What a great day. I had to get tickets through an outside agency, they cost £375 each for myself & my six year old son, by the time replica shirts, fuel, food etc the day probably cost about £1K. I still don't think Mrs Geezer is quite aware of that fact :shakey:. Our ticket was originally for the London FA, albeit at the Saints end, and we were sat next to an Arsenal Fan, my overriding memory (apart from the sea of yellow) is my son constantly jabbing this guy with his flag. It was the first saints defeat my nipper had seen, and we had tears. Despite having a Saints flag stuck in his ear for most of the game, the Arsenal chappy gave him a few comforting words, before leaving before the cup was presented .

I've got to say though we had cracking seats, front row, in line with the penalty area, perfect for a 6 year old.

Wow was that 10 years ago!

How quickly we fell away after that.

I'll stick my neck out and say that our present team would beat that team 10 years ago.

Not sure if our current team would beat that Arsenal team tho' (I don't think the current Arsenal team would either)

We stayed up in Cardiff the night before and had a good night out, waking up on FA Cup Final day knowing you were in it was brilliant. The pub before hand with the balcony was great, when Coldplays Yellow came on it was rocking.

I remember getting quiet upset afterwards, its wasn't just the result it was that the whole 'journey' (to use TV language) was over. All the cup matches, phone calls, planning and listening to draws was over, the plans for 'what to do when won' were never going to be put in action. I just drove back to my mums and curled up on the sofa and didn't move until Monday afternoon. It wasn't until a few days later that I was able to enjoy it.

I can't wait until the next one.

What a day, haven't seen highlights of the game since I went. I was sat in the lower tier behind the goal, still convinced Ashley Cole hand balled it on the line in the last minute. Also remember the reaction around me when Henry nearly scored within the first few seconds! Everyone thought we were in for a long day, but it wasn't.

Just remember the awful train journey down ('special" from Soton) went all around the houses, tired old carriages, dirty toilets; the rain; being in a packed pub seeing the team - WTF? no Fabrice and Chris Baird??. Then sitting behind the smelliest old couple I have ever encountered.

Proud of our support staying behind despite losing - bettered at the JPT in 2010, well done all you yellows and reds!!

What a day. Incredible stadium which is miles ahead of the new Wembley in terms of atmosphere. I was right behind the goal that Arsenal scored in, saw all the horrible little ricochets and felt the impending doom as it fell to Pires.

And I must say it was a pleasure to watch that Arsenal team at its peak as well, I honestly don't think we'll see a team play at that level for at least another year or two in the PL.

Brilliant day. Up all night the night before, me and a mate persuaded 2 other mates that didn't even support Saints (they do now weirdly enough) to drive us to Cardiff at 6am. Got to Cardiff at 7.30am and no other Saints fan there yet, until we saw a mini bus full of older lads from our local (Fountain, Hedge End) outside a Tescos Express type shop all on the Stella. We joined them and the rest of the day is a blur. Watched the game in the PoW with a good 100+ other Saints without tickets (cheapest I could find was £350). Jesus, just remembered, actually there were 5 of us, a rogue mate of mine was also with us, not seen him for years, his claim to fame was he used to also follow Millwall as he loved fighting, he was on a documentary once where a load of 'wall torched a Pompey car, at the start of the footage you see and hear him point out the Pompey badge in the car and rounded up the other lads to do it over. Right, I'm off to Facebook to look him up, top lad he was!

Before I do, remember getting back to town after and it being punchy as you like with the entire City at the wrong end of an all dayer ending in defeat. Tear ups all over the place, saying that though we did head to New York New York!

I was gutted with the result, although in hindsight no shame in losing to one of the great British sides, was it the following season they went unbeaten?

My memories of this match are probably extremely different from most of you on here.

I went upto my friends house up the road to play FIFA 03/Redcard on the PS2 and when I got up there we had a few matches and he said to me 'We'll have to stop playing for a bit at 3 o' clock because the cup final's on' I knew almost nothing about Football at this time (I didn't even know matches took place every week) but knew/recognised a few teams from playing FIFA 03.

Anyway, I asked him 'Who's Playing?' He said 'Saints v Arsenal' to which I replied 'What's the point in watching that, Saints are gonna get battered, they're f**king s**t' so we kept on playing until 3, when he went downstairs to watch the match in the lounge with his family, I had nothing else to do so I watched the match and remember being extremely bored whilst watching it.

He was p*ssed after the match and kept saying 'if only Beattie had taken that chance we'd of been level' I said to him Saints had played well and it was a closer game than I'd imagined. We went back to FIFA 03 and replayed the match that had just taken place, him playing as Saints and me playing as Arsenal and I won 4-0.

Took my sons, then 9 and 12 along. At the end they were so sad they wanted to go immediately.

I said let's stay for the presentation , we may not be back for a while.

The next few minutes were awesome, Saints totally united, a brilliant and very proud few minutes, finally drowned out by the PA system.

I got my pet hamster that day. Named it Tom after myself. Although being 6, I hadn't got any really care about football or life outside the house. Happy days.
So you are now only 16 Tom? Gonna have to cut you some slack with those dodgy posts of yours ;)

Remember having my picture taken with the Tin Man in the concourse before tha game. Also remember just wanting to get on the next train home as I was so gutted, didn't even wait to meet with mates I had gone with. Waited a years to watch the game again and was surprised at how well we played.

Only one set of supporters made it into an occasion. Cardiff had probably never seen anything like it before, or since. Despite the result and the weather it was a great day.

I was there and we were magnificent but to say that Cardiff has never seen anything like it before or after! You have probably not been to a Welsh rugby international. Now that is an atmosphere to raise the hairs on the back of your neck!

I was so excited about the cup final, couldn't get tickets but watched it in the living room on my own aged 11. At full time my parents had to comfort me from crying. F*cking Pires.

Remember p!ssing off my family at a reunion in Bristol which was held while the Semi-Final was being played against Watford. Nearly tore the house apart when Brett slotted!

I don't know I'd go so far as manic-depressive, just this club has been through plenty of lows and plenty of highs in the relatively short time I've supported it (since '05) and the low low days of missing out in the play-offs in 06/07, seeing the majority of our best players leave us and struggling for the next 2 seasons (07/08, 08/09) have taken their toll on my general outlook of the team nowadays.

Words cannot describe how much it p*sses me off when someone scores against us, I just see red and absolute rage.

Ahhh 10 years ago! Finished my first exam at Uni in the morning (which I suprisingly passed despite having no sleep and already a little drunk). Then hopped on train from Swansea to Cardiff. Didn't have a ticket, got offered one for £350 - but couldn't afford it...Spent most of the build up going from pub to pub with a collection of Saints fans I picked up along the way, a couple from the train, a couple from uni etc. Watched the game in the Prince of Wales, don't remember a lot about it tbh - I know it wasn't the most exciting game ever, but was sure Brett was going to score when he got put through (great save by Seaman) and then in the last minute Beattie heading straight into Cole on the line!!!!

Didn't speak a word until I got back to Swansea, Arsenal fans on the train moaning that they had only won the cup and that they should have smashed us, I am not a violent person but that brought me very very close. When back in Swansea, decided to walk into town and then get a bus back to the Student village - got three free pints from total strangers offering condolences and a discounted bus ride too. Finally walked into Student bar at about 10 in the evening and got given a free pitcher of Snakebite...

Next morning had the hangover from hell and a week later split up with my ex. She wasn't happy that I didn't go to a meal with her American housemate who happened to be leaving the next day...

All in all an incredible day but I still haven't watched the final again.

Brought back some pleasant memories of the Cardiff Final

I thought Saints fans were excellent on the day

However for those of us fortunate enough to be at Wembley in 1976 you can times the Millennium experience by a factor of 10 at least, possibly 100.

The lead up, the Final, the return home, Channon's testimonial on the Monday followed by the hottest summer of the century, all fabulous and I hope one day it can be replicated especially for the younger fans

Non-official coach down, vodka for breakfast, triple jack and coke on arrival, few cheeky beers in the stadium. Brilliant atmosphere, thought Brett was destined to score with that chance (83rd minute and all that). Utterly convinced Ash*ole handballed Beattie's chance too. Abiding memory (other than bawling through Abide with Me feeling I was singing it for my Grandad who couldn't be there) was that we never really gave it a good go. That stadium is bloody awesome though, JPT was flat by comparison. Curry on arrival home, gigantic hangover next day.

Good stories about it. How time has flown by.

It is one of my favourite ever days. Having travelled down with some mates from Derbyshire. On the beers from opening time in the city. Pre match dinner with some of the fit player wives. Great atmosphere at the game, seated behind Svensson's bird. Bad result but got to meet all the players and staff after and continued to get smashed.

I remember Chris Baird bumming a ciggy off a mate. Good times indeed.
