Saint Charlie Posted 4 June, 2013 Share Posted 4 June, 2013 No suprises there. Reeves and Hoskins were high profile U21 players but went on loan and failed to make a real impression in L1 and L2. Just shows that generally any player who is 20 and hasnt showed signs of getting near the first team probably never will.

Reeves was obviously never good enough for the Pl or even the NPC and yet many told me he was a star in the making, there are a lot of bad judges of footballing ability around. eelpie Posted 4 June, 2013 Share Posted 4 June, 2013 "We would like to thank those players leaving the Club for all of their efforts whilst representing Southampton, and wish them well with their future careers." I agree. And that includes all. Most of these players have given us some memorable moments and are part of Saints. A difficult time for anyone when their contracts come to an end and I hope each player gets new contracts soon, wherever.

A very good player, who is still capable of having a fulfilling career (Same goes for Hoskins)
Batman Posted 4 June, 2013 Share Posted 4 June, 2013 Can only imagine that we will definitely sign a right back Seaborne will get a contract else where Would be amazed if Richardson did not end up at a half decent champ team Dickson will be back in league 1 as will reeves
sussexsaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Share Posted 4 June, 2013 Respect to Richardson, some good performances for us on the way up and I wish him well. Also glad Seaborne has made a recovery from what could easily have been a career ending injury

Also glad Seaborne has made a recovery from what could easily have been a career ending injury Richardson was excellent for us. As stated above, will have little problem getting a new contract at a decent Champ side.
Turkish Posted 4 June, 2013 Share Posted 4 June, 2013 Sad to see Ryan Dickson go. Obviously not a premier league player but always though he did well for us when he played and never really got a chance under Adkins. Richardson was very good for us as others have said and Butterfield was a good solid pro who always did a job. Im sure they'll all get contracts at the championship or L1 clubs. Window Cleaner Posted 4 June, 2013 Share Posted 4 June, 2013 From what I've seen of Hoskins and Reeves both have a future at League One or Two level not so sure, there are a lot of very accomplished footballers looking for contracts just now. See them both as League 2 or non-league myself.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 4 June, 2013 Share Posted 4 June, 2013 never saw the potential in reeves for this level or even the championship. Far too lightweight to make an impression. Writing was on the wall for all of them
Baird of the land Posted 6 June, 2013 Share Posted 6 June, 2013 Surprised we've released Richardson. Seemed a very solid deputy for Clyne imo.
Window Cleaner Posted 6 June, 2013 Share Posted 6 June, 2013 Surprised we've released Richardson. Seemed a very solid deputy for Clyne imo. but he wasn't, the only time he actually played RB was when we switched Clyne to the left. On all other occasions Maya or Corky filled in at RB I think. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 6 June, 2013 Share Posted 6 June, 2013 Wasn't Everton away his only appearance this year where he was absolutally ripped to shreds... He was, but to be fair Baines and Pienaar were in awesome form and our 4-diamond-2 was ripped to shreds by Everton. Particularly as it appeared Jay Rod and Lambert spent most of their time running after Coleman and Baines as JWP and Lallana (in front of Davis and behind Ramirez) were always sucked infield. Over land and sea Posted 8 June, 2013 Share Posted 8 June, 2013 http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/2013-14/jun/premier-league-clubs-submit-retained-and-released-lists.html This is a link to the Premier League website showing a full list of retained and released players for each club. The Saints list is largely in line with the announcement on the OS but interesting to note that Lloyd Isgrove was clearly out of contract and has been offered a deal and Omar Rowe seems to have been offered a professional deal. Neither of these points were covered in the club's announcement for some reason.

Over land and sea Posted 9 June, 2013 Share Posted 9 June, 2013 Maybe they need to answer the offers before any announcements can be made?? Possibly but the OS said: "With regards to the Saints Academy, goalkeeper Will Britt has been offered a professional contract.....". It doesn't say he's signed it. So I don't see what the difference is betweeen him and Omar Rowe. But there must be one - I'm sure the club would be very careful about announcements about contracts (probably even running past lawyers).
