Cortese to stay

I wonder if there has been some change in the ownership. This is the first time that we've seen Katharina named as owner. Before it's always been "the family" or "the trust"

I can think it possible that working with an individual might suit NC more than a committee. Could be easier to sell a vision that way.

No evidence whatsoever, just a thought.

We're long on speculation and short on facts yet again, but if I were the owner of a significant business then I'm not so sure I'd appreciate seeing an employee of mine so publicly employ 'strong arm' tactics against me. This kind of thing is not conducive to harmonious long term relationships - not that Don Cortese has ever been overly concerned about that.

But at least we appear back on a even keel for now, so back to football ...

Yes these things can backfire as Poyet has recently discovered. Anyway what a relief, concluded much earlier than expected, now onward and upward!

mack rill doesn't count, anything we do or don't do disappoints him, although in this case he was just hoping that Nicola would donate a tenner to PFC in a fit of pique and 110 is a troll.. For the rest well I see a lot of the old Lawrie/Crouch/Lowe/Fan on the Board/Wish we knew more about what's going on/ brigade in there.

Depends what cards Nicola had in his hand though, we still don't know if he has a trump card like " It's what your Dad wanted, here it is written on a a bit of paper"

Rather like Dell Boy would always manipulate Rodney with tales of their late mothers deathbed last wishes you mean ...

Read the club statement carefully and the language employed is telling - the Don publicly expresses his thanks to Katrina Liebherr for being so "helpful" when it's been my experience that the normal relationship is that employees are paid to help their employers!

I'm inclined to agree. Maybe the situation with Markus's estate has only just been concluded and its only recently been possible for an individual to assume ownership.

I checked a few days ago and the directorship of the holding company that actually owns the club (DMWSL 613 Limited) was still listed as 'in probate'.

Great news.

Charlie - Employers should be as helpful as employees. Success is about support, cooperation and team work, not hierarchy.

But what impresses me most about this is the timing of it all. NC knows the timetable, has had the meetings and is getting the decisions at the right time to really position the club well for the future. Clearly he wants the last game of the season to end on a high and doesn't want speculation festering away through the summer.

I didn't intend to post but thought I would react to this persons moronic post. I can only talk for myself and I am not at all disappointed. The expressions of loyalty in the past day or so from players and manager have been interesting and on the face of it good news. Also short term I am sure it is good news, so actually I am pleased.

I am not sure my reasons for voting against Cortese are required on this thank fully good news thread other than to be about my misgivings regarding the character of the man in question. Unfortunately only time will reveal if they are correct or not. I for one hope that this feeling I have about him are totally wrong!

Taking a backwards step, this has been magnificently managed from ALL sides.

From a Media Management perspective it is almost as if The Family were involved from the first statement.

NC leaks, 99% of the fan base unite. The Manager & players show true dedication to "The Project" (as these things are called these days).

And then the Coup de Grace - Katherina ALSO emerges as a new face and new hero.

And then even the MEDIA start to say we should be excited.

Couldn't have worked that plan out better myself.

:toppa: to all who came up with that #masterstroke

(The above represents an IMHO with a touch of Happy Clappy Cynicism mixed in!)

I'm not disappointed. I didn't think he would leave, I think it was a tactic designed to achieve his aims. He played it well.

The poll asked people to vote on whether they wanted Cortese to stay or go. You voted that you wanted him to go. Therefore it looks a bit odd if you now profess no disappointment that he is staying.

I am glad things have been resolved, but not particulary impressed at how Cortese appears to have intentionally put this into the public domain. I thought he had a strict policy of keeping company business private?

I thought it was only dark forces that unsettled the club? If we lose the £5m game tomorrow will anyone ask if this stuff gave the players the perfect excused to take their eyes off the ball?

Gonna sign Ramirez, gonna stay up, Cortese going to stay.

Lordy, I've called it this year!

Anyone want tonight's lottery numbers? :)

Youve been spot on all the way..... You've taken some abuse along the way from the normal SWF bully boys but you have acted with class and diginity throughout

Not at all I have my opinion on him but really think it would be boring for every one, me included to go into them. My main interest is in southampton fc. Having supported the club all my life. I would imagine the news he is staying is certainly good for us in the short term so I am happy right now. My vote was cast as a reaction to what I think of some of the things he has done( fact) and things I have heard about him. ( perhaps not all accurate who knows).
