st_tommy Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 Please please please can we change that awful Cortese song or at least the last line. I cringe when it starts up. I'm quite certain (although i haven't spoken to him personally) that hating Pompey isn't at the forefront of his thoughts. I suspect he couldn't care less about them, or any other club for that matter, one way or another. Anyone else agree? How about Cortese woooooOOh Cortese woooooOOh He comes from Italy He'll make us Champions League! Come on guys let's give him a song to be proud of
hypochondriac Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 I didn't think there was a way that song could be worse. Then this happened.
Patrick Bateman Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 It really doesn't need to be sung, unless you're a simpleton.
S-Clarke Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 I didn't think there was a way that song could be worse. Then this happened. lol

studentsaint Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 I think a long tribute to his late best friend following our survival in the premier league would please the man more than hearing his own name. He knows he's done him proud.
kwsaint Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 I didn't think there was a way that song could be worse. Then this happened. I think give us a N (N!), give us a I (I!), give us a C etc. would be better.
John Boy Saint Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 Might as well see if we can get a wave out of him too!!
Patrick Bateman Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 Oh Nic Corteseeee You're the live of my live, oh Nic Cortese I'd let you **** my wife, oh Nic Cortese

Golden Balls Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 I usually enjoy joining in singing it just to see so many people getting so worked up about a chant.
Roger Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 I usually enjoy joining in singing it just to see so many people getting so worked up about a chant. Weird.
adrian lord Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 The Cortese song is one that is so bad it is actually quite good, so long as it is sung with a knowing irony.
latter day saint Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 The Cortese song is one that is so bad it is actually quite good, so long as it is sung with a knowing irony. how do you convey knowing irony ,as the facial expression that came to mind could be confused with trapped wind ?
sussexsaint Posted 18 May, 2013 Posted 18 May, 2013 He stands at only 5ft 3 Nicky, Nicky He'll take us to the champions league Nicky,Nicky He doesn't care for Matt le Tiss ... Etc
aintforever Posted 19 May, 2013 Posted 19 May, 2013 Anyone who sings the name of a chairman is a mong.
St Lej Posted 19 May, 2013 Posted 19 May, 2013 "you're just too good to be true, can't take my eyes off of you, you feel like heaven to touch...I wanna hold you so much..etc etc "I love COR-TE-SE..and if it's quite alright I love Cortese.."
Turkish Posted 19 May, 2013 Posted 19 May, 2013 God Save our gracious chairman Long live our noble chairman God save our chairman Send him victorious, happy and glorious Long to reign over us God save our chairman
Turkish Posted 19 May, 2013 Posted 19 May, 2013 Back on 1984 when Alan Woodford was the talk of the city and the paper versions of On the March was full of letters praising him we all used to sing 'Alan Woodford- the greatest chairman alive Whilst he's here saints will always thrive Alan Woodford he's the man for us In him we will always trust To the tune of Rule Britannia.

Hilarious.
Turkish Posted 19 May, 2013 Posted 19 May, 2013 Hilarious. Thats the problem with you modern fans no respect for club greats of the past.
Fan The Flames Posted 19 May, 2013 Posted 19 May, 2013 how do you convey knowing irony ? Simples, jazz hands on the last line.
The Kraken Posted 19 May, 2013 Posted 19 May, 2013 Being as Saints fans like to "borrow" songs from other clubs, maybe we could follow the lead of some other clubs and what they sing about their CEOs? The trouble is, I'm not sure what they are. Anyone? What do Man United fans sing about David Gill? What have Man City previously sung about Garry Cook, and now Ferran Sorriano? What witty ditties do Chelsea have about Ron Gourlay? Or Arsenal about Ivan Gazidis? These are the more successful teams in the Premier League, so I think we should look to them for inspiration. If anyone knows the words to the songs these lot get sung about them, maybe we should post them up here and get learning.
