger wanted fried chicken as his champion meal. In my ignorance I thought Garcia was mocking Tiger for his poor choice of menu.

Isn't it just as well there was all this hysteria about it then!

Terror trumps race. I don't condone the action but I do have some sympathy for the perpetrators.

Because it wasn't a racist attack, it was a terrorist attack. They killed the lad because he was a soldier, not because he was white.

Of course, obviously..but the point is , rolls reversed it's always racially motivated according to so many.

Silly comment.

The soldier wasn't attacked because he was white - it wasn't a random, racist attack - he was attacked because he was a soldier. The killers made political comments and references to conflicts overseas. The evidence strongly suggests it was an act of terror. Nothing to do with racism.

Oh well,i got your point turkish

Still at least this confirms that the EDL weren't being racist last night, as they were protesting against the actions of Islamic extremists, not anyone who isn't English, so everyone can't jump off that bandwagon.

There has been much conjecture and discussion on this point as many feel that Islamophbian is indeed not racist, as by its very nature Islam is not restricted to any one particular "race". I'm pretty sure that any attack/threat etc would in the eyes of the CPS be classed as a religious incident and not a racist one (and I certainly wouldn't put one above the other in terms of seriousness).

As for why this hasn't been classed as a racist attack, the others have already clearly explained the reasons for that.

As some on here say that fried chicken is so very offensive to some Americans can they

also explain why there are so many fried chicken outlets in America? Surely they

should have been burned down or just closed if they are that bad?

Oh yes and I get really offended when someone plays the race card over a stupid comment

made by a non native.

We'll obviously never know, but I doubt they'd have done this to a black soldier.

I suppose we'll have to pick up McDonalds (I'm not being anti Scottish) (I just don't like the cardboard crap and stale buns) instead of Kentucky Fried Chicken on the way back home from SMS. Woods is a hardass, as far as I am concerned he is grabbing the chance to put a vicious boot into Garcia. I just hope he never beats Jack's record.

Here here, after recently marking his score card incorrectly and then unsportsmen like behaviour when playing Garcia he is probably trying to deflect attention and what better than the race issue.

So by your logic we should consider stopping the selling of bananas as they too can be used as a racist slur. It's not the item itself, instead like a watermelon and Kool Aid, its the context and how it is phrased.

Lots of integrity too, treated his wife well didn't he? Jack has never put a foot wrong, along with Arnie and Gary is a legend. Woods isn't fit to lick their boots. He might be a top golfer but he's a top arsehole as well. There is no way I'd want him to represent the game of golf. Faldo got it right.

You are aware, I assume of the failed plots, to kill a black soldier and a Muslim solider in Brum? They perpetrators are doing long terms in Belmarsh.

Really? Previous attacks in the UK and the USA have shown no particular discrimation with regards race (or even religion).

You only have to look at the victims of the 7/7 bombings to see how indiscriminate these attacks are.

Agreed but in this case Woods is a real hard ass with a thick skin from California not the South. He has just maliciously screwed Garcia. At least Garcia isn't a cheat.

This thread will soon be locked so we'll have to continue this another time when there is another racist incident in the news and the usual suspects will pretend that they don't get why it's racist.

All of you d1ckheads that can't seem to grasp that African-Americans find "jokes" about fried chicken offensive should spend some time in the US and see how your humour goes down. You can also try throwing bananas at black people in the street in case they're hungry and jokingly call any Asians you meet "paki".

These threads crop up now and again. No matter that millions of Americans find such a remark offensive and millions more who are aware of its significance, you will find several poster who maintain that they know better. It would be less tiresome if people would just admit they were a bit racist and found remarks to be perfectly accepTable rather than go on a boring meandering journey of feigning ignorance and offering lame comparisons "would it be racist if I mentioned paella to a Spaniard" etc etc.

Posted
Why is eating lots of fried chicken a slur? How do you make an offensive joke about eating fried chicken?

By that logic it ought to be perfectly ok to throw bananas at black players. Nothing racist about it, they'd probably enjoy them.

Wasn't Paella one of the staple meals for poor spaniards during Francos dictatorship? I hope you never share your ignorant views with any spaniards who lost loved ones during the civil war there.

So suggesting people eat a certain type of chicken is the same as chucking missiles at footballers? Very strange logic.

What about all those that refer to the French as "Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys"? A horrible reference to a very dark time in french history and a phrase that must bring suffering to french people daily.

Precisely. And using "political correctness gone mad" as their prime rationale.

'One of those little bit racist c-nts'? - Please explain. Don't get upset because your dismissal of paella as a racist slur is incorrect and you would offend the working class in Spain. You'll be inviting Italians round for a slice of pizza next, be careful what side of the table you put them though, they are bound to want to change sides half way through the meal FFS (you would think)

Are you one of those pathetic, Lilly livered liberals who is always offended for someone else and leaping to scream racism/homophobia/sexism at every opportunity c*nts? I think you are.....

So how come the 'Bo Selecta' TV series was allowed to run for so long?

Or 'in sickness and in health'? Come on explain that? No one has ever thought that was racist have they?

Plenty of complaints about that over the years as you well know. No-one had any complaints about Bo Selecta and his Southern Fried Chicken.

Please don't tell me that as well as being a "little bit racist" c;nt that you're also a "get wound up by PC c;nts" c;nt?

I'm not at all offended by Fried Chicken comments, just pointing out why some people would get offended. If you can find any references on the internet to Paella or Pizza being well known racist slurs against Spaniards or Italians then I'll happily take it back. None of you "little bit racist" c;nts on here would dream of cracking a fried chicken gag to a black American bloke, that speaks volumes.
