Matthew Le God Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 For those that have forgotten... Kenwyne Jones went on strike and refused to play for Saints in 2007 in order to force a move to Sunderland.

Saint Charlie Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 Quite possible he won't play. Owen will start or come on for at least 30mims and Crouch and Walters are both ahead of Jones anyway.

John Boy Saint Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 I always worry about targeting an ex player with abuse, anyone remember us giving Birmingham the right runaround when the Dutch project was here, he trotted out to the touch line from the subs bench and the chant went up "stand up if you sh@gged his wife" to which a few cards did here and there in the various stands, 30 seconds later he has smashed one into the back of our net................. Almost as a reply of "Sit down shut up".

red&white56 Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 Surely there's some humour and wind up in the pig's head story for tomorrow, I just can't think of anything good right now!
Um Bongo Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 Owen has indicated he is playing so he'll be on the bench at best. With the pig stunt, I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't in the squad.

There were lads throwing a pigs head about and then it all kicked off

Kingsbridge Saint Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 The last time Crouch played in the last game of the season at SMS was in the infamous 'couldn't be arsed' game against Man Utd. Hope he gets the same result.

Noodles34 Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 For those of you that don't know, the strike business was set up by the club to make it look like they had to sell the player, rather than we're keen to sell at the first opportunity. Alain Perrin Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 Jones was a good player for us but the way he left wasn't the best. However, if there was a religious angle to the pig prank then that's bang out of order and I don't see why we should give him abuse on it, however well it rhymes Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

If the 10 other players played with the same amount of effort that Crouch showed that season, we wouldn't have gone down IMHO.
