toe_punt Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 Anyone know why Boruc didn't play yesterday? The TV commentator alluded to a disciplinary issue, but it wasn't at all clear.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 He was on the pitch taking pics - maybe the club just wanted the club capt to get a game under his belt. I should'nt lose any sleep.
UpweySaint Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 A sceptic may suggest it was a farewall to KD, cant see him getting a look in next year, much as he's been a big part of our club last few seasons!
Matthew Le God Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 (edited) A sceptic may suggest it was a farewall to KD. Signing a contract until June 2016 would suggest otherwise... Edited 20 May, 2013 by Matthew Le God
UpweySaint Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 Signing a new 3 year contract in March would suggest otherwise. Moving into a coaching role and being a third choice keeper, you never know, might have been sentiment that got him a game
sandwichsaint Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 I'm pretty sure we signed him for a continuity/coaching/club-captain type role. I love him to bits but I would be seriously concerned if we had to rely on him in any sort of way next year. He just seems to have grown old very very quickly, luckily he didn't have very much to do yesterday but he managed to screw up a lot of fairly straightforward kicking jobs and was very indecisive in possession. I'd be surprised if he makes the PL again, surely the yank will be number two, and Gazza will go out to L1 to get a season's worth of playing time under his belt. I haven't entirely given up on Gazza, he will be remembered for his rabbit-in-the-headlights job at QPR and his complete omnishambles v Norwich, which is a little harsh; he had some decent games before that.

You didn't need to edit in the picture, I didnt think you were making things up pal Im just playing devils advocate and suggesting its not unreasonable to think he may not start another premiership game for saints

toe_punt Posted 20 May, 2013 Author Posted 20 May, 2013 If giving KD a send off were the reason, wouldn't Boruc at least have been on the bench?
old_southy Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 I thot that Lambert and Boruc were carrying small injuries.
SaintBobby Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 Boruc was the guest speaker in the Channon suite. So, it's unlikely to have been a disciplinary issue.
S-Clarke Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 Probably mentioned his disciplinary issue earlier in the season. No harm giving Kelvin a run out to be honest. Found it interesting that he got a guard of honour (sort of) in the behind the scenes video.
Andre Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 Assuming it was a knock, seeing as Gazzaniga was on the bench. No need to risk him in the final game of the season.
Deano6 Posted 20 May, 2013 Posted 20 May, 2013 I thought he played very well personally. Seemed very assured and did well to get his body behind a few decent shots to collect them comfortably. Had no chance with the goal IMO, all round good game by Arthur.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 21 May, 2013 Posted 21 May, 2013 Signing a contract until June 2016 would suggest otherwise... Lee Barnard was looking forward to being our main prem striker then?
SO16_Saint Posted 21 May, 2013 Posted 21 May, 2013 Source? cant remember the exact quote, but Forren mentioned something in his pre-match interview in the Exec area

lordswoodsaints Posted 21 May, 2013 Posted 21 May, 2013 Solent stated there was unclear information about his omission after the game
Bucks Saint Posted 21 May, 2013 Posted 21 May, 2013 Solent stated there was unclear information about his omission after the game Thats cleared that up then
Glasgow_Saint Posted 21 May, 2013 Posted 21 May, 2013 Cheers dude spoke to my source - confirmed that Boruc was injured while carrying out disciplinary issues. wasnt picked following the above + KD is leaving / moving to coaching role.

He was rushed into the side. Look at Joe Hart- played more than double the amount of games Gazza played in L2, and still it took about 2 years and a few loan spells for him to get a comparable run of games at City. He needs time to progress and build confidence.

I do think goalkeeping has a lot to do with confidence perhaps more then any other position with a keeper assured of his decisions will have more conviction and inspire trust in the defence. Just for an example Bialkowski has had a pretty decent season at notts county, a good few clean sheets and has been well recieved I believe. Gazzaniga will hopefully go out on loan and progress, looks to have enough potential, and by heck aint he half tall!
mitch01 Posted 22 May, 2013 Posted 22 May, 2013 The players gave KD a mini guard of honour as they came out for the lap of honour, its in the behind the scenes footage. Could be an acknowledgement that he will be at best third choice from now on.

Big Bad Bob Posted 22 May, 2013 Posted 22 May, 2013 Simon Peach @SimonPeach19 May It seems as if Artur Boruc has just been rested for today's match, nothing else. Will check with Pochettino after the match #PAsoccer
